New Britain, Connecticut Logo Design

Nearly every new New Britain company knows they require a logo, yet few new business owners fully comprehend the crucial role their business logo will make in their becoming successful, or why one business logo functions far better than another. A logo has an immediate and long term influence on the viability of a company, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the life of an organization.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help New Britain, Connecticut companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require deliberation, they can be comprehended in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable business logo will be legible and equally emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be ageless and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.
Retro logo design of a bicycle created for a New Britain, Connecticut coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and bistro were actually opening in an older section of town and wanted to project a vintage feel without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I achieved each of the jobs by creating a custom logo design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide and also germs developed for New Britain, Connecticut clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that studies the causes and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare that works with the clinical examination of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the only instance I remember where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Normally I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more appealing, more focus grabbing and even more memorable.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog created for a household fun center in New Britain, Connecticut.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dentists, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a better lively high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and a tree - made for New Britain, Connecticut travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but instead convey emotional experiences by means of the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they oftentimes tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with just words. I tried to do something the same to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  New Britain logo design but also to show the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

New Britain logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design projects that I take on I honestly savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however my customer, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members did not share his contempt for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get impartial opinions on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they adored the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to create their logo design recognize how important a logo is for their company so they are much more invested in the result. Every logo design job possesses it’s allotment of obstacles, but the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for New Britain, Connecticut publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, however it really is the most vital part of a printed book considering that it is in most cases the initial thing a person sees in the bookstore. Concerning a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will likely ever have to publicize their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it seems that in many instances 1 of the aspects individuals tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle airline situated in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a good sense of airline flight and it was definitely a success.

New Britain logo design made use of for advertising and a tag layout for Vintage Situation features an archaic typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for musical instruments, which seemed to be vintage cases. For this business logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a website to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different point in time.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in New Britain, Connecticut, style consist of an arc with lines converging with it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo projects because it appears that almost every dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental professionals do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really enjoy doing dentistry business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a household not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 characters surprised in elevation to stand for a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to explain precisely how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo style developed for a hair layout studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo which projected a sense of serenity and connection for their new hair studio. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious course of making simply a stylized orchid but instead crafted a logo design that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is oftentimes the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately laid the main focus on the feeling that they really wanted to project to their patrons.

Logo design for a software application developer the design attributes and also legendary aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and drive managing. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge in between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it symbolized something to the owner of the company and in many cases the substance supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the enterprise it stands for.

A logo layout including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly knew the market was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a place to market their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their New Britain logo design dsign utilizing an image that seizes the interest of vehicles and projects an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo style has an area integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

New Britain Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo design function for externally facing arrowhead as well as the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the opportunity to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye without realizing where the target is. Fortunately, in this instance, I struck a bullseye with the very first try.

Logo design made for making use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font that is reminiscent of a renowned sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked directly with the owner to produce a business logo which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
