TIPS FOR IDENTIFYING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design firm offers a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can not reimburse the time you commit which is eminently more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but in the end a designer can only be evaluated from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio does not feature real world samples odds are they won’t be able to deliver a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s purpose is to mirror your personal vision for your organization. If a logo designer isn’t focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how soon they can get paid.

Durango LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping businesses of all kinds establish notable brands. We’ve performed branding work for builders, colleges, heart surgeons, party planners, diners, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business you can think of. What makes us unique compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every design as if it will be utilized as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first strategy our identity designs can, and have been used in everything from garment labels to electrical signs. Our sign first technique guarantees that our logo designs are just as effective whether they are used in TV commercials or website headers, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and always remembered regardless of size or application.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference that truly sets ImageCo apart from many of the design companies that you probably have found on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are brought on board to perform, we do ourselves. No matter the type of design project we take on, logo design, web page, trade show banners, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will farm out our customer’s work to companies located outside the United States. When you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that increases the price of your project and determines the terms of how we do business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Every new Durango organization realizes that they probably need a logo, but few start ups thoroughly recognize the key role their logo design will make in their financial success, or the reason that one business logo works more effectively than another. A logo design has a critical and long-term impact on the viability of a company, select the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the life span of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Durango companies succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require consideration, they can be understood in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to retail signs a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the item or organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo should be ageless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It is both a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the act of noting something so that it could be recognized, its genesis originates from the mark branded onto livestock. Nowadays a brand symbolizes basically anything with an objective, regardless if it be revenue or politics, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of specifying the worth of a specific thing in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s attractive sister, they are each from the very same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition directed at a target market, it’s objective is to create a mental image that the audience will likely relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When somebody says the names Lamborghini or Mustang what we consider is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can deliver us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals want those products. Brand image is why people identify with most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Agencies – If you look back at the history of the majority of branding firms you’ll discover that they are often rebranded advertising companies. When someone claims they are in advertising most individuals will likely have an idea about what they do. However when someone states “I’m in branding”… it simply sounds much more attractive, possibly it’s due to the fact that lots of people don’t know what it suggests to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and even sexy.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that defines the visual components of a product or agency that influence view points. This largely includes the name, the logo design, the packaging, the different colors used but can additionally include sound, lighting, texture, signs, actually anything that can be seen, touched or listened to are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that specializes in a kind of visual design that helps form the perception of a company, a product or a business. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, signage designs, packaging, and also collateral material such as cards, stationery, as well as pamphlets. Some visual designers also develop websites and also user interfaces. The vital function of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the goal of influencing activities, end results as well as assumptions.

select signs/logos

Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a Durango coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and bistro were opening up in an older part of the community and wanted to visualize a vintage tone without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished both jobs by developing a custom logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and also bacteria created for Durango clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which researches the root causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare which works with the laboratory assessment of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recall where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves rather literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more captivating, more focus grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo design with a leaping eco-friendly frog created for a family enjoyable center in Durango.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental professionals, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more lively high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and also a tree - created for Durango travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather project emotional journeys through the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they oftentimes share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with mere words. I made an effort to do something the same to this logo by using the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Durango logo design but also to reveal the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Durango logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design jobs that I take on I honestly savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however my customer, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his contempt for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage all of them to talk about it with friends and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get neutral assessments on the benefit of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Business logos are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to create their logo recognize how essential a logo is for their business so they are way more vested in the result. Every logo project has it’s share of hurdles, however the biggest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Durango publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most important part of a published book because it is in most cases the initial thing a person views in the book store. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will likely ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart nevertheless it seems like that in many instances 1 of the things people often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller start-up commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a spirit of flight and it was surely a victory.

Durango logo style utilized for advertising and marketing and a label style for Vintage Situation features an archaic font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be older cases. For this business logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that provided a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another generation.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Durango, design consist of an arc with lines converging with it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo projects because it appears that virtually every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dental offices do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really enjoy doing dental logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities startled in height to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to describe exactly how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo design created for a Durango hair layout workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo that communicated a sense of contentment and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a design that did not go the obvious path of making just a stylized orchid but rather delivered a logo design that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is oftentimes the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the attention on the perception that they really wanted to forecast to their customers.

Arabian steed logo layout developed for a horse ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a unique brand concept styled to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of horses. By having an unique head form and high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly easily recognizable horse types in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Durango restaurant logo layout a tiny restaurant, style consists of a modified script font style which hovers over a team of ornate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a tiny dining establishment, style consists of a changed manuscript font which floats over a team of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Logo layout for a software designer the style features as well as renowned Durango component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge in between the software and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the substance supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the organization it stands for.

Advance logo layout produced for a Durangointerior designer, style feature a series of red circles that intersect and change the letter O in the middle of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Durango interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is an individual who organizes, investigates, coordinates, and manages such ventures. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that involves conceptual development, area planning, location inspections, programming, research study, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and implementation of the design.

logo design provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Durango, the characters for letter V as well as A in center of words advanced have been customized to link straight right into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Durango logo design job was done for a management coach that helps business professionals to become more effective at overseeing people, expectations, and profitability.

A Durango business logo design featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly knew the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a location to sell their used products to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Durango logo design design along with an illustration that pulls in the attention of vehicles and projects an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.

Logo style MQ farms, this Durango company logo layout has an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo design wasn’t actually designed for an Durango regional farm it was in reality created for a products broker, and this particular trademark was one of many that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to make a image that projects trust, success, and prosperity.

Durango Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo design function for ostensibly encountering arrow as well as the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the freedom to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this instance, I hit a bullseye with the 1st shot.

Logo design created for the use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font that is evocative a renowned Durango sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted loads of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project in which I worked closely with the business owner to create a logo that worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
