Storrs Logo Design

Virtually every new Storrs business realizes that they require a logo, however few new business owners entirely are aware of the crucial role their organization logo can take in their becoming successful, or why one business logo functions far better than another. A logo design has an instant and long term effect on the prosperity of a company, choose the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Storrs companies prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require scrutiny, they can be understood in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will be legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be lasting and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.

Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Storrs coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and cafe were actually opening in an older part of the community and really wanted to cast an old-fashioned tone without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved the two tasks by means of designing a custom logo concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide as well as germs made for Storrs medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that researches the triggers and consequences of diseases, especially the field of medicine which works with the clinical assessment of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, yet it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more interesting, more interest grabbing and much more unforgettable.

logo design with a leaping eco-friendly frog created for a family enjoyable facility in Storrs.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo including a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Storrs travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but instead project emotional journeys by means of the images they capture. The idea behind this logo concept was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they often tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I tried to do something similar to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Storrs logo design but also to show the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Storrs logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design jobs that I take on I honestly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but my client, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his hatred for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to talk about it with colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get objective opinions on the value of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their business logo realize how essential a logo design is for their business so they are much more invested in the result. Every logo project possesses it’s portion of difficulties, but the most significant obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, design for Storrs publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender piece of real estate to work with, but it is the most critical part of a printed book since it is often the very first thing a person sees in the bookstore. Concerning a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will likely ever have to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it seems that in many cases one of the traits consumers usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small start-up commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a spirit of air travel and it was undoubtedly a victory.

Storrs logo layout made use of for advertising as well as a label style for Vintage Situation features an archaic font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand-new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be older cases. For this business logo design I sought to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different point in time.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Storrs, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs considering that it appears that each and every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business branding, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dental professionals do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really love doing dental care logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities staggered in height to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to summarize how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that describes itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo design developed for a hair layout studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a company logo that carried a spirit of relaxation and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept which didn’t go the obvious course of crafting just a stylized orchid but instead delivered a business logo that implied a flower in the formation of a swirl blended into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is in most cases the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately put the importance on the feeling that they wanted to project to their customers.

Logo layout for a software program programmer the layout functions as well as legendary component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive operations. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it meant something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the substance behind a company logo is just as important as how it serves the enterprise it represents.

A logo style featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly knew the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a spot to market their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Storrs business logo dsign with an image which garners the interest of vehicles and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo layout has an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo concept wasn’t really created for an Storrs area farm it was in reality designed for a products broker, and this company was one of several which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to generate a graphic that projects esteem, success, and wealth.
Logo made for using an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script typeface that is reminiscent of a popular sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed loads of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked closely with the proprietor to develop a logo that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
