STRATEGIES FOR IDENTIFYING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design firm offers a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can’t refund the amount of time you commit which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but ultimately a designer can only be judged from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t feature actual samples odds are they will never be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s goal is to echo your unique vision for your organization. If a logo designer isn’t focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how quickly they will get paid.

Wasco LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping small business owners grow notable brand identities. We have performed branding work for builders, universities, heart surgeons, party planners, diners, retailers, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can envision. What makes us different compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every logo design project as though it will be employed as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first approach our identity designs can, and have been utilized in everything from garment labels to billboards. Our sign first approach ensures that our logos are just as reliable whether they are used in television commercials or website applications, they are consistently recognizable, understood, and always remembered irrespective of scale or application.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that truly sets ImageCo apart from other design firms that you might possibly have encountered in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are hired to perform, we perform ourselves. Irrespective of the kind of project we accept, logo, web site, trade show booth, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will contract out our client’s projects to companies located outside the USA. Whenever you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that increases the cost of your design project and imposes the conditions of how my customers and I do business.

QUALITIES OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Wasco business realizes that they probably need a logo, but few new business owners entirely grasp the essential role their logo design will perform in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo design functions far better than another. A logo design has an instant and sustaining impact on the viability of a business, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the life of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Wasco companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t need deliberation, they can be understood in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from label to billboards a scalable logo design will continue to be legible and just as emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the item or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be lasting and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s both a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark as well as the act of denoting something so that it can be recognized, its genesis originates from the mark burned onto animals. These days a brand indicates practically anything with an objective, whether it be revenue or government agencies, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of specifying the value of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s attractive cousin, they are each from the very same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition aimed at a specific audience, it’s goal is to create a mental image that the target market will connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing and identity design. When somebody states the names Lamborghini or Mustang what we think about is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, elegance, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and that is what makes people buy those products. Brand image is why people buy most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Firms – If you look back at the beginning of most branding companies you’ll find that they are frequently rebranded advertising firms. When someone says they are in marketing many people will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that specializes in a type of visual design which helps shape the public image of a company, a product or a company. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, signage designs, packaging, as well as collateral products such as business cards, stationery, and sales brochures. Some visual designers also develop web sites and also user interfaces. The necessary duty of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the objective of influencing activities, end results as well as assumptions.

select signs/logos

Retro logo design of a bicycle produced for a Wasco coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee shop were launching in an older section of the town and wanted to visualize a nostalgic tone without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled both of these jobs by developing a logo concept that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide as well as bacteria created for Wasco clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that researches the causes and consequences of diseases, especially the field of healthcare that works with the clinical evaluation of specimens of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I call to mind where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more interesting, more attention grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog made for a family members fun center in Wasco.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental offices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design including a flock of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Wasco traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but rather project emotional experiences by means of the images they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they often tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with just words. I attempted to do something the same to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Wasco logo but also to illustrate the depth of her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Wasco logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design projects that I take on I genuinely relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however the client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his aversion for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge them to talk about it with colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get honest viewpoints on the value of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo recognize how vital a logo design is for their business so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo design job has it’s share of obstacles, however the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Wasco publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most crucial part of a printed book because it is usually the first thing a person views in the book shop. With respect to a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity they will ever have to promote their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart but it seems like that in many occurrences 1 of the things people tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller start-up commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a sense of air travel and it was definitely a winner.

Wasco logo style made use of for advertising as well as a label design for Vintage Instance includes an old typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be much older cases. For this custom logo design I sought to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a website to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from another generation.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Wasco, design consist of an arc with lines converging through it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo projects considering that it appears that each and every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really enjoy doing dentistry logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family members nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters surprised in height to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to summarize exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that explains itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo design created for a Wasco hair style studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo design which projected a sense of serenity and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept which didn’t go the obvious course of creating simply a stylized orchid but instead crafted a logo that implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is usually the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately laid the emphasis on the emotion that they really wanted to project to their clients.

Arabian horse logo design created for a steed cattle ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a unique logo design styled to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of horses. By having an unique head form and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most easily recognizable equine breeds in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Wasco Coffee shop logo style a small dining establishment, style contains a modified script font style which hovers over a group of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo design a tiny restaurant, layout consists of a modified script font which floats over a group of elaborate lines and also dots.

Logo design for a software application programmer the design functions and legendary Wasco element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive managing. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the meaning supporting a company logo is equally as important as how it serves the business it represents.

Advance logo layout produced for a Wascointerior developer, layout feature a collection of red circles that converge as well as replace the letter O in the middle of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Wasco interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is somebody who organizes, explores, coordinates, and oversees such ventures. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that involves conceptual development, space planning, site inspections, programming, study, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and execution of the design.

logo style provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Wasco, the personalities for letter V and A in center of the word advanced have actually been customized to tie directly into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Wasco logo design assignment was carried out for a leadership specialist that aids business professionals to develop into more efficient at managing people, expectations, and profitability.

A Wasco business logo design featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly recognized the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to market their previously owned items to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Wasco business logo design along with an image which grabs the attention of vehicles and projects an image that wakens the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this Wasco company logo style has a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t actually designed for an Wasco regional farm it was in reality designed for a commodities broker, and this company logo was one of multiple that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to create an identity that projects trust, effectiveness, and wealth.

Wasco Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo design function for externally encountering arrow and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design that they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the opportunity to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye without knowing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this case, I struck a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo design designed for the use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript typeface that is similar to a renowned Wasco sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked directly with the business owner to develop a business logo which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
