Thornton Logo Design

Nearly every new Thornton organization realizes that they are in need of a logo, however few entrepreneurs thoroughly recognize the pivotal role their logo design can perform in their success, or precisely why one logo works more effectively than another. A company logo has a critical and sustaining effect on the prosperity of a company, select the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, select the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the life of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Thornton companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require consideration, they can be realized in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will stay legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bike created for a Thornton coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening in an older part of the town and wished to visualize a retro vibe without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both of these jobs via developing a custom logo design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide as well as bacteria made for Thornton medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the causes and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which works with the laboratory examination of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the sole instance I remember in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Normally I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, yet it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more captivating, more attention grabbing and more memorable.

logo layout with a leaping eco-friendly frog designed for a household fun center in Thornton.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to integrate a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo including a group of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Thornton travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather reveal emotional experiences by means of the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with just words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Thornton logo but also to illustrate the depth to her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Thornton logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design projects that I take on I really take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however my customer, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man really disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family didn’t share his aversion for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge all of them to discuss it with friends and family as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased point of views on the worthiness of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their business logo realize how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are way more vested in the outcome. Every logo project has it’s allotment of challenges, but the greatest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Thornton book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped parcel of real estate to work with, but it is the most crucial part of a published book given that it is in most cases the primary thing a person sees in the book store. Concerning a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it seems like that in many occurrences one of the traits individuals tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small start-up commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a sense of flight and it was certainly a victory.

Thornton logo layout utilized for marketing and also a tag style for Vintage Instance includes an old font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for music instruments, that looked to be much older cases. For this brand concept I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be utilized for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from another generation.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Thornton, design include an arc with lines intersecting with it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging logo design jobs because it seems that each and every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I actually love doing dentistry business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a household not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 characters staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to illustrate exactly how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that describes itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo style developed for a hair design workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo that carried a sense of peace and connection for their new hair salon. I created a design which didn’t go the obvious route of making merely a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a logo that implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl blended into the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the concept using the figure of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is more often than not the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the focus on the feeling that they wanted to transmit to their customers.

Logo layout for a software designer the layout functions as well as renowned element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and drive operations. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it meant something to the owner of the business and in many cases the meaning supporting a logo is just as important as how it serves the enterprise it represents.

A logo layout including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly recognized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a location to market their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Thornton logo dsign utilizing an image which garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo style has an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t really designed for an Thornton regional farm it was really created for a products broker, and this particular logo was one of a handful of which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to create a image that projects esteem, effectiveness, and luxury.
Logo design designed for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript typeface that is similar to a renowned sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created loads of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked directly with the proprietor to develop a logo which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
