Van Nuys, California Logo Design

Virtually every new Van Nuys business person realizes that they are in need of a logo, yet few new business owners fully grasp the vital role their company logo can perform in their success, or exactly why one logo design works better than another. A logo has a critical and sustaining effect on the growth of a business, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of an organization.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Van Nuys, California businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand consideration, they can be comprehended in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from labels to posters a scalable logo will be legible and just as emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the company they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be enduring and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.
Retro logo style of a bicycle created for a Van Nuys, California coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and bistro were opening in an older section of the town and wanted to project a nostalgic atmosphere without coming across as boring or low energy. I accomplished both of these tasks by designing a company logo concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide as well as germs designed for Van Nuys, California medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which examines the causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare that works with the clinical examination of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the sole instance I recollect where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents quite literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more captivating, more focus grabbing and more memorable.

logo style with a leaping green frog designed for a household enjoyable facility in Van Nuys, California.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dentists, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Van Nuys, California traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but rather reveal emotional experiences through the pictures they capture. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they frequently tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be conveyed with just words. I made an effort to do something the same to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Van Nuys logo but also to reveal the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Van Nuys logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design projects that I take on I seriously enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but the client, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man really hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his contempt for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge them to talk about it with friends and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced point of views on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo realize how essential a logo is for their organization so they are much more invested in the outcome. Every logo design project has it’s allotment of challenges, however the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, design for Van Nuys, California publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, however it is the most critical part of a printed book since it is in most cases the first thing a person sees in the book shop. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the opportunity that they will likely ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go yet it seems like that in many cases 1 of the things consumers often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest startup commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a sense of flight and it was certainly a winner.

Van Nuys logo design used for marketing and a label style for Vintage Situation includes an antiquated font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for musical instruments, which seemed to be antique cases. For this business logo design I attempted to come up with a logo that offered a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different point in time.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Van Nuys, California, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to indicate metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can be one of the most difficult logo design projects due to the fact that it appears that almost every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental professionals do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would probably include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I actually love doing dentist logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters surprised in height to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to summarize precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo style developed for a hair style studio including a script font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo design that carried a sense of serenity and class for their new hair studio. I created a concept which didn’t go the obvious direction of making simply a stylized orchid but instead designed a logo which suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is oftentimes the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the main focus on the feeling that they really wanted to forecast to their clients.

Logo style for a software developer the design features and also iconic aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and disk management. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge in between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it represented something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the meaning supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it brands the company it represents.

A logo design including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly understood the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a location to sell their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Van Nuys logo design dsign utilizing a graphic which grabs the interest of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo layout has actually an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem idea wasn’t really created for an Van Nuys, California area farm it was in reality devised for a commodities broker, and this brand was one of many which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to create a brand mark that projected assurance, success, and luxury.

Van Nuys Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo design function for outwardly facing arrowhead as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the flexibility to delve into any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the first shot.

Logo designed for the use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script typeface that is reminiscent of a well-known sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created quite a lot of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked closely with the proprietor to design a business logo which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
