TIPS ON FINDING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design firm offers a money back guarantee try to remember that they can not reimburse the time you invest which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but inevitably a design firm can only be determined from the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio does not contain real life examples odds are they will never be able to produce a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be understood and be unforgettable, and it’s goal is to mirror your personal vision for your company. If a logo designer is not focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how quickly they will get paid.

Windsor LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs develop notable brand identities. We’ve undertaken brand design work for farmers, schools, heart surgeons, wedding singers, cafes, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business you can imagine. What makes us different compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every design as if it will be utilized as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first approach our designs can, and have been employed in everything from clothing labels to electrical signs. Our sign first method insures that our logo designs are just as successful whether they are used in television commercials or website headers, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and always remembered irrespective of size or application.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which really sets ImageCo apart from other design companies that you may have stumbled upon in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are brought on board to do, we do in-house. No matter the kind of project we accept, brand identity design, web page, trade show exhibition, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our customer’s projects to companies based outside the USA. When you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that increases the cost of your design project and dictates the terms of how you and I conduct business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Windsor entrepreneur knows they need a logo, however few start-ups thoroughly realize the essential role their organization’s logo can perform in their becoming successful, or the reason that one logo performs more effectively than another. A logo has a critical and long term impact on the success of a company, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of an organization. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Windsor companies succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t need deliberation, they can be understood in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will continue to be legible and just as emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be ageless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

understand your brand

Brand – It is a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the process of denoting something so that it could be distinguished, its origin comes from the mark burned onto livestock. These days a brand represents basically anything with a motive, regardless if it be profit or government agencies, a brand is an inherent aspect of defining the value of a specific thing in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s attractive cousin, they are each from the same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition directed at a target market, it’s objective is to develop an image that the audience will identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When a person states the brand names Porsche or Mustang what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people buy those products. Brand image is why people purchase most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Agencies – If you reflect on the history of many branding companies you’ll find that they are often rebranded advertising firms. When somebody says they are in advertising and marketing most individuals will likely have an idea about what they do. Yet when somebody states “I am in branding”… it just sounds more attractive, possibly it’s because the majority of people don’t know what it implies to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and kind of attractive.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that defines the visual components of a product or business that influence view points. This mainly includes the name, the logo, the packaging, the different colors utilized however can also include sound, lights, texture, signs, actually anything that can be seen, touched or heard belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that focuses on a type of visual design which helps shape the perception of a business, a product or a company. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, sign designs, packaging, as well as collateral products such as cards, stationery, as well as brochures. Some identity designers also develop web sites and user interfaces. The important role of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues and an emotional tone with the objective of affecting actions, outcomes and understandings.

Featured logos & signs

Retro logo design of a bike created for a Windsor coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually launching in an older section of town and really wanted to visualize a nostalgic feel without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished both of these jobs by creating a sign design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and bacteria developed for Windsor clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which analyzes the root causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of healthcare that deals with the laboratory assessment of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I remember where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Usually I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves quite literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo design with a leaping eco-friendly frog designed for a family members fun facility in Windsor.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental offices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to integrate a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design including a group of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and a tree - created for Windsor travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but rather project emotional experiences by means of the photos they record. The thought behind this logo design was to use negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of most good photographers in that they frequently share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with just words. I tried to do something similar to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Windsor logo design but also to show the depth to her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Windsor logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design jobs that I take on I truly savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but my client, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family did not share his scorn for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge all of them to share it with colleagues and family members as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get honest opinions on the value of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they adored the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logos are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their business logo comprehend how essential a logo design is for their business so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo design project possesses it’s portion of difficulties, but the greatest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Windsor publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, but it really is the most crucial part of a published book since it is ordinarily the primary thing a person views in the book store. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the opportunity they will likely ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart yet it seems that in many occurrences 1 of the items people tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small start-up commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a good sense of airline flight and it was surely a success.

Windsor logo design utilized for marketing and also a tag design for Vintage Case includes an old-fashioned typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, which appeared to be vintage cases. For this logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different generation.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Windsor, design include an arc with lines converging with it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can be one of the most challenging logo jobs due to the fact that it seems that every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business marketing, if dining establishments approached their branding in the same way dental professionals do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I actually love doing dentistry business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family members not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities startled in height to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to describe specifically how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that describes itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo design created for a Windsor hair style studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo design that conveyed a spirit of contentment and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious course of crafting merely a stylized orchid but instead designed a business logo that suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is oftentimes the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the main focus on the perception that they wanted to project to their customers.

Arabian equine logo layout created for a steed ranch that focuses on reproducing Arabian show steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted a distinct organization logo concept tailored to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. By having an unique head form and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most easily recognizable horse types in the world.

Las Cafe, A Windsor restaurant logo design a little dining establishment, style consists of a modified manuscript typeface which floats over a group of ornate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo design a little restaurant, style includes a modified script font which hovers over a group of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Logo style for a software application designer the design features as well as renowned Windsor aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive managing. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a bridge between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it meant something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the meaning supporting a logo design is just as important as how it serves the business it represents.

Develop logo style developed for a Windsorinterior designer, design attribute a series of red circles that converge and also change the letter O in the middle of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Windsor interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who organizes, investigates, collaborates, and oversees such projects. Interior design is a diverse occupation that consists of conceptual development, space planning, site evaluations, programming, research study, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Windsor, the characters for letter V and A in center of the word progressed have been changed to tie directly into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Windsor logo design assignment was undertaken for a leadership coach that helps business professionals to become more effective at overseeing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Windsor business logo layout featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly understood the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a place to sell off their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Windsor business logo design using an illustration which grabs the interest of vehicles and projects an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.

Logo layout MQ ranches, this Windsor company logo layout has actually a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo concept wasn’t actually developed for an Windsor area farm it was in reality created for a products broker, and this particular logo design was one of several that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to generate an identity that projected self-assurance, financial success, and affluence.

Windsor Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for ostensibly facing arrow as well as the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the freedom to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without realizing where the target is. Fortunately, in this case, I hit a bullseye with the very first shot.

Logo designed for the use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font style that is similar to a popular Windsor sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted loads of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked closely with the proprietor to design a logo that worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
