Oak Ridge Logo Design

Each and every new Oak Ridge venture knows they are in need of a logo, however few new business owners fully understand the crucial role their logo design can play in their financial success, or precisely why one business logo performs better than another. A business logo has a critical and sustaining effect on the success of a company, select the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Oak Ridge companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require contemplation, they can be comprehended in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo will stay legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be timeless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bicycle created for a Oak Ridge coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and bistro were actually opening in an old section of the community and really wanted to visualize a vintage vibe without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I accomplished each of the tasks by means of creating a trademark design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and germs designed for Oak Ridge clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that deals with the laboratory examination of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the sole instance I recollect where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Typically I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves rather literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more captivating, more focus grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping green frog developed for a family members fun facility in Oak Ridge.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental experts, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to feature a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and a tree - designed for Oak Ridge traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but instead reveal emotional experiences through the pictures they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be revealed with just words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Oak Ridge logo design but also to illustrate the depth to her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Oak Ridge logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design projects that I take on I really enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however my customer, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family didn’t share his contempt for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge them to talk about it with colleagues and family members as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get neutral judgements on the benefit of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they adored the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo understand how important a logo is for their organization so they are way more vested in the outcome. Every logo design project possesses it’s allotment of challenges, but the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Oak Ridge publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most essential part of a published book considering that it is in most cases the first thing a person sees in the book shop. For a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will likely ever have to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars modified to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go nevertheless it seems like that in many cases one of the items folks often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest new venture commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a spirit of air travel and it was undoubtedly a success.

Oak Ridge logo layout utilized for advertising as well as a label layout for Vintage Situation includes an archaic typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this custom logo design I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different era.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Oak Ridge, layout consist of an arc with lines converging via it to suggest metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo projects considering that it seems that every single dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental professionals do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would most likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really enjoy doing dentist logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 characters surprised in height to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization hopes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to illustrate exactly how people should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that describes itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo style produced for a hair design studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo that related an atmosphere of ease and class for their new hair salon. I created a design which did not go the obvious direction of creating merely a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a business logo which implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is usually the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the main focus on the perception that they wanted to transmit to their customers.

Logo layout for a software program designer the design features as well as famous aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive operations. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it intimated something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the substance supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it serves the organization it represents.

A logo layout including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a location to sell their used goods to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Oak Ridge logo dsign using a graphic that garners the interest of vehicles and projects an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo style has actually an area integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo idea wasn’t really composed for an Oak Ridge regional farm it was really developed for a products broker, and this brand was one of many that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to produce an identity that projects esteem, success, and prosperity.
Logo developed for the use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script font that is evocative a famous sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted loads of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked closely with the proprietor to create a logo that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
