TIPS FOR CHOOSING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design company offers a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they simply cannot refund the amount of time you commit which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many design firms talk a good game but in the end a designer can only be judged from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t feature actual examples chances are they won’t be able to produce a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s purpose is to reflect your unique vision for your company. If a designer is not focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how quickly they will get paid.

New Britain LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping business owners cultivate unforgettable brands. We’ve done branding work for ranchers, universities, diamond miners, party planners, coffee shops, retailers, and practically every other kind of business you can envision. What makes us unique compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every branding project as though it will be used as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first method our identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from fashion labels to electrical signs. Our sign first method guarantees that our logo designs are equally successful whether they are used in TV commercials or website apps, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and remembered regardless of scale or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that truly sets ImageCo apart from other design firms that you might have stumbled upon in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are contracted to perform, we do in-house. No matter the kind of design project we take on, brand identity design, business website, trade show banners, or electric sign, we do not, and never will farm out our client’s projects to companies based outside the United States. When you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that increases the cost of your project and imposes the terms of how we conduct business.

QUALITIES OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Every new New Britain organization realizes that they probably need a logo, yet few start-ups fully realize the pivotal role their logo design can play in their financial success, or exactly why one logo design performs far better than another. A company logo has an immediate and long-term influence on the growth of a company, choose the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the life span of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help New Britain businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t need scrutiny, they can be grasped in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to retail signs a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be enduring and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the process of noting something to make sure that it can be recognized, its genesis comes from the mark burned onto animals. Today a brand symbolizes virtually anything with an intention, whether it be earnings or political parties, a brand is an innate aspect of defining the value of something in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s sexy sister, they are both from the same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest directed at a specific audience, it’s objective is to produce a mental image that the target market can connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing and also identity design. When a person states the brand names Lamborghini or Mustang what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals want those products. Brand image is why people purchase specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Agencies – If you look back at the origin of a lot of branding agencies you’ll discover that they are frequently re-branded marketing companies. When someone says they are in advertising and marketing most people will likely have an idea about what they do. But when someone states “I’m in branding”… it just seems much more impressive, perhaps it’s since the majority of people do not fully understand what it implies to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and even attractive.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that explains the visual components of a product or company that influence perceptions. This primarily includes the name, the logo, the packaging, the different colors used however can additionally consist of audio, lights, texture, signage, actually anything that can be seen, felt or listened to are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that focuses on a type of visual design that helps shape the perception of a business, a product or an organization. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, and also collateral products such as business cards, stationery, and brochures. Some visual designers also design websites as well as software interfaces. The necessary function of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues and a psychological tone with the objective of influencing activities, results and also perceptions.

select signs/logos

Retro logo style of a bike created for a New Britain coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening in an older section of the community and hoped to visualize a nostalgic atmosphere without appearing as boring or low energy. I fulfilled both tasks by means of creating a company logo concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide and bacteria created for New Britain clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of medicine which works with the clinical examination of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the sole instance I call to mind where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Usually I try not to be overly literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, yet it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more appealing, more interest grabbing and much more memorable.

logo style with a leaping environment-friendly frog developed for a family fun center in New Britain.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental practices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design including a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and a tree - developed for New Britain travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession because travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but instead project emotional experiences by means of the images they record. The thought behind this logo composition was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of good photographers in that they oftentimes convey whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with just words. I tried to do something the same to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  New Britain logo design but also to show the depth to her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

New Britain logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design jobs that I take on I honestly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but the client, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man seriously loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his aversion for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced point of views on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logos are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo design recognize how crucial a logo design is for their organization so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo design project possesses it’s allotment of difficulties, however the most significant challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for New Britain publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most vital part of a published book because it is in most cases the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. Concerning a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity they will likely ever have to publicize their product and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it seems like that in many instances one of the things individuals tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest new venture commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a sense of flight and it was definitely a winner.

New Britain logo design used for marketing and a tag layout for Vintage Case features an archaic typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this logo design I attempted to come up with a logo that offered a fluid vintage feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different point in time.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in New Britain, layout include an arc with lines intersecting with it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs because it seems that virtually every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dentists do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really enjoy doing dentistry logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a household not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 characters staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to illustrate exactly how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo layout created for a New Britain hair design workshop including a script font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo design which communicated a feeling of peace and class for their new hair studio. I came up with a design that didn’t go the obvious course of designing just a stylized orchid but instead delivered a logo design which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is oftentimes the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately put the main focus on the emotion that they really wanted to forecast to their clients.

Arabian horse logo design developed for a horse cattle ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a unique custom logo concept fashioned to manifest the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of horses. By having an identifiable head form and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most easily identifiable equine types in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A New Britain Coffee shop logo design a little dining establishment, design consists of a modified manuscript typeface which floats above a group of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo design a tiny restaurant, layout contains a customized manuscript font which hovers over a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo layout for a software developer the design features and also iconic New Britain component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk management. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it intimated something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the symbolism supporting a logo is equally as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

Advance logo layout created for a New Britainindoor developer, design attribute a collection of red circles that intersect and also change the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a New Britain interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is somebody who arranges, researches, coordinates, and manages such projects. Interior design is a diverse occupation that includes conceptual development, area planning, location assessments, programming, investigation, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo design done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in New Britain, the characters for letter V and A in middle of the word advanced have actually been modified to tie straight into words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This New Britain logo design project was done for a management advisor that assists business leaders to become more successful at managing people, expectations, and profitability.

A New Britain business logo design featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly understood the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a place to sell their pre-owned products to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their New Britain business logo design along with a graphic which garners the attention of traffic and projects an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo design MQ ranches, this New Britain company logo style has a field incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo idea wasn’t really produced for an New Britain regional farm it was really designed for a commodities broker, and this particular logo design was one of a handful of which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was really to develop a graphic that projected esteem, effectiveness, and affluence.

New Britain Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo layout function for outwardly dealing with arrow and the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design that they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the liberty to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without knowing where the target is. Luckily, in this particular instance, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st shot.

Logo designed for making use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font that is reminiscent of a renowned New Britain sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed loads of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked closely with the business owner to create a business logo which worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
