POINTERS FOR FINDING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design agency offers a money back guarantee try to remember that they can’t reimburse the time you invest which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but in the end a design firm can only be evaluated by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio does not feature real life samples chances are they won’t be able to produce a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be understood and be unforgettable, and it’s objective is to echo your personal vision for your organization. If a logo designer is not focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how quickly they will get paid.

East Haven LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping small business owners cultivate unforgettable brand identities. We’ve performed branding work for mechanics, educational institutions, heart surgeons, wedding singers, cafes, retailers, and practically every other kind of business you can think of. What makes us different compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every brand identity project as if it will be employed as an electric sign. Because of our sign first technique our designs can, and have been employed in everything from clothing labels to electrical signs. Our sign first method ensures that our logo designs are just as reliable whether they are used in television commercials or web apps, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and always remembered no matter of scale or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which seriously sets ImageCo apart from other design firms that you may have stumbled upon in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are enlisted to do, we do in-house. Irrespective of the type of project we accept, logo design, website, trade show exhibition, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will job-out our customer’s projects to companies based outside the United States. When you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that marks up the cost of your design project and dictates the conditions of how we do business.

ASPECTS OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new East Haven company understands that they require a logo, however few start ups fully recognize the pivotal role their logo can make in their success, or precisely why one logo works better than another. A company logo has a critical and sustaining impact on the prosperity of a company, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help East Haven companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require scrutiny, they can be grasped in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to retail signs a scalable logo design will remain legible and just as emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the item or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be timeless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s both a verb as well as a noun, it is an identifying mark and the process of noting something so that it could be identified, its origin comes from the mark branded onto livestock. These days a brand indicates virtually anything with an intention, regardless of whether it be revenue or government agencies, a brand is an inherent aspect of specifying the value of something in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s sexy sister, they are each from the exact same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest aimed at a specific audience, it’s objective is to develop an image that the target market will likely identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing and identity design. When somebody states the brand names Lamborghini or Corvette what we think of is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people purchase those products. Brand image is why people get specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Firms – If you look back at the origin of a lot of branding agencies you’ll find that they are often rebranded advertising companies. When somebody states they are in advertising the majority of people will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or heard are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that concentrates on a type of visual design which helps shape the perception of a firm, a product or a business organization. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, sign designs, packaging, and collateral products such as cards, stationery, and also pamphlets. Some identity designers also develop websites and user interfaces. The important duty of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the goal of influencing actions, results and also understandings.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a East Haven coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee shop were opening in an old section of the town and hoped to cast a nostalgic tone without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I achieved both tasks by developing a logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide and germs developed for East Haven clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which examines the triggers and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare which deals with the clinical assessment of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind in which I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Usually I try not to be overly literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents very literally, however it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more captivating, more focus grabbing and more meaningful.

logo design with a leaping environment-friendly frog developed for a household enjoyable center in East Haven.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental practices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to integrate a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better dynamic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - made for East Haven travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but rather convey emotional journeys by means of the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo concept was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they often convey whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be communicated with just words. I made an effort to do something very similar to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  East Haven logo but also to show the depth of her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

East Haven logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design projects that I take on I really savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members didn’t share his contempt for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage them to talk about it with friends and family as well as with people that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial assessments on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they adored the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to create their logo understand how important a logo is for their company so they are much more vested in the end result. Every logo design project has it’s share of obstacles, but the most significant challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for East Haven book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, but it is the most critical part of a printed book because it is in most cases the initial thing a person sees in the book store. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity that they will ever get to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart nevertheless it seems like that in many occurrences one of the items consumers usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young fledgling commuter/shuttle airline situated in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a spirit of air travel and it was surely a victory.

East Haven logo style made use of for advertising and marketing as well as a tag style for Vintage Instance includes an old font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be older cases. For this logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different era.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in East Haven, design consist of an arc with lines converging via it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo jobs because it appears that every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the very same way dental offices do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I actually love doing dental care logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 characters surprised in height to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to explain precisely how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that explains itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout created for a East Haven hair design studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo which carried a feeling of tranquility and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious course of designing merely a stylized orchid but instead created a company logo which suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design using the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is generally the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the main focus on the emotion that they wanted to project to their patrons.

Arabian horse logo layout created for a steed cattle ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian show equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a distinct company logo concept fashioned to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of equines. By having a different head form and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most quite easily recognizable equine types in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A East Haven restaurant logo layout a small restaurant, layout consists of a modified script font style which floats above a group of ornate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo layout a little dining establishment, design consists of a modified script font which hovers over a group of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo design for a software developer the layout features and also iconic East Haven aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and drive managing. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge between the software and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the symbolism behind a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it stands for.

Evolve logo layout developed for a East Haveninterior designer, design function a collection of red circles that converge and change the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a East Haven interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is somebody who organizes, explores, collaborates, and oversees such projects. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that involves conceptual development, area planning, site examinations, programming, study, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo design done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in East Haven, the personalities for letter V as well as A in center of the word advanced have been modified to link straight right into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular East Haven logo design assignment was performed for a management advisor that enables business professionals to become more effective at handling people, expectations, and profitability.

A East Haven business logo layout featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly knew the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a location to sell their secondhand products to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their East Haven logo design along with an illustration which garners the interest of traffic and projects an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo style MQ farms, this East Haven company logo style has an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t really designed for an East Haven area farm it was actually designed for a products broker, and this logo design was one of many that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to produce an identity that projected esteem, financial success, and wealth.

East Haven Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for outwardly encountering arrowhead and the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design that they desired, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the liberty to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this instance, I struck a bullseye with the first go.

Logo made for the use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is evocative a well-known East Haven sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked closely with the owner to develop a logo design which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
