POINTERS FOR CHOOSING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design company presents a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they can’t refund the time you invest which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but in the end a design agency can only be determined from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t contain real world examples chances are they will never be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s objective is to reflect your personal vision for your company. If a logo designer is not focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how quickly they will get paid.

North Haven LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping businesses of all kinds grow notable brand identities. We’ve done logo design work for builders, schools, heart surgeons, party planners, diners, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business you can think of. What makes ImageCo different compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every brand identity project as though it will be employed as an electric sign. Because of our sign first strategy our identity designs can, and have been used in everything from garment labels to neon signs. Our sign first method ensures that our logo designs are just as successful whether they are used in television commercials or web applications, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and always remembered irrespective of scale or function.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which seriously sets ImageCo apart from other design firms that you might possibly have found online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are enlisted to do, we do ourselves. No matter the kind of project we take on, business logo, business website, trade show banners, or electric sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our client’s work to companies based outside the US. When you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that increases the cost of your project and imposes the conditions of how you and I do business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A GREAT LOGO DESIGN

Every new North Haven business realizes that they need a logo, but few start ups thoroughly recognize the crucial role their organization’s logo can play in their financial success, or precisely why one business logo works better than another. A logo has a critical and long term impact on the viability of a business, select the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help North Haven businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not need contemplation, they can be comprehended in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to posters a scalable logo will be legible and equally emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or business they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be ageless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It is both a verb as well as a noun, it is an identifying mark and also the process of noting something to make sure that it can be identified, its foundation comes from the brand branded onto livestock. Nowadays a brand signifies pretty much anything with a motive, regardless if it be revenue or government agencies, a brand is an inherent aspect of defining the value of something in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s attractive cousin, they are each from the very same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest directed at a specific audience, it’s goal is to create an image that the target market can identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When a person mentions the names Ferrari or Mustang what we think about is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals want those brands. Brand image is why people purchase most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can relate to.

Branding Firms – If you reflect on the origin of a lot of branding firms you’ll find that they are often re-branded advertising firms. When someone says they are in advertising and marketing most people will likely have a preconceived notion about what they do. But when a person claims “I am in branding”… it simply seems more attractive, probably it’s due to the fact that most people do not understand what it indicates to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and attractive.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that explains the visual elements of a product or business that affect perceptions. This mainly includes the name, the logo, the packaging, the different colors used however can likewise include audio, lighting, texture, signs, just about anything that can be seen, felt or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that concentrates on a type of visual design that helps form the image of a firm, a product or an institution. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, and also collateral material such as cards, stationery, as well as brochures. Some identity designers also design sites as well as user interfaces. The important role of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and a psychological tone with the objective of influencing activities, outcomes and also assumptions.

select signs/logos

Retro logo style of a bike developed for a North Haven coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and bistro were launching in an old part of the community and really wanted to cast a vintage vibe without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I accomplished both of these jobs by developing a custom logo design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide and also germs developed for North Haven clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which examines the causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of healthcare which works with the clinical examination of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the sole instance I call to mind in which I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and more meaningful.

logo design with a leaping environment-friendly frog created for a family members fun facility in North Haven.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and also a tree - developed for North Haven traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but instead communicate emotional journeys through the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they frequently tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with just words. I attempted to do something very similar to this logo by using the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  North Haven logo but also to reveal the depth to her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

North Haven logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design jobs that I take on I truly relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but the client, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man really loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his aversion for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge them to discuss it with friends and family as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased assessments on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their logo design comprehend how crucial a logo is for their organization so they are much more vested in the outcome. Every logo design job has it’s portion of challenges, but the greatest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for North Haven book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender segment of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most necessary part of a printed book due to the fact that it is ordinarily the very first thing a person sees in the bookstore. With respect to a publisher, it’s the opportunity they will ever get to publicize their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars modified to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go but it seems like that in many occurrences one of the items individuals tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a feeling of air travel and it was surely a winner.

North Haven logo layout made use of for advertising and marketing as well as a tag layout for Vintage Instance features an antiquated typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for musical instruments, which seemed to be vintage cases. For this logo design I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be used for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in North Haven, layout include an arc with lines intersecting with it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can be one of the most challenging logo jobs because it appears that each and every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dental practices do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really love doing dentist logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a household not-for-profit, the logo features 4 characters startled in height to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to describe how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that describes itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo design created for a North Haven hair layout workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo design which carried an atmosphere of relaxation and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept that did not go the obvious route of designing simply a stylized orchid but instead designed a business logo which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl featured into the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is generally the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the emphasis on the perception that they wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian steed logo style developed for a steed cattle ranch that specializes in breeding Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted an original company logo concept customized to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of horses. By having an identifiable head form and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most immediately recognizable equine types in the world.

Las Cafe, A North Haven Coffee shop logo layout a tiny dining establishment, layout consists of a modified script typeface which hovers above a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a small restaurant, style includes a modified manuscript font which hovers over a team of ornate lines as well as dots.

Logo design for a software developer the layout features and also legendary North Haven component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and drive managing. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it intimated something to the owner of the business and in many cases the meaning behind a business logo is equally as important as how it brands the organization it represents.

Develop logo layout created for a North Havenindoor designer, layout attribute a series of red circles that converge and change the letter O in the middle of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a North Haven interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a person who prepares, investigates, collaborates, and manages such tasks. Interior design is a diverse occupation that includes conceptual development, area planning, location inspections, programming, analysis, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and implementation of the design.

logo style provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in North Haven, the characters for letter V as well as A in middle of words advanced have actually been changed to connect straight into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular North Haven logo design project was carried out for a leadership consultant that enables business professionals to become more effective at managing people, expectations, and productivity.

A North Haven business logo layout including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly recognized the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a location to sell their used products to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their North Haven business logo design with a graphic that grabs the interest of vehicles and sends an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.

Logo style MQ farms, this North Haven company logo design has an area integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand design wasn’t really created for an North Haven area farm it was actually devised for a products broker, and this business logo was one of many that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to produce a graphic that projected trust, success, and opulence.

North Haven Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo design attribute for outwardly dealing with arrow and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the freedom to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without understanding where the target is. Fortunately, in this case, I hit a bullseye with the 1st shot.

Logo design designed for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is reminiscent of a well-known North Haven sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created dozens of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project where I worked directly with the proprietor to produce a logo design which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
