Montréal, Canada Logo Design

Nearly every new Montréal business professional realizes that they need a logo, however few entrepreneurs fully realize the vital role their organization’s logo will perform in their becoming successful, or exactly why one logo design performs more effectively than another. A business logo has an instant and sustaining impact on the financial success of a business, choose the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a company.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Montréal, Canada businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require contemplation, they can be comprehended in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will stay legible and just as emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be ageless and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.
Retro logo style of a bicycle produced for a Montréal, Canada coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening up in an older part of the town and wanted to project a nostalgic atmosphere without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished each of the tasks by developing a company logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide as well as bacteria created for Montréal, Canada medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which researches the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the field of medicine that deals with the clinical examination of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the sole instance I remember in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more appealing, more attention grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo style with a leaping environment-friendly frog designed for a family enjoyable facility in Montréal, Canada.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the company features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a group of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and a tree - developed for Montréal, Canada travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality because travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but rather convey emotional experiences by means of the photos they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of most good photographers in that they oftentimes share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be revealed with mere words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Montréal logo design but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Montréal logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely relish and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members did not share his aversion for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get honest assessments on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they adored the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to design their business logo comprehend how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are much more invested in the result. Every logo job possesses it’s allotment of challenges, however the largest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, design for Montréal, Canada book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, however it really is the most important part of a printed book given that it is usually the initial thing a person sees in the book shop. Concerning a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will ever get to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart nevertheless it seems like that in many occurrences 1 of the traits consumers tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young startup commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a spirit of air travel and it was surely a success.

Montréal logo design utilized for advertising and marketing and a tag style for Vintage Situation features an old font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be older cases. For this logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that had a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from another era.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Montréal, Canada, layout include an arc with lines intersecting with it to imply metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects due to the fact that it appears that almost every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental professionals do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I actually love doing dentist logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 characters staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to illustrate exactly how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that describes itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout produced for a hair style workshop including a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo design which projected a spirit of ease and class for their new hair studio. I created a concept that didn’t go the obvious direction of making just a stylized orchid but alternatively designed a business logo which suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl blended into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is more often than not the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the main focus on the emotion that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Logo style for a software program developer the layout features as well as legendary aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive managing. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a connection between the software and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the symbolism behind a business logo is just as important as how it serves the company it stands for.

A logo layout featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly recognized the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a place to market their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Montréal logo design dsign with a graphic which garners the interest of traffic and sends an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo style has an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo concept wasn’t actually produced for an Montréal, Canada regional farm it was actually developed for a products broker, and this particular business logo was one of many that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to design a brand mark that projects self-confidence, financial success, and opulence.

Montréal Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo layout feature for ostensibly dealing with arrowhead and also the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design that they desired, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the flexibility to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without understanding where the target is. Thankfully, in this particular case, I hit a bullseye with the very first shot.

Logo design developed for the use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is evocative a popular sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted quite a lot of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project in which I worked closely with the proprietor to create a logo which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
