Ojus Logo Design

Every new Ojus organization realizes that they require a logo, but few new business owners fully grasp the key role their logo design can play in their becoming successful, or the reason that one logo performs far better than another. A company logo has an immediate and long term impact on the growth of a business, select the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Ojus companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require consideration, they can be grasped in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable business logo will stay legible and just as emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be timeless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

Retro logo design of a bike developed for a Ojus coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening up in an older part of the area and wanted to cast a retro atmosphere without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I achieved both of these jobs by creating a custom logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide as well as bacteria designed for Ojus medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that studies the triggers and outcomes of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare which deals with the clinical assessment of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the only instance I recall where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, however it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more captivating, more focus grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo style with a jumping green frog created for a family enjoyable center in Ojus.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dentists, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and a tree - developed for Ojus traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche area because travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but rather project emotional experiences by means of the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they often convey whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with mere words. I tried to do something comparable to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Ojus logo design but also to show the depth to her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Ojus logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I seriously enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but the customer, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man really hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his contempt for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge all of them to talk about it with colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get honest opinions on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo design realize how crucial a logo design is for their organization so they are way more invested in the result. Every logo project has it’s allotment of obstacles, however the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Ojus book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender parcel of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most essential part of a published book since it is in most cases the first thing a person sees in the book store. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will ever have to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it seems that in many cases one of the aspects individuals tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a feeling of flight and it was undoubtedly a success.

Ojus logo layout utilized for marketing as well as a label design for Vintage Instance features an archaic font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be vintage cases. For this logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be used for anything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different generation.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Ojus, layout include an arc with lines intersecting with it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging logo design projects because it appears that every dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the very same way dental professionals do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really love doing dental logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 characters surprised in height to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the people in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to summarize how people should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo layout created for a hair design workshop including a script font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a business logo which conveyed a feeling of ease and class for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious path of making merely a stylized orchid but instead created a business logo that implied a flower in the formation of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is oftentimes the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the emphasis on the perception that they wanted to project to their patrons.

Las Cafe logo style a tiny dining establishment, style includes a customized script font which hovers above a team of elaborate lines and dots.

Logo layout for a software developer the style features and legendary element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk operations. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it represented something to the owner of the business and in many cases the significance behind a company logo is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it represents.

A logo design including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly realized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a place to sell off their used goods to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Ojus logo design dsign with an image that captures the attention of traffic and projects an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo layout has a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t really created for an Ojus regional farm it was actually created for a products broker, and this particular creative logo was one of several that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to create a brand mark that projected trust, success, and affluence.
Logo design created for making use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font style that is similar to a popular sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked closely with the proprietor to design a business logo which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
