Cimarron Hills, Colorado Logo Design

Every new Cimarron Hills business person knows they are in need of a logo, but few new business owners entirely understand the crucial role their logo design can play in their financial success, or exactly why one logo performs far better than another. A logo design has an immediate and sustaining impact on the viability of a company, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of an organization.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Cimarron Hills, Colorado companies prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand consideration, they can be comprehended in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo will stay legible and equally emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be timeless and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.
Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Cimarron Hills, Colorado coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening up in an old part of the city and wanted to project a nostalgic tone without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both of these tasks by developing a symbol concept that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and also germs created for Cimarron Hills, Colorado clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which investigates the causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that deals with the clinical assessment of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I recall in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, yet it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping environment-friendly frog created for a household fun facility in Cimarron Hills, Colorado.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental practices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to feature a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and also a tree - designed for Cimarron Hills, Colorado traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche field because travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but instead project emotional journeys through the pictures they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they frequently convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with mere words. I attempted to do something very similar to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Cimarron Hills logo but also to reveal the depth in her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Cimarron Hills logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design projects that I take on I seriously enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but the customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family did not share his hatred for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage all of them to share it with colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get honest point of views on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to design their business logo understand how vital a logo design is for their organization so they are much more vested in the end result. Every logo design project has it’s share of challenges, but the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Cimarron Hills, Colorado book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most necessary part of a printed book because it is in most cases the initial thing a person sees in the book store. For a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will likely ever have to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it looks like that in many occurrences one of the things consumers often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller start-up commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a spirit of airline flight and it was surely a success.

Cimarron Hills logo layout used for advertising and marketing and a label layout for Vintage Situation includes an old-fashioned typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be older cases. For this business logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that had a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another era.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Cimarron Hills, Colorado, design consist of an arc with lines converging through it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging logo design jobs considering that it appears that every single dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company marketing, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really enjoy doing dental business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 characters startled in height to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to illustrate how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that explains itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo layout created for a hair style studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a business logo that projected a spirit of simplicity and class for their new hair salon. I created a concept that did not go the obvious direction of creating simply a stylized orchid but alternatively created a logo that suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is frequently the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the emphasis on the perception that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Logo layout for a software application designer the layout attributes as well as renowned element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive operations. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the meaning supporting a logo is just as important as how it brands the enterprise it stands for.

A logo style including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly understood the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a place to sell their secondhand products to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Cimarron Hills business logo dsign utilizing an illustration which garners the interest of traffic and sends an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Cimarron Hills Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo style function for outwardly facing arrow and also the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the freedom to investigate any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of recognizing where the target is. Luckily, in this case, I hit a bullseye with the very first go.

Logo design developed for using an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is similar to a renowned sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked directly with the proprietor to produce a logo design that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
