Calgary, Canada Logo Design

Each and every new Calgary business realizes that they need a logo, but few entrepreneurs thoroughly understand the crucial role their organization’s logo can play in their becoming successful, or precisely why one business logo works more effectively than another. A logo has a critical and lasting impact on the prosperity of a business, choose the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, select the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life of a company.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Calgary, Canada companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require scrutiny, they can be understood in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to movie screens a scalable business logo will be legible and just as emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be ageless and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.
Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Calgary, Canada coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and bistro were opening in an older part of the city and hoped to visualize a nostalgic tone without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled both of these tasks by means of designing a business logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria created for Calgary, Canada clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which researches the causes and consequences of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare that deals with the clinical evaluation of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recollect in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more attention grabbing and more meaningful.

logo layout with a leaping green frog designed for a family enjoyable facility in Calgary, Canada.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental practices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - made for Calgary, Canada traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche field because travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead project emotional journeys by means of the images they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of most good photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Calgary logo design but also to show the depth to her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Calgary logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design projects that I take on I honestly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but the customer, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy truly hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family did not share his scorn for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge all of them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced viewpoints on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Business logos are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to design their logo realize how important a logo is for their business so they are much more invested in the result. Every logo design project has it’s share of difficulties, however the most significant obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Calgary, Canada book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, however it really is the most critical part of a printed book considering that it is often the initial thing a person views in the bookstore. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will ever get to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart but it looks like that in many instances 1 of the traits folks usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a sense of flight and it was certainly a winner.

Calgary logo layout utilized for advertising as well as a label design for Vintage Instance features an old typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be older cases. For this brand concept I attempted to come up with a logo that had a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another era.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Calgary, Canada, layout include an arc with lines converging with it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can easily be one of the most difficult logo jobs because it appears that every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dental professionals do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really enjoy doing dental care logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a household not-for-profit, the logo features 4 characters startled in height to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to illustrate exactly how people should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo design produced for a hair layout workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a business logo which carried a feeling of serenity and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious course of crafting just a stylized orchid but rather created a logo which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is usually the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the main focus on the feeling that they really wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a one-of-a-kind logo design styled to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of horses. By having a different head shape and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most immediately identifiable horse breeds in the whole world.

Las Cafe logo style a little restaurant, style consists of a customized script typeface which floats over a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo style for a software program designer the layout functions and also renowned element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and hard drive operations. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it meant something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the symbolism supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it stands for.

A logo style featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly knew the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a spot to sell off their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Calgary logo design dsign along with a graphic which pulls in the attention of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo design has actually a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t really designed for an Calgary, Canada regional farm it was in reality devised for an investments broker, and this particular business logo was one of a handful of that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to generate a graphic that projects self-assurance, financial success, and prosperity.

Calgary Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo layout feature for ostensibly dealing with arrowhead and also the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design that they wanted, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the flexibility to explore any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this case, I struck a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo created for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font style that is reminiscent of a well-known sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted dozens of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project in which I worked closely with the business owner to design a business logo which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
