Highlands Ranch Logo Design

Virtually every new Highlands Ranch company knows they need a logo, but few entrepreneurs fully realize the pivotal role their logo can play in their financial success, or the reason that one logo works better than another. A logo design has an instant and long term effect on the success of a business, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Highlands Ranch companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require deliberation, they can be grasped in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be timeless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a Highlands Ranch coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually opening in an old part of the area and really wanted to cast a vintage feel without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled the two jobs by means of designing a custom logo design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide as well as bacteria made for Highlands Ranch medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which analyzes the causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare which deals with the laboratory evaluation of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Typically I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more interesting, more attention grabbing and more memorable.

logo design with a leaping green frog created for a family members fun center in Highlands Ranch.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dentists, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo including a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Highlands Ranch traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but rather communicate emotional journeys by means of the images they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they often convey whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I tried to do something similar to this logo by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Highlands Ranch logo design but also to reveal the depth to her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Highlands Ranch logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design projects that I take on I seriously savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man truly hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his contempt for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to share it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get neutral assessments on the worthiness of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo understand how important a logo design is for their business so they are much more vested in the final result. Every logo design project possesses it’s allotment of challenges, but the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Highlands Ranch book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, however it is the most essential part of a published book due to the fact that it is in most cases the very first thing a person views in the bookstore. Regarding a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will likely ever get to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it looks like that in many instances one of the aspects folks often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest new venture commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a spirit of air travel and it was certainly a victory.

Highlands Ranch logo style used for marketing and also a tag design for Vintage Instance includes an old-fashioned font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be vintage cases. For this brand design I tried to come up with a logo that offered a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Highlands Ranch, design include an arc with lines converging via it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging logo design projects considering that it seems that almost every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their company logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I actually love doing dentist business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 characters surprised in elevation to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to describe precisely how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that describes itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a hair layout studio featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo that projected a sense of simplicity and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious course of making simply a stylized orchid but rather crafted a logo design that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the logo design along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is usually the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the main focus on the emotion that they really wanted to forecast to their customers.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo design for a software application programmer the design attributes as well as legendary component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive management. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it meant something to the owner of the company and in many cases the meaning behind a logo design is just as important as how it serves the business it represents.

A logo layout featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly knew the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a location to market their secondhand equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Highlands Ranch business logo dsign with an image which pulls in the interest of vehicles and projects an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo layout has actually a field incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t actually developed for an Highlands Ranch area farm it was actually devised for a commodities broker, and this particular logo design was one of multiple which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to develop a brand mark that projected assurance, financial success, and luxury.
Logo developed for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is similar to a well-known sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed quite a lot of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked directly with the owner to produce a business logo which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
