Van Nuys Logo Design

Every new Van Nuys business knows they need a logo, but few new business owners entirely are aware of the key role their logo design can play in their financial success, or the reason that one logo design functions far better than another. A logo has an instant and long term influence on the success of a company, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the life of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Van Nuys businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand scrutiny, they can be understood in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will be legible and just as emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be enduring and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

Retro logo style of a bike created for a Van Nuys coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening up in an older part of the city and wished to visualize a nostalgic vibe without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled each of the jobs via designing a business logo concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo design with a microscopic lense slide as well as germs designed for Van Nuys clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that investigates the causes and consequences of diseases, especially the field of healthcare which works with the laboratory examination of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I recall where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Usually I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more interesting, more interest grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog developed for a family fun center in Van Nuys.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a much more dynamic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a group of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Van Nuys traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but instead communicate emotional experiences by means of the photos they record. The thought behind this logo design was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they frequently share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something very similar to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Van Nuys logo design but also to show the depth of her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Van Nuys logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design jobs that I take on I truly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but my client, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family did not share his hatred for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage them to share it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased viewpoints on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logos are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire an expert to design their logo design realize how important a logo is for their organization so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo project has it’s portion of hurdles, but the largest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, style for Van Nuys book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin parcel of real estate to work with, however it really is the most critical part of a published book since it is ordinarily the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. Regarding a publisher, it’s the opportunity that they will ever get to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go yet it seems like that in many instances one of the traits people often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small start-up commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a spirit of flight and it was undoubtedly a success.

Van Nuys logo design utilized for advertising and marketing as well as a label layout for Vintage Instance features an old-fashioned font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this brand concept I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different point in time.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Van Nuys, design include an arc with lines converging with it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can easily be one of the most difficult logo design jobs considering that it appears that virtually every dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business advertising, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the exact same way dentists do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really enjoy doing dentist logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a family not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities staggered in height to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to explain specifically how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that describes itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo style created for a hair layout workshop including a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo which projected an atmosphere of serenity and class for their new hair salon. I created a design which didn’t go the obvious path of creating simply a stylized orchid but instead designed a logo that implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is usually the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead laid the importance on the perception that they really wanted to project to their customers.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo design for a software application designer the design functions and also renowned element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection in between the software and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it meant something to the owner of the business and in many cases the significance supporting a company logo is equally as important as how it brands the company it represents.

Develop logo design created for a Van Nuys interior designer, style feature a series of red circles that intersect and also replace the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

A logo design including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly realized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a spot to sell off their used products to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Van Nuys logo design dsign with an illustration which grabs the interest of vehicles and sends an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo style has actually a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo design wasn’t actually produced for an Van Nuys area farm it was really designed for a products broker, and this brand was one of many that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was really to design an identity that projected self-confidence, financial success, and luxury.
Logo developed for the use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script typeface that is reminiscent of a popular sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking where I worked directly with the business owner to design a logo that worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
