West Hollywood, California Logo Design

Nearly every new West Hollywood business knows they are in need of a logo, but few entrepreneurs entirely comprehend the key role their logo can make in their financial success, or precisely why one business logo works far better than another. A business logo has a critical and long term influence on the prosperity of a company, choose the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of a company.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help West Hollywood, California businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not demand deliberation, they can be grasped in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from labels to signboards a scalable business logo will be legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be timeless and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.
Retro logo style of a bike developed for a West Hollywood, California coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and bistro were actually opening up in an older section of the town and hoped to visualize a vintage atmosphere without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished the two jobs via designing a custom logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide and germs designed for West Hollywood, California medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which researches the causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare which works with the laboratory examination of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the sole instance I remember where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping environment-friendly frog developed for a family enjoyable center in West Hollywood, California.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental professionals, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the company features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and a tree - designed for West Hollywood, California travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but instead convey emotional experiences through the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they oftentimes convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with just words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  West Hollywood logo design but also to show the depth in her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

West Hollywood logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design projects that I take on I really enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but the customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy genuinely loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family did not share his scorn for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge them to share it with colleagues and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced point of views on the merit of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to create their logo design comprehend how important a logo is for their company so they are way more vested in the result. Every logo design project possesses it’s share of challenges, but the most significant challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, design for West Hollywood, California book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most crucial part of a printed book given that it is in most cases the primary thing a person sees in the book shop. For a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will likely ever get to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go but it seems like that in many cases one of the things people often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest new venture commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a good sense of airline flight and it was certainly a success.

West Hollywood logo design made use of for marketing as well as a label layout for Vintage Case features an old font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for musical instruments, which appeared to be vintage cases. For this custom logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid old style feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from another generation.

Logo created for an orthodontist in West Hollywood, California, layout include an arc with lines converging with it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects because it seems that every dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their company logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really enjoy doing dental business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a household nonprofit, the logo design features 4 characters surprised in elevation to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wants to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to describe precisely how people should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that describes itself won’t have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo design produced for a hair design workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo which related a sense of serenity and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a design which didn’t go the obvious route of creating just a stylized orchid but instead delivered a logo design that suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the logo design with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is in most cases the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately put the focus on the feeling that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Logo design for a software program designer the layout features as well as renowned component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk management. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it intimated something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the significance supporting a company logo is just as important as how it serves the enterprise it stands for.

A logo style featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly realized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a location to market their secondhand items to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their West Hollywood logo dsign along with an illustration that captures the attention of traffic and projects an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo style has an area included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t really designed for an West Hollywood, California regional farm it was in reality developed for an investments broker, and this particular business logo was one of a handful of that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to create a image that projects esteem, effectiveness, and prosperity.

West Hollywood Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo layout function for externally encountering arrowhead as well as the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design that they desired, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the opportunity to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without realizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the very first shot.

Logo design developed for using an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script typeface that is reminiscent of a famous sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted dozens of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked directly with the proprietor to design a business logo that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
