TIPS FOR FINDING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design company presents a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they simply cannot reimburse the time you invest which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but in the end a design firm can only be determined by the quality of their design work, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t contain actual samples chances are they will never be able to deliver a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be understood and remembered, and it’s purpose is to echo your unique vision for your organization. If a logo designer isn’t focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how fast they can get paid.

Cocoa LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping businesses of all kinds establish memorable brand identities. We have performed brand design work for mechanics, universities, heart surgeons, party planners, coffee roasters, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business concern you can think of. What makes us different compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every brand identity project as though it will be used as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first method our identity designs can, and have been used in everything from garment labels to neon signs. Our sign first method ensures that our logos are equally effective whether they are used in TV commercials or web headers, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and remembered regardless of scale or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

Something that really sets ImageCo apart from other design agencies that you might possibly have encountered in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are hired to perform, we do in-house. Regardless of the type of project we take on, logo, business website, trade show exhibit, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our customer’s work to 3rd parties located outside the United States. When you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that marks up the cost of your design project and dictates the terms of how we do business.

ASPECTS OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Every new Cocoa company knows they need a logo, yet few start ups entirely comprehend the essential role their business logo will play in their financial success, or the reason that one logo works far better than another. A logo has an instant and sustaining impact on the prosperity of a company, pick the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Cocoa companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require contemplation, they can be comprehended in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to store signs a scalable logo design will continue to be legible and just as emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the item or business they brand.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be lasting and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It is a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the act of noting something to ensure that it can be recognized, its foundation originates from the brand branded onto livestock. These days a brand symbolizes basically anything with an intention, regardless if it be profit or politics, a brand is an innate aspect of specifying the value of a specific thing in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s attractive cousin, they are each from the exact same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest directed at a target audience, it’s goal is to develop an image that the target market can connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing and identity design. When someone mentions the names Ferrari or Corvette what we think about is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, elegance, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals purchase those products. Brand image is why individuals purchase most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Agencies – If you look back at the history of most branding firms you’ll find that they are frequently re-branded advertising firms. When somebody states they are in advertising most individuals will likely have an idea about what they do. But when a person says “I am in branding”… it just seems more attractive, probably it’s because most people don’t fully understand what it indicates to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and attractive.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that describes the visual elements of a product or company that influence perceptions. This mainly consists of the name, the logo design, the packaging, the colors used yet can additionally consist of sound, illumination, texture, signage, just about anything that can be seen, touched or heard are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that specializes in a kind of visual design that helps shape the perception of a firm, a product or a company. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, signage designs, packaging, and also collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and also sales brochures. Some identity designers also design sites as well as user interfaces. The crucial function of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the objective of affecting actions, results and perceptions.

Featured SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo layout of a bike developed for a Cocoa coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee bar were opening up in an old section of the area and really wanted to project a nostalgic tone without coming across as boring or low energy. I fulfilled each of the tasks via creating a sign design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and also bacteria made for Cocoa clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that investigates the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare which works with the laboratory evaluation of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recall where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Typically I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves very literally, yet it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more appealing, more focus grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping eco-friendly frog designed for a family members fun facility in Cocoa.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Cocoa traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche field because travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather project emotional journeys through the images they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they oftentimes convey whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be communicated with just words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Cocoa logo design but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Cocoa logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however the client, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members did not share his hatred for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage all of them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get objective opinions on the worthiness of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Business logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their business logo recognize how vital a logo is for their company so they are way more invested in the result. Every logo design job possesses it’s portion of hurdles, however the most significant obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, style for Cocoa publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender segment of real estate to work with, but it is the most critical part of a printed book since it is in most cases the very first thing a person sees in the book shop. Regarding a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will ever get to publicize their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go yet it seems that in many instances one of the aspects folks usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a good sense of flight and it was undoubtedly a victory.

Cocoa logo design used for advertising as well as a label style for Vintage Case features an antiquated font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be antique cases. For this custom logo design I attempted to come up with a logo that provided a fluid vintage feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Cocoa, design consist of an arc with lines converging via it to suggest metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects considering that it appears that each and every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dentists do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really enjoy doing dentistry business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a household nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 personalities startled in height to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to describe how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo layout produced for a Cocoa hair style studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a company logo which communicated a spirit of contentment and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept that did not go the obvious course of creating simply a stylized orchid but rather delivered a logo that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is frequently the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the main focus on the feeling that they really wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo style produced for a horse cattle ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a one-of-a-kind brand concept customized to display the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of horses. With a distinctive head form and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most immediately recognizable equine breeds in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Cocoa Coffee shop logo design a small restaurant, design consists of a customized manuscript font style which hovers above a team of elaborate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo design a small restaurant, design contains a customized manuscript font which hovers above a group of elaborate lines and also dots.

Logo layout for a software application programmer the layout attributes as well as legendary Cocoa component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and drive operations. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge in between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the meaning behind a logo is equally as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

Progress logo style produced for a Cocoaindoor developer, design feature a series of red circles that intersect as well as change the letter O in the center of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Cocoa interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a person who arranges, researches, coordinates, and manages such ventures. Interior design is a diverse profession that consists of conceptual development, space planning, location inspections, programming, research, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and implementation of the design.

logo design provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Cocoa, the characters for letter V and A in middle of words progressed have been customized to connect directly into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Cocoa logo design project was undertaken for a leadership specialist that enables business leaders to develop into more successful at managing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Cocoa business logo layout featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly realized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to sell their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Cocoa logo design using an illustration that seizes the interest of traffic and projects an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.

Logo style MQ farms, this Cocoa company logo style has actually an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand idea wasn’t actually composed for an Cocoa area farm it was really created for a commodities broker, and this particular company logo was one of multiple that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to generate an identity that projected trust, success, and affluence.

Cocoa Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo style function for externally facing arrowhead and the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design that they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the liberty to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without recognizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this particular instance, I hit a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo made for using a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script typeface that is reminiscent of a well-known Cocoa sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed quite a lot of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project where I worked closely with the business owner to design a business logo which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
