Iona Logo Design

Every new Iona organization understands that they are in need of a logo, but few entrepreneurs thoroughly grasp the key role their organization logo will play in their success, or precisely why one logo design works better than another. A business logo has a critical and long-term impact on the financial success of a company, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Iona companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require deliberation, they can be comprehended in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo will stay legible and equally emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.

Retro logo style of a bike created for a Iona coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening up in an older section of the area and wished to visualize a nostalgic feel without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled both of these tasks by means of designing a custom logo concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and germs designed for Iona medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which investigates the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare that works with the clinical assessment of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I recollect where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves rather literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo layout with a jumping eco-friendly frog developed for a household fun center in Iona.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental offices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo including a group of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and a tree - designed for Iona travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but instead reveal emotional experiences by means of the images they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they frequently tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with mere words. I tried to do something much the same to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Iona logo design but also to reveal the depth of her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Iona logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design jobs that I take on I truly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however the customer, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family did not share his contempt for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get honest judgements on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their logo realize how essential a logo design is for their organization so they are much more invested in the outcome. Every logo design job has it’s allotment of obstacles, but the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Iona book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most necessary part of a published book because it is in most cases the initial thing a person sees in the bookstore. For a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will ever get to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart but it seems that in many instances 1 of the things individuals often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller new venture commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a spirit of flight and it was certainly a success.

Iona logo style utilized for advertising and marketing and a label layout for Vintage Case features an old font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, that looked to be antique cases. For this business logo design I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a website to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Iona, style include an arc with lines converging through it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs due to the fact that it appears that each and every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the very same way dental practices do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would most likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I actually love doing dental care logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a household nonprofit, the logo features 4 characters staggered in height to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to describe exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If people have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that describes itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo layout created for a hair design workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo which conveyed a feeling of contentment and class for their new hair studio. I created a concept that did not go the obvious course of crafting just a stylized orchid but alternatively created a company logo that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is usually the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the importance on the emotion that they really wanted to project to their patrons.

Logo design for a software application designer the layout features as well as renowned aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge in between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it represented something to the owner of the company and in many cases the meaning behind a logo is just as important as how it serves the enterprise it stands for.

A logo style featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly knew the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a location to sell off their used goods to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Iona logo dsign with an image that captures the attention of vehicles and sends an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo layout has an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem concept wasn’t really produced for an Iona regional farm it was really created for a commodities broker, and this brand was one of multiple that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was really to develop a graphic that projects self-assurance, financial success, and prosperity.
Logo design designed for the use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script font style that is reminiscent of a renowned sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked closely with the business owner to produce a logo design that worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
