Ukiah, California Logo Design

Nearly every new Ukiah organization realizes that they are in need of a logo, yet few new business owners entirely comprehend the vital role their logo design can take in their success, or the reason that one business logo performs far better than another. A logo has a critical and long term effect on the growth of a business, pick the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a company.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Ukiah, California companies prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not demand consideration, they can be grasped in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo will be legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be lasting and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.
Retro logo layout of a bike created for a Ukiah, California coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually opening in an older section of town and really wanted to cast a vintage feel without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I achieved both jobs by developing a trademark concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and also bacteria made for Ukiah, California clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that researches the root causes and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which deals with the clinical evaluation of samplings of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the sole instance I remember where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Usually I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents rather literally, however it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more appealing, more attention grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo layout with a leaping eco-friendly frog created for a family members fun facility in Ukiah, California.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a much more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo including a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - created for Ukiah, California travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality because travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but instead project emotional experiences by means of the images they record. The idea behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they often share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with just words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Ukiah logo but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Ukiah logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design projects that I take on I honestly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however my customer, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man seriously loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his aversion for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to share it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced opinions on the benefit of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo understand how essential a logo design is for their company so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo job possesses it’s share of challenges, however the largest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, layout for Ukiah, California publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin slice of real estate to work with, but it really is the most essential part of a printed book due to the fact that it is ordinarily the initial thing a person views in the book store. With regard to a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will ever have to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it seems like that in many cases 1 of the aspects people often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle airline situated in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a spirit of air travel and it was surely a winner.

Ukiah logo design made use of for advertising and marketing and a label style for Vintage Situation features an archaic typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be older cases. For this brand design I sought to come up with a logo that provided a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be utilized for anything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another era.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Ukiah, California, design include an arc with lines converging with it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can be one of the most challenging logo jobs because it appears that every single dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dental practices do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would probably include an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I actually love doing dental logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a household nonprofit, the logo features 4 personalities surprised in height to represent a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to explain how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo layout created for a hair style workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo that carried a feeling of tranquility and connection for their new hair studio. I created a design which didn’t go the obvious route of making simply a stylized orchid but rather created a logo which implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is usually the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the main focus on the emotion that they wanted to transmit to their clients.

Arabian horse logo design developed for a horse cattle ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian show steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo style for a software developer the style functions and also iconic component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a logo is equally as important as how it serves the company it stands for.

A logo design including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a place to market their pre-owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Ukiah logo dsign with an illustration that captures the attention of vehicles and sends an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo layout has a field included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo concept wasn’t actually designed for an Ukiah, California regional farm it was actually designed for an investments broker, and this business logo was one of several which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to produce a graphic that projected self-confidence, success, and luxury.

Ukiah Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for ostensibly encountering arrowhead and also the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the liberty to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye without understanding where the target is. Fortunately, in this particular instance, I struck a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo designed for the use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font that is reminiscent of a famous sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted loads of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked closely with the proprietor to develop a logo that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
