Norland Logo Design

Every new Norland venture knows they require a logo, however few entrepreneurs entirely realize the crucial role their company logo can perform in their becoming successful, or the reason that one logo design functions more effectively than another. A business logo has an instant and sustaining impact on the prosperity of a business, pick the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Norland companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not demand contemplation, they can be comprehended in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo will remain legible and equally emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be timeless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

Retro logo design of a bike created for a Norland coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee shop were opening in an older section of the area and wanted to project an old-fashioned atmosphere without appearing as boring or low energy. I fulfilled both of these tasks by creating a company logo concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide and germs designed for Norland clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which investigates the triggers and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine that deals with the laboratory evaluation of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the sole instance I call to mind where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Typically I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more captivating, more attention grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo style with a leaping environment-friendly frog made for a family members enjoyable facility in Norland.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dentists, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to integrate a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more dynamic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Norland traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche sector because travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but rather communicate emotional journeys by means of the pictures they capture. The idea behind this logo concept was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they frequently convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with just words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Norland logo design but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Norland logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design jobs that I take on I truly savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however my client, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family did not share his contempt for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get unbiased point of views on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family and they loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logos are a weird creature in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to create their business logo recognize how crucial a logo is for their business so they are much more invested in the end result. Every logo design job possesses it’s share of difficulties, but the greatest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Norland book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender parcel of real estate to work with, but it really is the most important part of a printed book since it is often the primary thing a person sees in the bookstore. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the opportunity they will ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go however it looks like that in many instances one of the things consumers often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small fledgling commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a spirit of airline flight and it was certainly a success.

Norland logo layout used for advertising and a tag design for Vintage Case includes an antiquated typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for musical instruments, that appeared to be older cases. For this brand design I attempted to come up with a logo that offered a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be utilized for every thing from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Norland, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to imply metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs considering that it seems that virtually every dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dentists do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would probably contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I actually love doing dental care logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family members nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters startled in height to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to explain precisely how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo layout developed for a hair design studio featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo design which conveyed a spirit of tranquility and class for their new hair salon. I created a concept that didn’t go the obvious direction of crafting simply a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a logo design that suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is oftentimes the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the main focus on the emotion that they wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Logo style for a software application designer the layout attributes and also legendary element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive management. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection between the software and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it represented something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the significance supporting a logo is just as important as how it brands the company it represents.

Progress logo layout created for a Norland indoor designer, style attribute a collection of red circles that intersect and change the letter O in the middle of the logo design.

A logo design including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly understood the market was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a spot to sell off their previously owned items to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Norland logo design dsign using a graphic that grabs the attention of traffic and sends an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo layout has actually an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand idea wasn’t really produced for an Norland area farm it was really created for a commodities broker, and this company was one of multiple that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to create a graphic that projects self-assurance, financial success, and opulence.
Logo design created for making use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font style that is similar to a popular sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking where I worked closely with the business owner to develop a logo design that worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
