Guilford Logo Design

Nearly every new Guilford company realizes that they are in need of a logo, but few new business owners entirely realize the essential role their company logo will play in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo works more effectively than another. A logo has an immediate and sustaining effect on the growth of a company, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the life span of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Guilford businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require consideration, they can be grasped in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable business logo will remain legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be enduring and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

Retro logo design of a bike created for a Guilford coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee bar were opening up in an older part of the area and wanted to visualize a vintage feel without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled the two jobs by developing a trademark concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide as well as bacteria developed for Guilford medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that studies the triggers and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which works with the clinical examination of specimens of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recall in which I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Generally I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more appealing, more interest grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo style with a leaping eco-friendly frog created for a family enjoyable center in Guilford.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to integrate a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and also a tree - designed for Guilford travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but instead communicate emotional journeys by means of the photos they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they oftentimes share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Guilford logo but also to show the depth in her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Guilford logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design jobs that I take on I seriously relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members didn’t share his contempt for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge them to share it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get honest viewpoints on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to create their business logo realize how vital a logo design is for their business so they are much more invested in the result. Every logo job possesses it’s allotment of obstacles, however the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Guilford book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow segment of real estate to work with, but it really is the most vital part of a printed book due to the fact that it is often the initial thing a person sees in the book shop. Concerning a publisher, it’s the best opportunity that they will ever have to promote their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it seems like that in many instances one of the aspects people tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest start-up commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a feeling of flight and it was surely a victory.

Guilford logo style made use of for advertising and marketing and a label style for Vintage Case features an antiquated typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be antique cases. For this business logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid retro feel to it and could be used for everything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different generation.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Guilford, style include an arc with lines intersecting through it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects because it seems that every single dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I actually love doing dental care logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 personalities startled in height to stand for a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to summarize how people should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that illustrates itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo layout produced for a hair design workshop including a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a company logo which communicated a feeling of peace and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept that didn’t go the obvious path of creating merely a stylized orchid but rather designed a company logo which implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is usually the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the importance on the perception that they wanted to transmit to their customers.

Logo layout for a software designer the layout functions as well as iconic element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and hard drive managing. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a bridge in between the software and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism behind a company logo is just as important as how it serves the organization it stands for.

Evolve logo layout developed for a Guilford interior developer, style function a series of red circles that intersect and replace the letter O in the middle of the logo design.

A logo design including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a spot to sell their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Guilford logo design dsign using an image that garners the attention of traffic and sends an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo design has an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem concept wasn’t really composed for an Guilford area farm it was really created for a commodities broker, and this particular creative logo was one of a handful of which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to generate an identity that projected esteem, effectiveness, and luxury.
Logo created for making use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is reminiscent of a popular sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked directly with the proprietor to produce a business logo that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
