Hamden, Connecticut Logo Design

Nearly every new Hamden business professional realizes that they need a logo, yet few new business owners entirely realize the crucial role their logo design will take in their success, or precisely why one business logo works more effectively than another. A company logo has an immediate and long-term impact on the financial success of a business, go with the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of an organization.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Hamden, Connecticut businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require deliberation, they can be grasped in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will stay legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be ageless and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.
Retro logo design of a bike produced for a Hamden, Connecticut coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and cafe were actually opening in an old part of the community and wished to cast a retro atmosphere without coming across as boring or low energy. I fulfilled each of the tasks by means of developing a custom logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and also bacteria designed for Hamden, Connecticut medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which examines the causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which deals with the laboratory examination of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recollect where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents very literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more captivating, more interest grabbing and more meaningful.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog designed for a household fun center in Hamden, Connecticut.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental experts, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the company features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Hamden, Connecticut traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but rather reveal emotional experiences by means of the images they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of good photographers in that they oftentimes share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with just words. I tried to do something comparable to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Hamden logo but also to reveal the depth to her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Hamden logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design projects that I take on I really relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but the client, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family did not share his scorn for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get neutral opinions on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family and they really loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to design their business logo realize how important a logo is for their company so they are way more invested in the outcome. Every logo project has it’s portion of challenges, however the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, design for Hamden, Connecticut publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, yet it is the most critical part of a printed book given that it is ordinarily the first thing a person sees in the book shop. Regarding a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will likely ever get to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart but it looks like that in many cases one of the traits consumers tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle airline situated in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a sense of air travel and it was undoubtedly a victory.

Hamden logo style used for marketing and also a tag design for Vintage Situation includes an old-fashioned typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, which looked to be older cases. For this brand concept I strove to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a web page to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from another generation.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Hamden, Connecticut, style include an arc with lines converging via it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can be one of the most challenging logo design jobs because it seems that every single dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I actually love doing dentist logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a household not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 personalities startled in elevation to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to illustrate exactly how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout created for a hair style workshop including a script font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo design that conveyed a spirit of tranquility and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a concept that didn’t go the obvious direction of crafting simply a stylized orchid but instead designed a business logo that implied a flower in the formation of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is usually the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately laid the attention on the emotion that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Logo design for a software developer the style functions as well as famous aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and disk operations. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a logo design is just as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

A logo layout including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly knew the market was primed for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a spot to market their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Hamden logo design dsign using an illustration that garners the attention of traffic and sends an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo layout has actually a field included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem idea wasn’t really developed for an Hamden, Connecticut area farm it was actually devised for an investments broker, and this brand was one of a handful of that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to produce a graphic that projects self-assurance, effectiveness, and affluence.

Hamden Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo design function for ostensibly facing arrowhead and the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design that they desired, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the freedom to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without understanding where the target is. Fortunately, in this particular instance, I nailed a bullseye with the first go.

Logo created for using an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font style that is evocative a popular sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the proprietor to produce a business logo which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
