Darien, Connecticut Logo Design

Nearly every new Darien business person understands that they require a logo, yet few new business owners entirely understand the pivotal role their company logo can perform in their financial success, or why one logo functions more effectively than another. A company logo has an immediate and lasting effect on the viability of a business, pick the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life span of an organization.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Darien, Connecticut businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand deliberation, they can be understood in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo will be legible and equally emotive at every scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be enduring and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.
Retro logo style of a bicycle produced for a Darien, Connecticut coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and bistro were opening up in an older section of the town and wished to project a retro vibe without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished both of these tasks through designing a custom logo design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is an enduring business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and germs designed for Darien, Connecticut medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that researches the root causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of medicine which works with the laboratory evaluation of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I recollect where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Usually I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, yet it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and a lot more memorable.

logo layout with a leaping green frog developed for a family enjoyable facility in Darien, Connecticut.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental experts, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more enthusiastic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and a tree - designed for Darien, Connecticut traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but instead reveal emotional experiences through the pictures they capture. The idea behind this logo concept was to use negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they oftentimes convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with just words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Darien logo design but also to illustrate the depth of her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Darien logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design projects that I take on I truly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but my client, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy seriously disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his contempt for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage them to talk about it with colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get honest assessments on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family and they adored the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Business logos are a weird creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their business logo comprehend how vital a logo is for their company so they are way more vested in the final result. Every logo design job has it’s share of hurdles, but the biggest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Darien, Connecticut publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin slice of real estate to work with, but it really is the most necessary part of a printed book due to the fact that it is often the first thing a person sees in the book store. Concerning a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity they will ever have to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go yet it seems that in many occurrences 1 of the items folks often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small fledgling commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a feeling of flight and it was undoubtedly a winner.

Darien logo layout used for advertising and a tag style for Vintage Case features an antiquated font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, that appeared to be much older cases. For this custom logo design I strove to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be used for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Darien, Connecticut, design consist of an arc with lines converging through it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can be one of the most challenging logo design jobs because it seems that every single dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I actually love doing dental care logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a household not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities staggered in height to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the people in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to describe how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo design produced for a hair style workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo that carried a sense of calmness and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a design which did not go the obvious direction of designing just a stylized orchid but alternatively designed a business logo that suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the logo design using the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is frequently the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately put the focus on the feeling that they wanted to transmit to their clients.

Logo layout for a software designer the style attributes and famous element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive management. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it meant something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the meaning supporting a logo is just as important as how it brands the business it represents.

A logo style featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a location to sell off their secondhand equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Darien business logo dsign using an image which garners the interest of vehicles and projects an image that wakens the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo style has an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo design wasn’t actually developed for an Darien, Connecticut area farm it was actually created for an investments broker, and this particular business logo was one of a handful of which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to generate a image that projected self-assurance, success, and opulence.

Darien Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo style function for ostensibly facing arrowhead as well as the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design that they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the freedom to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without understanding where the target is. Luckily, in this particular case, I struck a bullseye with the very first shot.

Logo design designed for making use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font style that is similar to a famous sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted dozens of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked closely with the owner to develop a logo that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
