STRATEGIES FOR CHOOSING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design company offers a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they simply cannot refund the time you invest which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but in the end a designer can only be determined by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio does not feature actual examples odds are they won’t be able to produce a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s objective is to echo your unique vision for your company. If a designer is not focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how soon they will get paid.

Trumbull LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping small business owners establish unforgettable brands. We’ve performed brand design work for mechanics, schools, diamond miners, wedding singers, bistros, retail stores, and virtually every other kind of business you can think of. What makes ImageCo different compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every brand identity project as though it will be used as an electric sign. Because of our sign first approach our identity designs can, and have been utilized in everything from clothing labels to electrical signs. Our sign first technique ensures that our logos are just as successful whether they are used in television commercials or web applications, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and always remembered regardless of scale or function.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that seriously sets ImageCo apart from other design agencies that you may have encountered in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are brought on board to perform, we do in-house. Regardless of the type of design project we take on, logo design, website, trade show display, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will farm out our client’s projects to companies based outside the US. Whenever you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that marks up the price of your design project and determines the conditions of how you and I conduct business.

ASPECTS OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Trumbull entrepreneur realizes that they require a logo, however few start ups entirely comprehend the crucial role their business logo will make in their becoming successful, or exactly why one logo functions far better than another. A logo has an instant and long-term effect on the prosperity of a business, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Trumbull businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require deliberation, they can be grasped in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from label to retail signs a scalable logo will stay legible and equally emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be enduring and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s a verb and also a noun, it’s an identifying mark as well as the process of noting something to make sure that it could be recognized, its genesis comes from the brand branded onto livestock. These days a brand signifies pretty much anything with an intention, regardless if it be revenue or politics, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the value of a specific thing in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s attractive cousin, they are each from the very same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition directed at a target market, it’s goal is to develop an image that the target market will likely identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing and identity design. When somebody says the names Porsche or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes people purchase those brands. Brand image is why people get most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Agencies – If you reflect on the beginning of many branding firms you’ll discover that they are quite often re-branded advertising and marketing companies. When somebody says they are in marketing many people will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that concentrates on a kind of visual design which helps form the public image of a company, a product or a business. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, signage designs, packaging, as well as collateral material such as business cards, stationery, as well as sales brochures. Some visual designers also design sites and user interfaces. The necessary duty of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues as well as a psychological tone with the objective of influencing actions, outcomes and understandings.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo design of a bike created for a Trumbull coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening in an older part of the community and really wanted to project a vintage feel without appearing as boring or low energy. I accomplished each of the tasks via developing a trademark design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and germs developed for Trumbull medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that studies the causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare which deals with the clinical evaluation of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the only instance I call to mind where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Normally I try not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents very literally, yet it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more interesting, more focus grabbing and more meaningful.

logo style with a leaping green frog created for a family members fun facility in Trumbull.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo including a flock of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and a tree - designed for Trumbull travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but rather convey emotional journeys through the photos they capture. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of almost all good photographers in that they frequently tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with just words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Trumbull logo but also to show the depth of her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Trumbull logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however my customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man seriously disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family did not share his contempt for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to discuss it with colleagues and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial viewpoints on the value of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they really loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to create their logo recognize how vital a logo is for their company so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo design job possesses it’s allotment of challenges, but the largest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, layout for Trumbull book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin slice of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most critical part of a published book given that it is often the very first thing a person views in the bookstore. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity that they will likely ever have to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart but it seems that in many occurrences 1 of the traits folks usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest fledgling commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a spirit of airline flight and it was surely a success.

Trumbull logo style utilized for advertising and marketing and a label design for Vintage Instance includes an old font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this custom logo design I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Trumbull, style consist of an arc with lines converging through it to indicate metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can be one of the most difficult logo design jobs due to the fact that it seems that almost every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really love doing dentist business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 personalities startled in height to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to summarize exactly how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that explains itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo design created for a Trumbull hair style workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a company logo that conveyed a feeling of tranquility and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept which did not go the obvious route of making merely a stylized orchid but rather created a logo that implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl blended into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is in most cases the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately laid the attention on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo design produced for a horse ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian show equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed an original business logo concept customized to epitomize the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. With an unique head form and very high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most easily recognizable equine types in the world.

Las Cafe, A Trumbull restaurant logo layout a small dining establishment, layout consists of a modified script font style which floats over a group of elaborate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a little dining establishment, layout contains a modified script typeface which floats over a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo design for a software developer the style features and iconic Trumbull element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive operations. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the significance behind a logo design is just as important as how it serves the business it represents.

Advance logo style created for a Trumbullinterior designer, style attribute a series of red circles that converge and change the letter O in the center of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Trumbull interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who prepares, explores, coordinates, and manages such tasks. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that includes conceptual development, area planning, site inspections, programming, research study, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and execution of the design.

logo design provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Trumbull, the personalities for letter V and also A in center of the word advanced have been modified to link straight right into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Trumbull logo design project was carried out for a management expert that enables business professionals to become more efficient at handling people, expectations, and profitability.

A Trumbull business logo layout including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly understood the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a spot to market their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Trumbull business logo design utilizing an image which seizes the interest of traffic and projects an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo style MQ farms, this Trumbull company logo layout has an area integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo design wasn’t actually developed for an Trumbull area farm it was really developed for a commodities broker, and this business logo was one of many that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to make an identity that projects trust, success, and wealth.

Trumbull Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo style attribute for outwardly facing arrowhead and the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the freedom to explore any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without understanding where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this case, I struck a bullseye with the 1st shot.

Logo design made for the use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript typeface that is reminiscent of a well-known Trumbull sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked directly with the business owner to produce a business logo that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
