Northdale Logo Design

Nearly every new Northdale company realizes that they need a logo, yet few new business owners thoroughly understand the crucial role their company logo can make in their success, or why one logo design works far better than another. A company logo has a critical and long term influence on the financial success of a company, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Northdale businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require scrutiny, they can be understood in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo will continue to be legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the enterprise they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be enduring and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.

Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Northdale coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee shop were opening in an old part of the area and really wanted to cast a vintage atmosphere without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I achieved both of these jobs via creating a custom logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide as well as germs made for Northdale clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which examines the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare which deals with the laboratory examination of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I call to mind where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Usually I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo style with a leaping green frog made for a family members fun facility in Northdale.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental offices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to feature a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more enthusiastic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design including a group of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Northdale traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche field because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead reveal emotional journeys by means of the images they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of most good photographers in that they frequently share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with just words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Northdale logo but also to illustrate the depth in her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Northdale logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I really relish and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but my client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members did not share his scorn for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to talk about it with colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get neutral assessments on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they adored the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Business logos are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to design their business logo recognize how vital a logo is for their company so they are way more vested in the end result. Every logo job possesses it’s share of difficulties, but the largest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, layout for Northdale book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, yet it is the most essential part of a published book given that it is usually the initial thing a person views in the book shop. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the opportunity that they will likely ever have to publicize their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it seems like that in many instances one of the things consumers often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a spirit of air travel and it was definitely a winner.

Northdale logo style utilized for marketing as well as a label design for Vintage Case includes an old-fashioned font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand-new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be older cases. For this business logo design I tried to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid vintage feel to it and could be used for everything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another generation.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Northdale, layout include an arc with lines converging via it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can be one of the most difficult logo jobs due to the fact that it seems that every single dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dentists do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I actually love doing dental care logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 characters startled in elevation to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to summarize precisely how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that describes itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a hair layout workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo design that conveyed an atmosphere of contentment and class for their new hair studio. I created a concept that did not go the obvious direction of creating simply a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a business logo which suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the logo design with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is generally the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the importance on the emotion that they wanted to project to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo design produced for a horse ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted a one-of-a-kind creative logo concept styled to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of horses. With a distinctive head shape and very high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the highly immediately identifiable horse breeds in the whole world.

Logo layout for a software programmer the style attributes as well as famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive management. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it stands for.

A logo layout including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly realized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a location to sell off their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Northdale logo dsign along with a graphic which garners the attention of traffic and sends an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo design has actually an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t actually designed for an Northdale regional farm it was actually developed for a commodities broker, and this company was one of several which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was to make a image that projected self-confidence, effectiveness, and prosperity.
Logo developed for using an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font that is similar to a renowned sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked directly with the proprietor to design a logo design which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
