Lakeland, Florida Logo Design

Nearly every new Lakeland business professional realizes that they are in need of a logo, yet few entrepreneurs thoroughly recognize the key role their logo design can play in their success, or exactly why one logo design works more effectively than another. A company logo has an immediate and sustaining impact on the success of a business, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of a company.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Lakeland, Florida businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand contemplation, they can be comprehended in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo will continue to be legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the company they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be lasting and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.
Retro logo layout of a bicycle created for a Lakeland, Florida coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening in an old part of the area and hoped to project an old-fashioned vibe without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I fulfilled each of the tasks by means of designing a custom logo concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide as well as germs designed for Lakeland, Florida clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that investigates the causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare that deals with the laboratory evaluation of samplings of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the only instance I recall where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Usually I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents quite literally, yet it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more captivating, more focus grabbing and more meaningful.

logo design with a leaping green frog created for a family fun facility in Lakeland, Florida.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental professionals, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Lakeland, Florida travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead reveal emotional experiences through the photos they record. The idea behind this logo design was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they often convey whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with just words. I tried to do something comparable to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Lakeland logo but also to show the depth of her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Lakeland logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design projects that I take on I really savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but my customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy seriously loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family did not share his scorn for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased point of views on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family and they really liked the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their business logo understand how essential a logo design is for their organization so they are much more invested in the outcome. Every logo job has it’s portion of hurdles, but the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, style for Lakeland, Florida publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender parcel of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most necessary part of a published book because it is in most cases the first thing a person views in the book shop. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart however it seems like that in many cases one of the things consumers tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small start-up commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a good sense of airline flight and it was undoubtedly a victory.

Lakeland logo layout used for marketing as well as a label style for Vintage Case includes an antiquated typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be older cases. For this brand design I strove to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be used for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different generation.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Lakeland, Florida, design include an arc with lines intersecting through it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects because it appears that every single dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dental offices do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I actually love doing dental logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a household nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters startled in height to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to summarize precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that explains itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout produced for a hair layout studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo design which communicated a spirit of contentment and connection for their new hair salon. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious path of crafting just a stylized orchid but rather designed a logo which implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is usually the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the focus on the feeling that they wanted to project to their patrons.

Logo layout for a software designer the style attributes and also renowned component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive operations. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it intimated something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the meaning supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the company it represents.

A logo layout including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly understood the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a place to sell off their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Lakeland logo dsign along with an image that garners the interest of vehicles and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Lakeland Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo design attribute for ostensibly dealing with arrow and the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design that they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the opportunity to investigate any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without recognizing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this particular case, I nailed a bullseye with the very first go.

Logo designed for the use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font that is reminiscent of a well-known sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted loads of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked closely with the owner to develop a business logo which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
