POINTERS ON SELECTING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design company offers a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they simply cannot reimburse the time you invest which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many design firms talk a good game but in the end a designer can only be evaluated by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t feature real world samples odds are they won’t be able to produce a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s objective is to echo your personal vision for your company. If a designer is not focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they can get paid.

Denver LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs cultivate memorable brand identities. We’ve done brand design work for builders, universities, diamond miners, wedding singers, restaurants, retailers, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can think of. What makes us different compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every design as though it will be employed as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first method our brand identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from garment labels to electrical signs. Our sign first method insures that our logos are equally successful whether they are used in television commercials or web applications, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and remembered regardless of scale or function.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which truly sets ImageCo apart from many of the design agencies that you might have stumbled upon in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are brought on board to perform, we do ourselves. Irrespective of the type of design project we take on, business logo, web site, trade show display, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will job-out our client’s work to companies located outside the USA. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that marks up the cost of your design project and imposes the terms of how you and I conduct business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Every new Denver entrepreneur realizes that they require a logo, however few start ups fully realize the essential role their business logo will perform in their financial success, or the reason that one logo design works better than another. A logo has an immediate and sustaining influence on the financial success of a company, pick the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of an organization. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Denver businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require scrutiny, they can be grasped in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to retail signs a scalable logo design will remain legible and just as emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the item or organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be ageless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s a verb and a noun, it is an identifying mark and also the process of denoting something to ensure that it could be distinguished, its genesis originates from the mark burned onto livestock. These days a brand indicates virtually anything with an objective, regardless of whether it be profit or government agencies, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the value of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s attractive sister, they are each from the exact same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition directed at a target audience, it’s goal is to develop a mental image that the audience will identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing and also identity design. When somebody says the brand names Lamborghini or Mustang what we think about is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes people purchase those products. Brand image is why people acquire specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Firms – If you reflect on the history of many branding firms you’ll discover that they are frequently rebranded marketing agencies. When somebody claims they are in advertising and marketing many people will likely have a preconceived notion about what they do. However when somebody says “I am in branding”… it simply sounds more impressive, perhaps it’s due to the fact that most people don’t recognize what it means to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and perhaps even sexy.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that explains the visual elements of a product or business that influence view points. This mainly includes the name, the logo design, the packaging, the colors used but can also consist of audio, illumination, texture, signage, actually anything that can be seen, touched or heard become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that focuses on a type of visual design that helps shape the perception of a company, a product or a business organization. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, signage designs, packaging, and also collateral material such as cards, stationery, and also pamphlets. Some visual designers also build web sites and user interfaces. The crucial duty of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the objective of affecting activities, end results and also assumptions.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo design of a bicycle created for a Denver coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and cafe were actually opening up in an older section of the town and hoped to visualize an old-fashioned atmosphere without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished both jobs via designing a sign concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and germs designed for Denver clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that analyzes the causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of medicine which deals with the clinical assessment of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves very literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more captivating, more focus grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo layout with a jumping green frog designed for a family enjoyable facility in Denver.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental professionals, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a much more dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo including a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and also a tree - made for Denver traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector because travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but rather reveal emotional experiences through the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they often share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with mere words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Denver logo design but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Denver logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design jobs that I take on I seriously relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however the customer, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his hatred for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get objective assessments on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they adored the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Business logos are a weird animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to design their logo recognize how important a logo design is for their business so they are way more invested in the final result. Every logo job possesses it’s allotment of challenges, but the most significant obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, design for Denver publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most crucial part of a printed book considering that it is often the very first thing a person views in the bookstore. Regarding a publisher, it’s the best opportunity they will ever get to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it looks like that in many instances 1 of the items people often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest fledgling commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a spirit of flight and it was undoubtedly a victory.

Denver logo style utilized for marketing and also a label design for Vintage Instance includes an old font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be antique cases. For this logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Denver, layout consist of an arc with lines converging via it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo design projects considering that it appears that almost every dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really enjoy doing dental business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 characters startled in elevation to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to explain exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo design developed for a Denver hair layout workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo that communicated an atmosphere of calmness and connection for their new hair studio. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious path of designing just a stylized orchid but instead crafted a business logo that suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept using the figure of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is generally the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the main focus on the perception that they really wanted to project to their customers.

Arabian horse logo layout created for a steed cattle ranch that specializes in reproducing Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted a unique company logo design tailored to display the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of horses. With an unique head shape and very high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most immediately recognizable horse types in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Denver Coffee shop logo style a little dining establishment, design contains a customized script font which hovers over a group of ornate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo style a tiny dining establishment, design consists of a customized script font style which floats over a group of ornate lines as well as dots.

Logo layout for a software designer the style functions as well as famous Denver element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive management. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the significance supporting a logo design is just as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

Evolve logo layout developed for a Denverinterior designer, layout function a collection of red circles that converge and replace the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Denver interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who organizes, explores, coordinates, and manages such ventures. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that includes conceptual development, space planning, site examinations, programming, research, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and execution of the design.

logo layout provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Denver, the characters for letter V and A in middle of words progressed have been modified to connect directly into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Denver logo design project was undertaken for a leadership advisor that helps business leaders to become more successful at managing people, expectations, and profitability.

A Denver business logo layout featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly understood the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a spot to sell their used items to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Denver logo design using a graphic that grabs the attention of vehicles and sends an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo style MQ farms, this Denver company logo style has an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo design wasn’t actually created for an Denver area farm it was in reality created for a commodities broker, and this brand was one of many which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was actually to generate a graphic that projects trust, effectiveness, and opulence.

Denver Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo style function for ostensibly facing arrow as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design they wanted, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the opportunity to investigate any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without understanding where the target is. Thankfully, in this particular instance, I struck a bullseye with the first go.

Logo made for the use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font that is similar to a popular Denver sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed dozens of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the owner to create a business logo which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
