TIPS FOR PICKING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design agency offers a money back guarantee try to remember that they simply cannot reimburse the time you invest which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but ultimately a designer can only be determined by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t feature real world samples chances are they won’t be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s objective is to echo your unique vision for your company. If a logo designer is not focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they can get paid.

New Canaan LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping small business owners grow memorable brands. We have done logo design work for mechanics, colleges, diamond miners, wedding singers, diners, retailers, and practically every other kind of business you can think of. What makes ImageCo unique compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every branding project as if it will be employed as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first method our designs can, and have been used in everything from clothing labels to billboards. Our sign first technique ensures that our logos are just as effective whether they are used in television commercials or web apps, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and always remembered regardless of size or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference that really sets ImageCo apart from other design agencies that you might have encountered on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are hired to perform, we do in-house. No matter the kind of design project we take on, logo design, website, trade show banners, or retail sign, we do not, and never will contract out our client’s work to organizations located outside the US. Whenever you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that marks up the price of your project and dictates the conditions of how we conduct business.

ASPECTS OF A GREAT LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new New Canaan organization understands that they require a logo, but few start ups fully recognize the crucial role their logo can play in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo functions more effectively than another. A company logo has an immediate and long term impact on the prosperity of a company, choose the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help New Canaan businesses succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t need consideration, they can be grasped in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from label to store signs a scalable business logo will stay legible and equally emotive at every scale.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the product or business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be ageless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the process of denoting something to ensure that it could be identified, its foundation originates from the mark burned onto animals. These days a brand indicates practically anything with a motive, regardless if it be revenue or government agencies, a brand is an inherent aspect of defining the worth of something in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s sexy cousin, they are all from the very same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition targeted at a target audience, it’s goal is to create a mental image that the audience can identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing and identity design. When someone says the names Lamborghini or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, elegance, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals want those products. Brand image is why people identify with specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can relate to.

Branding Agencies – If you look back at the origin of most branding agencies you’ll find that they are quite often rebranded marketing firms. When a person claims they are in advertising and marketing most people will likely have a preconceived notion about what they do. Yet when a person claims “I am in branding”… it simply sounds much more attractive, maybe it’s due to the fact that lots of people don’t understand what it indicates to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and perhaps even attractive.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that explains the visual elements of a product or business that influence perceptions. This mainly includes the name, the logo design, the packaging, the different colors utilized but can also consist of audio, illumination, texture, signs, just about anything that can be seen, felt or heard belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that specializes in a type of visual design which helps form the perception of a business, a product or an institution. Brand identity designers create logo designs, signage designs, packaging, and also collateral material such as business cards, stationery, as well as sales brochures. Some identity designers also build web sites as well as software interfaces. The important function of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues and an emotional tone with the objective of influencing activities, results as well as understandings.

select logos & signs

Retro logo layout of a bicycle created for a New Canaan coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening up in an older part of the community and hoped to visualize a vintage feel without appearing as boring or low energy. I fulfilled both of these jobs by designing a company logo design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and germs developed for New Canaan clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that examines the causes and effects of diseases, especially the field of medicine which deals with the laboratory evaluation of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recall where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents very literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more captivating, more attention grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo style with a leaping eco-friendly frog designed for a family members enjoyable facility in New Canaan.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and a tree - developed for New Canaan travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche sector because travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather communicate emotional experiences by means of the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they oftentimes share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something very similar to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  New Canaan logo but also to illustrate the depth of her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

New Canaan logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design jobs that I take on I honestly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however the customer, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man really hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family didn’t share his contempt for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge all of them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get neutral assessments on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they really loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their logo design recognize how crucial a logo is for their company so they are much more invested in the final result. Every logo job possesses it’s portion of difficulties, however the biggest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for New Canaan publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow parcel of real estate to work with, but it is the most crucial part of a published book because it is usually the primary thing a person sees in the bookstore. With respect to a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will ever get to publicize their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart yet it looks like that in many instances one of the aspects consumers often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young fledgling commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a good sense of airline flight and it was undoubtedly a winner.

New Canaan logo style made use of for advertising and marketing as well as a label layout for Vintage Case features an archaic typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for musical instruments, which appeared to be antique cases. For this business logo design I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be utilized for anything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different point in time.

Logo created for an orthodontist in New Canaan, design include an arc with lines converging through it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can be one of the most challenging logo design projects because it appears that every single dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really enjoy doing dentistry logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family nonprofit, the logo features 4 personalities staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to illustrate precisely how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo layout created for a New Canaan hair style studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo design which carried a spirit of serenity and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept that didn’t go the obvious course of creating merely a stylized orchid but instead crafted a company logo that implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is frequently the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately put the focus on the perception that they wanted to project to their clients.

Arabian horse logo design produced for a horse cattle ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a distinct business logo concept customized to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of equines. With an unique head form and very high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most immediately recognizable equine types in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A New Canaan restaurant logo layout a tiny dining establishment, style consists of a changed manuscript typeface which floats over a team of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo style a tiny restaurant, style consists of a modified manuscript font style which hovers above a team of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Logo design for a software program designer the style functions and also famous New Canaan aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and hard drive managing. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection in between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

Develop logo style produced for a New Canaanindoor designer, style attribute a collection of red circles that intersect and also replace the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a New Canaan interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a person who prepares, researches, collaborates, and oversees such tasks. Interior design is a diverse occupation that includes conceptual development, space planning, location assessments, programming, investigation, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in New Canaan, the personalities for letter V and also A in center of the word progressed have been customized to link straight right into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This New Canaan logo design assignment was carried out for a leadership advisor that helps business professionals to become more efficient at handling people, expectations, and productivity.

A New Canaan business logo layout including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a location to sell their used items to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their New Canaan logo design using an image that garners the attention of traffic and projects an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo design MQ farms, this New Canaan company logo layout has a field incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t actually composed for an New Canaan area farm it was actually devised for an investments broker, and this particular company logo was one of a handful of which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to generate a brand mark that projected trust, financial success, and wealth.

New Canaan Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo layout attribute for outwardly facing arrow as well as the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the freedom to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without knowing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this particular instance, I hit a bullseye with the very first go.

Logo design made for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript typeface that is similar to a popular New Canaan sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted quite a lot of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked closely with the business owner to design a logo design that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
