STRATEGIES ON PICKING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design company offers a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they simply cannot reimburse the time you invest which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but inevitably a design firm can only be judged from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t contain real world examples chances are they won’t be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s purpose is to reflect your personal vision for your company. If a designer isn’t focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how soon they can get paid.

Colorado Springs LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping businesses of all kinds cultivate memorable brand identities. We’ve done branding work for mechanics, colleges, diamond miners, wedding singers, diners, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business you can think of. What makes us unique compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every design as if it will be used as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first method our designs can, and have been utilized in everything from garment labels to neon signs. Our sign first method ensures that our logos are equally reliable whether they are used in television commercials or website applications, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and remembered no matter of scale or application.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which really sets ImageCo apart from many of the design firms that you may have found in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are brought on board to do, we perform ourselves. Regardless of the type of project we take on, brand identity design, business website, trade show display, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will job out our client’s projects to contractors located outside the US. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that marks up the cost of your project and imposes the terms of how my customers and I conduct business.

ASPECTS OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new Colorado Springs business knows they need a logo, however few start ups fully understand the crucial role their company logo will perform in their success, or precisely why one business logo performs far better than another. A company logo has an instant and long-term influence on the prosperity of a business, select the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Colorado Springs companies prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not need consideration, they can be understood in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from label to store signs a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at every scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the item or business they brand.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be timeless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It is a verb as well as a noun, it is an identifying mark and the act of marking something to make sure that it can be identified, its origin originates from the mark burned onto animals. These days a brand symbolizes basically anything with a motive, regardless of whether it be profit or political parties, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the worth of a specific thing in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s attractive sister, they are all from the very same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition aimed at a specific audience, it’s goal is to develop a mental image that the target market can relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When a person states the brand names Ferrari or Mustang what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people want those brands. Brand image is why individuals acquire most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the history of most branding agencies you’ll discover that they are quite often rebranded advertising agencies. When a person states they are in marketing lots of people will likely have a preconceived notion about what they do. However when a person claims “I’m in branding”… it simply sounds more attractive, perhaps it’s because most individuals don’t understand what it implies to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and even attractive.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that explains the visual elements of a product or business that influence understandings. This mostly includes the name, the logo design, the product packaging, the colors utilized however can likewise consist of sound, lights, texture, signage, actually anything that can be seen, touched or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a designer that specializes in a kind of visual design that helps form the image of a firm, a product or a business organization. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, signage designs, packaging, and collateral products such as cards, stationery, as well as pamphlets. Some visual designers also build web sites and software interfaces. The necessary duty of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and an emotional tone with the goal of affecting activities, results as well as assumptions.

select logos & signs

Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a Colorado Springs coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually launching in an older section of town and hoped to visualize a vintage atmosphere without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both of these jobs via designing a business logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide as well as germs made for Colorado Springs medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which studies the triggers and outcomes of diseases, especially the branch of medicine which works with the laboratory examination of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the only instance I recall where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Usually I try not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, however it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more appealing, more focus grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping green frog created for a family fun facility in Colorado Springs.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental offices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more dynamic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo including a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Colorado Springs traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but rather reveal emotional journeys through the images they record. The thought behind this logo concept was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they oftentimes share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I tried to do something the same to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Colorado Springs logo design but also to reveal the depth to her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Colorado Springs logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design projects that I take on I genuinely relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but my client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy genuinely hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his hatred for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced opinions on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to create their logo understand how important a logo is for their business so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo design job possesses it’s allotment of hurdles, but the most significant obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Colorado Springs publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, yet it is the most crucial part of a printed book given that it is ordinarily the primary thing a person sees in the book store. Regarding a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will ever get to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go nevertheless it seems that in many instances 1 of the aspects individuals often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small fledgling commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a good sense of flight and it was undoubtedly a success.

Colorado Springs logo layout made use of for advertising and marketing as well as a label design for Vintage Instance includes an old-fashioned font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for musical instruments, which seemed to be antique cases. For this custom logo design I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another generation.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Colorado Springs, style include an arc with lines converging through it to suggest metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo design jobs due to the fact that it seems that each and every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dentists do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really love doing dental care logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities staggered in elevation to stand for a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to summarize precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that describes itself won’t have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a Colorado Springs hair layout workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo design which projected an atmosphere of serenity and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a design which didn’t go the obvious course of crafting merely a stylized orchid but instead crafted a logo which suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is usually the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately placed the importance on the emotion that they wanted to project to their patrons.

Arabian equine logo design developed for an equine cattle ranch that specializes in reproducing Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a unique business logo concept customized to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of equines. By having an unique head shape and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the most easily identifiable horse types in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Colorado Springs Coffee shop logo design a small restaurant, style includes a modified script typeface which hovers over a group of ornate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo style a tiny dining establishment, style contains a customized script font which hovers above a team of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Logo layout for a software application designer the layout attributes as well as legendary Colorado Springs aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and drive operations. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge between the software and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it intimated something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the meaning behind a logo is equally as important as how it serves the enterprise it stands for.

Progress logo design developed for a Colorado Springsindoor designer, design feature a collection of red circles that intersect as well as change the letter O in the middle of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Colorado Springs interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a person who prepares, investigates, collaborates, and oversees such projects. Interior design is a diverse occupation that includes conceptual development, space planning, site evaluations, programming, analysis, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and implementation of the design.

logo design done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Colorado Springs, the characters for letter V and A in center of words progressed have been customized to link directly into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Colorado Springs logo design assignment was performed for a leadership specialist that aids business professionals to become more efficient at supervising people, expectations, and productivity.

A Colorado Springs business logo style including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a spot to market their used goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Colorado Springs logo design along with an illustration that captures the attention of traffic and projects an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo layout MQ ranches, this Colorado Springs company logo design has actually a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem design wasn’t actually designed for an Colorado Springs regional farm it was in reality designed for a products broker, and this trademark was one of a handful of that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to develop a graphic that projected trust, financial success, and affluence.

Colorado Springs Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo layout feature for outwardly facing arrowhead as well as the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the liberty to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without realizing where the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I struck a bullseye with the very first go.

Logo design made for using an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font style that is evocative a well-known Colorado Springs sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created loads of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked directly with the owner to create a logo design that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
