Windsor Logo Design

Every new Windsor venture understands that they need a logo, but few entrepreneurs fully are aware of the key role their logo design can make in their success, or exactly why one business logo performs better than another. A company logo has a critical and long term impact on the growth of a company, pick the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of an organization. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Windsor companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require scrutiny, they can be comprehended in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

Retro logo style of a bicycle created for a Windsor coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee bar were opening in an older section of town and wished to visualize an old-fashioned atmosphere without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I achieved each of the jobs by means of creating a symbol design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide and also germs designed for Windsor medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that examines the triggers and outcomes of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare that works with the clinical assessment of samplings of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I remember in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more interesting, more focus grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo layout with a leaping environment-friendly frog designed for a household fun center in Windsor.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the types of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a better dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and a tree - designed for Windsor travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but rather convey emotional experiences by means of the images they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they oftentimes tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with just words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Windsor logo but also to illustrate the depth of her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Windsor logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design jobs that I take on I really take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but the client, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy genuinely despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family didn’t share his hatred for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get objective assessments on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they adored the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their logo realize how important a logo is for their organization so they are much more invested in the result. Every logo design job has it’s share of obstacles, however the largest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Windsor book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender piece of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most vital part of a published book because it is in most cases the first thing a person sees in the bookstore. Regarding a publisher, it’s the opportunity that they will likely ever get to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go however it seems that in many cases one of the things folks often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest fledgling commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a sense of air travel and it was surely a winner.

Windsor logo design used for advertising and marketing and a tag style for Vintage Case includes an old font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this brand concept I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be used for everything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different era.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Windsor, design consist of an arc with lines converging with it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can be one of the most challenging logo design projects because it seems that almost every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dental practices do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I actually love doing dentistry logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 characters startled in height to stand for a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to describe how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that describes itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo style developed for a hair style workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo that conveyed a sense of peace and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept which did not go the obvious direction of crafting simply a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a company logo that implied a flower in the formation of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design using the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is in most cases the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the emphasis on the emotion that they really wanted to project to their customers.

Arabian horse logo layout developed for a steed ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo design for a software application designer the style functions as well as legendary component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive managing. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the substance behind a logo is just as important as how it brands the business it stands for.

A logo design featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly understood the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a spot to sell off their secondhand products to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Windsor business logo dsign with an image which captures the interest of traffic and sends an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo layout has an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t actually designed for an Windsor area farm it was really devised for an investments broker, and this particular trademark was one of multiple which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was to produce an identity that projected assurance, success, and prosperity.
Logo design developed for the use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script typeface that is similar to a renowned sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created dozens of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked closely with the business owner to design a logo that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
