POINTERS ON CHOOSING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design company presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they can not refund the time you commit which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but ultimately a designer can only be judged from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t feature real life examples chances are they will never be able to produce a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s objective is to mirror your unique vision for your company. If a logo designer isn’t focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how soon they will get paid.

West Hollywood LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping business owners develop notable brand identities. We’ve done logo design work for farmers, schools, diamond miners, party planners, diners, retail stores, and practically every other kind of business concern you can imagine. What makes ImageCo unique compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every design as if it will be used as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first approach our identity designs can, and have been used in everything from clothing labels to neon signs. Our sign first technique ensures that our logo designs are equally effective whether they are used in TV commercials or website headers, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and remembered regardless of scale or application.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which seriously sets ImageCo apart from other design agencies that you may have come across in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are enlisted to do, we perform in-house. Regardless of the kind of project we take on, logo design, business website, trade show display, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our client’s work to contractors based outside the USA. Whenever you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that increases the cost of your project and dictates the conditions of how my customers and I do business.

ASPECTS OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new West Hollywood company realizes that they need a logo, yet few start ups entirely understand the key role their logo design will perform in their financial success, or the reason that one logo performs better than another. A business logo has a critical and lasting effect on the success of a business, go with the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of an organization. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help West Hollywood companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require deliberation, they can be grasped in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from label to posters a scalable business logo will stay legible and just as emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be lasting and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s a verb and also a noun, it is an identifying mark and also the act of noting something so that it could be identified, its origin comes from the brand burned onto livestock. Today a brand indicates virtually anything with a motive, regardless if it be revenue or politics, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the worth of something in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s attractive cousin, they are both from the exact same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition directed at a specific audience, it’s goal is to develop a mental image that the target market will relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When someone mentions the names Ferrari or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can deliver us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals buy those products. Brand image is why individuals buy specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Agencies – If you look back at the history of most branding agencies you’ll find that they are frequently rebranded advertising and marketing firms. When somebody states they are in advertising and marketing lots of people will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or heard are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that focuses on a kind of visual design that helps form the image of a company, a product or a business organization. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, packaging, and also collateral material such as cards, stationery, and also pamphlets. Some visual designers also build web sites and software interfaces. The essential role of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and also a psychological tone with the goal of influencing actions, results as well as perceptions.

select SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo design of a bike developed for a West Hollywood coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and bistro were opening up in an older section of the community and wished to visualize a nostalgic feel without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I fulfilled each of the jobs by developing a business logo design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria created for West Hollywood medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which investigates the triggers and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine that works with the laboratory assessment of specimens of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I recall where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Normally I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more appealing, more attention grabbing and much more memorable.

logo design with a jumping eco-friendly frog developed for a household enjoyable center in West Hollywood.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental practices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to integrate a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and also a tree - created for West Hollywood traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but instead convey emotional experiences by means of the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they often convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  West Hollywood logo but also to illustrate the depth in her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

West Hollywood logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design jobs that I take on I honestly relish and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but the client, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family didn’t share his aversion for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased opinions on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they adored the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to design their business logo recognize how essential a logo is for their business so they are much more invested in the outcome. Every logo project has it’s share of difficulties, however the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, layout for West Hollywood book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, however it is the most necessary part of a published book since it is in most cases the initial thing a person views in the book shop. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the opportunity that they will ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go yet it looks like that in many occurrences 1 of the traits individuals usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a sense of airline flight and it was surely a success.

West Hollywood logo design utilized for advertising and also a label design for Vintage Case features an archaic font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, which looked to be much older cases. For this brand concept I strove to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different generation.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in West Hollywood, layout include an arc with lines intersecting with it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects because it appears that every single dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dental practitioners do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I actually love doing dental care logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a layout that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 characters staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to explain specifically how people should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that explains itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo layout produced for a West Hollywood hair design studio including a script font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo design that related an atmosphere of serenity and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a concept that did not go the obvious path of making simply a stylized orchid but rather created a logo design which suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is in most cases the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately placed the emphasis on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Arabian steed logo layout produced for a horse ranch that specializes in reproducing Arabian show equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a unique custom logo design customized to epitomize the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of equines. By having a distinctive head shape and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the highly immediately identifiable horse lineages in the world.

Las Cafe, A West Hollywood Coffee shop logo style a little restaurant, layout contains a changed script font which hovers above a group of ornate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo design a small dining establishment, style includes a customized manuscript font which floats over a team of ornate lines and also dots.

Logo layout for a software program designer the layout features and iconic West Hollywood element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a connection in between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it meant something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the meaning supporting a logo design is just as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

Evolve logo style produced for a West Hollywoodinterior developer, layout attribute a series of red circles that intersect and replace the letter O in the middle of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a West Hollywood interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who plans, researches, coordinates, and oversees such projects. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that involves conceptual development, space planning, location assessments, programming, study, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and execution of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in West Hollywood, the characters for letter V and A in middle of words progressed have been customized to link straight right into words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular West Hollywood logo design assignment was performed for a leadership coach that enables business leaders to develop into more efficient at managing people, expectations, and profitability.

A West Hollywood business logo layout including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly understood the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a location to sell off their secondhand items to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their West Hollywood business logo design along with an illustration which seizes the interest of vehicles and projects an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo layout MQ ranches, this West Hollywood company logo layout has actually an area integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand idea wasn’t actually developed for an West Hollywood area farm it was really designed for an investments broker, and this particular company logo was one of several that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to generate a graphic that projects self-confidence, financial success, and prosperity.

West Hollywood Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo layout feature for outwardly facing arrowhead and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the flexibility to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye in the absence of understanding where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this particular case, I nailed a bullseye with the first try.

Logo design developed for making use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is reminiscent of a renowned West Hollywood sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed loads of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked directly with the owner to design a business logo that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
