POINTERS ON IDENTIFYING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design firm presents a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they simply cannot refund the amount of time you commit which is eminently more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but in the end a design firm can only be evaluated from the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t feature actual examples odds are they won’t be able to produce a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s goal is to reflect your personal vision for your company. If a designer isn’t focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they can get paid.

Lakewood LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping business owners develop memorable brands. We’ve undertaken brand design work for ranchers, colleges, diamond miners, wedding singers, bistros, retail stores, and practically every other kind of business you can think of. What makes us unique compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every logo design project as if it will be employed as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first technique our identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from fashion labels to neon signs. Our sign first approach guarantees that our logo designs are just as successful whether they are used in TV commercials or website applications, they are consistently recognizable, understood, and always remembered no matter of size or use.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that seriously sets ImageCo apart from other design companies that you may have encountered in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are contracted to do, we do in-house. Regardless of the type of design project we accept, business logo, website design, trade show display, or electric sign, we do not, and never will contract out our client’s work to agencies based outside the USA. When you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that marks up the price of your project and imposes the conditions of how we conduct business.

ASPECTS OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new Lakewood business realizes that they need a logo, but few start-ups fully comprehend the key role their business logo will play in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo performs far better than another. A logo design has a critical and long-term impact on the success of a company, pick the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of an organization. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Lakewood businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require contemplation, they can be comprehended in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from label to retail signs a scalable logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo should be enduring and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s both a verb and a noun, it is an identifying mark and also the process of denoting something to ensure that it could be identified, its foundation comes from the mark burned onto animals. Nowadays a brand represents practically anything with a motive, regardless if it be revenue or politics, a brand is an innate aspect of specifying the worth of a specific thing in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s sexy sister, they are both from the same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest directed at a specific audience, it’s objective is to develop an image that the audience can connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When someone states the brand names Ferrari or Corvette what we think about is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals want those brands. Brand image is why people buy most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Firms – If you reflect on the history of most branding companies you’ll discover that they are often rebranded marketing and advertising agencies. When a person says they are in advertising and marketing many people will likely have an idea about what they do. Yet when someone states “I am in branding”… it just seems much more attractive, maybe it’s because many people do not fully understand what it means to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and maybe even sexy.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that explains the visual components of a product or agency that influence understandings. This primarily consists of the name, the logo design, the packaging, the colors used yet can additionally include audio, illumination, texture, signs, actually anything that can be seen, touched or heard become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a designer that concentrates on a type of visual design that helps shape the image of a business, a product or an institution. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, and also collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and also sales brochures. Some visual designers also design web sites and software interfaces. The important function of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and also a psychological tone with the objective of influencing actions, results and understandings.

select logos & signs

Retro logo design of a bike developed for a Lakewood coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually launching in an older part of the area and really wanted to visualize an old-fashioned feel without appearing as boring or low energy. I accomplished both jobs via creating a symbol design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria designed for Lakewood medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that researches the causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare which works with the clinical assessment of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the only instance I recollect in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents very literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more captivating, more interest grabbing and a lot more meaningful.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog designed for a family members enjoyable facility in Lakewood.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental practices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a better lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and a tree - designed for Lakewood travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but instead convey emotional journeys by means of the photos they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they often convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with just words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Lakewood logo but also to show the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Lakewood logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design projects that I take on I honestly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A however my client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man truly hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his scorn for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t actually know so as to get objective viewpoints on the benefit of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really liked the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Business logos are a weird creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo realize how vital a logo design is for their company so they are way more vested in the outcome. Every logo project has it’s share of difficulties, but the largest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, layout for Lakewood book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin parcel of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most important part of a published book given that it is often the initial thing a person sees in the book store. With respect to a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will likely ever get to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go however it looks like that in many cases 1 of the items individuals usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller new venture commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a feeling of air travel and it was undoubtedly a success.

Lakewood logo style used for advertising and marketing and a tag layout for Vintage Instance features an old-fashioned font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this brand design I tried to come up with a logo that offered a fluid vintage feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from another generation.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Lakewood, design consist of an arc with lines converging via it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects due to the fact that it appears that every dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I actually love doing dental logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 characters startled in elevation to stand for a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to illustrate precisely how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo style developed for a Lakewood hair design workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo which carried a feeling of relaxation and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a design that did not go the obvious path of crafting just a stylized orchid but instead created a company logo which suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is usually the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the importance on the perception that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian steed logo design created for a steed ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a unique company logo design tailored to embody the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of equines. By having a distinctive head shape and high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the most easily recognizable horse breeds in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Lakewood Coffee shop logo design a little restaurant, style consists of a customized script typeface which floats above a team of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a tiny dining establishment, design includes a customized script font style which floats above a group of ornate lines as well as dots.

Logo design for a software application developer the layout functions and renowned Lakewood element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and disk managing. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge in between the software and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it represented something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the meaning supporting a logo is equally as important as how it serves the company it stands for.

Advance logo style produced for a Lakewoodindoor developer, design function a series of red circles that converge as well as change the letter O in the middle of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Lakewood interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who arranges, investigates, coordinates, and manages such projects. Interior design is a diverse occupation that involves conceptual development, area planning, location assessments, programming, research study, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo design provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Lakewood, the personalities for letter V and A in center of the word advanced have been modified to connect straight right into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Lakewood logo design project was performed for a leadership guide that aids business leaders to become more successful at overseeing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Lakewood business logo style including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly knew the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a spot to market their previously owned products to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Lakewood logo design design using an illustration which garners the attention of traffic and projects an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this Lakewood company logo layout has an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo design wasn’t actually designed for an Lakewood area farm it was actually designed for an investments broker, and this trademark was one of several which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to develop an identity that projects confidence, success, and wealth.

Lakewood Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo style function for outwardly encountering arrow as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the opportunity to explore any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye without realizing where the target is. Luckily, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo created for using an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is reminiscent of a renowned Lakewood sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project where I worked closely with the owner to create a logo that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
