TIPS FOR IDENTIFYING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design company presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they can’t refund the amount of time you commit which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but ultimately a design agency can only be judged from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t contain real world examples chances are they won’t be able to produce a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s purpose is to echo your unique vision for your business. If a designer is not focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how soon they can get paid.

Kendale Lakes LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping business owners grow notable brand identities. We have performed branding work for mechanics, educational institutions, diamond miners, party planners, restaurants, retail stores, and practically every other kind of business concern you can envision. What makes us different compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every logo design project as though it will be utilized as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first approach our designs can, and have been utilized in everything from clothing labels to neon signs. Our sign first method ensures that our logos are equally reliable whether they are used in TV commercials or web apps, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and always remembered regardless of scale or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that truly sets ImageCo apart from many of the design agencies that you might possibly have encountered in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are brought on board to perform, we perform ourselves. Irrespective of the type of project we undertake, business logo, web page, trade show booth, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will job out our customer’s projects to 3rd parties based outside the US. When you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that marks up the cost of your project and imposes the terms of how my customers and I do business.

QUALITIES OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Kendale Lakes company knows they require a logo, but few new business owners fully understand the essential role their logo design will make in their financial success, or precisely why one business logo functions more effectively than another. A business logo has an immediate and long term impact on the financial success of a company, go with the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Kendale Lakes companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t need deliberation, they can be comprehended in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from label to store signs a scalable logo design will continue to be legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the item or business they brand.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be ageless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It is both a verb and a noun, it is an identifying mark as well as the act of denoting something so that it can be identified, its foundation originates from the brand branded onto livestock. Today a brand represents pretty much anything with an objective, whether it be earnings or politics, a brand is an inherent aspect of defining the worth of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s sexy sister, they are both from the same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition targeted at a specific audience, it’s objective is to create a mental image that the target market can connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated by advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When a person mentions the names Ferrari or Mustang what we think about is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people buy those brands. Brand image is why people purchase specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the origin of many branding agencies you’ll discover that they are frequently rebranded marketing and advertising agencies. When somebody claims they are in advertising many people will likely have an idea about what they do. Yet when somebody states “I’m in branding”… it simply seems much more attractive, probably it’s due to the fact that most people don’t recognize what it means to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and kind of attractive.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that explains the visual aspects of a product or company that influence perceptions. This primarily consists of the name, the logo design, the product packaging, the different colors used however can also include audio, lights, texture, signs, actually anything that can be seen, touched or heard belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that focuses on a type of visual design that helps shape the perception of a firm, a product or an organization. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, packaging, as well as collateral material such as business cards, stationery, as well as pamphlets. Some identity designers also develop web sites as well as user interfaces. The essential function of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the objective of affecting activities, end results as well as assumptions.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Kendale Lakes coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually launching in an older part of the area and wished to cast a nostalgic atmosphere without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I achieved the two tasks by means of creating a company logo concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide as well as bacteria developed for Kendale Lakes medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which investigates the triggers and outcomes of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that works with the clinical evaluation of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recall in which I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Generally I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents quite literally, yet it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more focus grabbing and much more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping eco-friendly frog designed for a family enjoyable center in Kendale Lakes.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more lively high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and a tree - designed for Kendale Lakes travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but rather communicate emotional journeys through the photos they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they oftentimes share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with just words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Kendale Lakes logo but also to illustrate the depth in her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Kendale Lakes logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design projects that I take on I honestly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however the customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man really disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his contempt for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial judgements on the worthiness of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logos are a weird animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their business logo realize how crucial a logo is for their company so they are much more invested in the end result. Every logo design job has it’s portion of difficulties, however the greatest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Kendale Lakes publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin piece of real estate to work with, but it really is the most critical part of a printed book due to the fact that it is usually the primary thing a person views in the book store. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will likely ever have to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it seems that in many occurrences one of the things people tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small start-up commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a good sense of air travel and it was surely a victory.

Kendale Lakes logo design utilized for advertising and a label design for Vintage Case includes an antiquated font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand-new cases for musical instruments, that appeared to be older cases. For this logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a web page to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different point in time.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Kendale Lakes, layout consist of an arc with lines converging through it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects considering that it seems that every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dentists do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I actually love doing dental business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family members nonprofit, the logo features 4 characters startled in height to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo that conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to describe precisely how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo design created for a Kendale Lakes hair design studio including a script font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a business logo which carried a feeling of relaxation and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious path of crafting merely a stylized orchid but rather created a logo which suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is oftentimes the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the attention on the perception that they really wanted to project to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo design produced for a horse ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a one-of-a-kind business logo concept fashioned to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of horses. By having an identifiable head form and very high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the highly easily identifiable horse types in the world.

Las Cafe, A Kendale Lakes restaurant logo style a tiny dining establishment, design contains a customized manuscript typeface which hovers above a group of elaborate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a tiny dining establishment, design contains a customized script typeface which hovers above a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo design for a software developer the design functions and also legendary Kendale Lakes component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and hard drive managing. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge in between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it represented something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the significance behind a company logo is just as important as how it brands the enterprise it represents.

Evolve logo style produced for a Kendale Lakesindoor developer, style function a series of red circles that converge and also replace the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Kendale Lakes interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who arranges, investigates, coordinates, and oversees such projects. Interior design is a diverse profession that involves conceptual development, space planning, location inspections, programming, research, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and implementation of the design.

logo style done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Kendale Lakes, the characters for letter V and A in middle of words advanced have been changed to link directly into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Kendale Lakes logo design assignment was carried out for a management coach that assists business leaders to become more successful at supervising people, expectations, and profitability.

A Kendale Lakes business logo style including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly knew the market was ready for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a place to market their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Kendale Lakes logo design utilizing an illustration which garners the attention of vehicles and sends an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.

Logo style MQ farms, this Kendale Lakes company logo design has actually an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand concept wasn’t really composed for an Kendale Lakes area farm it was really created for an investments broker, and this particular company logo was one of several which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to produce a graphic that projects trust, success, and wealth.

Kendale Lakes Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo layout function for ostensibly facing arrowhead as well as the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the opportunity to delve into any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye in the absence of understanding where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this particular instance, I hit a bullseye with the very first go.

Logo created for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is evocative a famous Kendale Lakes sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked closely with the business owner to develop a business logo which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
