TIPS FOR SELECTING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design firm presents a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they can not reimburse the time you invest which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but in the end a design agency can only be evaluated by the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio does not contain real world samples odds are they will not be able to deliver a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s goal is to reflect your personal vision for your business. If a designer isn’t focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they will get paid.

Commerce City LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping small business owners establish notable brand identities. We have performed brand identity design work for farmers, schools, heart surgeons, wedding singers, coffee shops, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business concern you can think of. What makes ImageCo different compared to traditional designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every design as though it will be used as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first approach our designs can, and have been employed in everything from garment labels to electrical signs. Our sign first approach guarantees that our logo designs are just as reliable whether they are used in television commercials or website applications, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and remembered regardless of scale or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which truly sets ImageCo apart from other design agencies that you might have stumbled upon online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are brought on board to perform, we do ourselves. Regardless of the type of design project we take on, logo, website, trade show display, or electric sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our customer’s work to agencies based outside the US. When you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that increases the cost of your design project and determines the terms of how you and I conduct business.

ASPECTS OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new Commerce City company knows they probably need a logo, but few start-ups thoroughly recognize the key role their logo design will make in their success, or exactly why one logo design functions better than another. A logo has an immediate and lasting impact on the viability of a company, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life span of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Commerce City businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not need scrutiny, they can be grasped in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to billboards a scalable logo will stay legible and equally emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the item or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be enduring and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.

understand your brand

Brand – It is a verb and also a noun, it is an identifying mark and also the act of denoting something so that it can be identified, its origin comes from the mark burned onto livestock. Nowadays a brand signifies practically anything with a motive, regardless of whether it be earnings or political parties, a brand is an innate aspect of defining the value of something in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s attractive cousin, they are all from the same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest targeted at a specific audience, it’s objective is to produce a mental image that the target market will likely identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated by advertising and marketing and identity design. When somebody states the names Ferrari or Mustang what we think about is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and that is what makes people purchase those brands. Brand image is why individuals get specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Agencies – If you reflect on the origin of most branding agencies you’ll find that they are often re-branded marketing and advertising agencies. When someone says they are in advertising and marketing most people will likely have a preconceived notion about what they do. However when a person says “I’m in branding”… it simply sounds much more impressive, maybe it’s since the majority of people don’t recognize what it means to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and kind of sexy.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that describes the visual elements of a product or agency that affect perceptions. This primarily consists of the name, the logo, the product packaging, the colors utilized yet can also include audio, lighting, texture, signage, really anything that can be seen, touched or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a designer that concentrates on a type of visual design that helps form the public image of a business, a product or a company. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, packaging, as well as collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and sales brochures. Some identity designers also develop web sites and also software interfaces. The crucial duty of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues as well as a psychological tone with the objective of influencing actions, outcomes as well as assumptions.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo design of a bike produced for a Commerce City coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening in an old section of the town and wished to visualize a retro vibe without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I achieved the two jobs by designing a sign concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide as well as germs developed for Commerce City medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which examines the triggers and outcomes of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare that works with the clinical assessment of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recall where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Usually I try not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, yet it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and much more memorable.

logo layout with a leaping green frog created for a family enjoyable center in Commerce City.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental practices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the company features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and also a tree - designed for Commerce City traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but instead communicate emotional experiences through the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they oftentimes convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be communicated with mere words. I tried to do something similar to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Commerce City logo design but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Commerce City logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I honestly savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but the client, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his scorn for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge all of them to talk about it with colleagues and family members as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get honest viewpoints on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they really liked the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logos are a strange creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo design realize how essential a logo design is for their business so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo job has it’s share of difficulties, but the largest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, style for Commerce City publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, but it really is the most critical part of a published book due to the fact that it is in most cases the first thing a person sees in the book store. For a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity that they will ever get to publicize their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it looks like that in many occurrences one of the traits folks often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young startup commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a spirit of air travel and it was surely a winner.

Commerce City logo style utilized for advertising and marketing and also a label design for Vintage Case includes an antiquated font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand-new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for everything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from another point in time.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Commerce City, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to imply metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can be one of the most difficult logo projects because it appears that every single dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dental practices do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I actually love doing dentistry business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters surprised in elevation to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to summarize specifically how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that explains itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo design created for a Commerce City hair layout studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a business logo which projected a sense of peace and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept that didn’t go the obvious direction of crafting merely a stylized orchid but rather created a company logo which suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is frequently the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the importance on the feeling that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian equine logo design developed for a steed cattle ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian show steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a distinct logotype concept customized to epitomize the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. With an unique head shape and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the highly easily recognizable equine lineages in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Commerce City restaurant logo design a tiny restaurant, layout contains a customized manuscript typeface which hovers over a team of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo layout a little dining establishment, layout consists of a customized script font which hovers over a group of ornate lines and dots.

Logo style for a software application programmer the design attributes as well as famous Commerce City component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive management. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge between the software and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the substance behind a logo design is just as important as how it serves the company it stands for.

Evolve logo style produced for a Commerce Cityinterior designer, design feature a series of red circles that intersect and also replace the letter O in the center of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Commerce City interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is somebody who organizes, investigates, coordinates, and manages such ventures. Interior design is a diverse occupation that consists of conceptual development, area planning, location evaluations, programming, research study, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo style provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Commerce City, the personalities for letter V as well as A in middle of words advanced have actually been customized to connect directly into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Commerce City logo design project was undertaken for a leadership coach that assists business leaders to become more effective at supervising people, expectations, and profitability.

A Commerce City business logo layout featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly realized the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a spot to sell off their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Commerce City logo design design using a graphic which pulls in the attention of vehicles and projects an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.

Logo layout MQ farms, this Commerce City company logo design has actually an area integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t really composed for an Commerce City regional farm it was actually developed for a products broker, and this trademark was one of several which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to design a graphic that projects trust, effectiveness, and luxury.

Commerce City Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for externally dealing with arrowhead and also the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the flexibility to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this instance, I hit a bullseye with the very first shot.

Logo design developed for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript typeface that is similar to a well-known Commerce City sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted loads of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked closely with the business owner to design a logo design that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
