Lakeland Logo Design

Each and every new Lakeland venture knows they require a logo, however few new business owners entirely understand the crucial role their logo design will play in their becoming successful, or why one business logo performs more effectively than another. A business logo has an immediate and sustaining impact on the success of a business, choose the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, select the wrong one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Lakeland businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require deliberation, they can be understood in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo will stay legible and just as emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be timeless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.

Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a Lakeland coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and cafe were opening in an older part of the city and wished to project a vintage feel without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I achieved both tasks by designing a custom logo design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide and bacteria developed for Lakeland medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which studies the root causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the field of medicine which works with the laboratory evaluation of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the only instance I recollect where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Usually I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more captivating, more focus grabbing and more meaningful.

logo layout with a leaping green frog designed for a household fun facility in Lakeland.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dentists, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Lakeland traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality because travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but rather convey emotional experiences by means of the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they oftentimes share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I tried to do something similar to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Lakeland logo design but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Lakeland logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design projects that I take on I truly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but my customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family did not share his contempt for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage them to share it with friends and family as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced opinions on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to create their logo design recognize how important a logo is for their business so they are much more invested in the final result. Every logo project possesses it’s allotment of obstacles, but the greatest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Lakeland publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most essential part of a printed book given that it is usually the very first thing a person views in the book shop. With regard to a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will likely ever have to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it seems that in many instances 1 of the aspects folks tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest startup commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a spirit of flight and it was certainly a success.

Lakeland logo style used for marketing and also a label style for Vintage Instance includes an old-fashioned typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this brand concept I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for everything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from another era.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Lakeland, design consist of an arc with lines converging with it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can be one of the most difficult logo design jobs considering that it appears that every dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dental professionals do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would probably include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really enjoy doing dental logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a household not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 personalities surprised in elevation to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to describe how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo layout developed for a hair style workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a business logo that carried a feeling of relaxation and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept which did not go the obvious direction of designing just a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a logo design that implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is in most cases the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead put the importance on the emotion that they really wanted to project to their patrons.

Logo layout for a software program developer the design features and legendary element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive management. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the meaning behind a logo design is just as important as how it serves the organization it stands for.

A logo style including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly recognized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a place to sell their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Lakeland business logo dsign utilizing an image that garners the attention of traffic and projects an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo layout has an area integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem idea wasn’t really produced for an Lakeland regional farm it was in reality devised for a products broker, and this logo design was one of multiple that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to design an identity that projected esteem, effectiveness, and wealth.
Logo made for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font style that is similar to a well-known sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created loads of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project in which I worked directly with the owner to develop a logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
