Memorable Logos That Tell Stories and Connect Emotionally

Developing a brand identity or a business logo that is both unforgettable and expresses the story of who you are or what you actually do is a massive undertaking. The difficulty is to make a design that is simplistic enough to be comprehended at a glance and imparts enough information that it can articulate who you are. But no logo can absolutely tell your story or summarize your business, and moving down that path usually produces a logo design that accomplishes neither. However, in skillful hands, it is quite possible to strike a balance between both and create a logo that both informs and emotes and hitting that sweet spot is what your business should hope for from their logo designer.

ImageCo is one person, Tim Garner, I am a freelance branding specialist. For over 20 years I ‘ve been designing memorable logos and brand identity designs which tell stories and resonate with viewers. However don’t take my word for it, check out my portfolio and discover for yourself. I don’t assert to be the best designer in the world, however, I do know what I am actually doing and my clients are inclined to agree.

A LOGO IS NOT YOUR BRAND

The expression “your logo is not your brand” is a statement that is often stated with such emphasis by people operating in the branding sector, that a person has to question why so many people in branding companies despise logos as much as they seem to. It is quite true that your logo is not your business’s brand, but what does that mean for a brand that has no logo? One thing is certain, it all but guarantees that a brand with no logo will be faceless and easily forgotten.

Without a visual identity, an organization’s brand is nothing more than a fading memory because consumers would have nothing to anchor their brand experiences too.

Some people compare a logo to a smile or a handshake which is slightly true, however it’s also far more than that. A logo is a brand’s anchor and it also acts as the cornerstone of an organization’s brand. A logo functions as an anchor since the entire brand experience is secured to it. It is also a brand’s cornerstone, because a cornerstone is the first stone laid when building the foundation of the structure above it, and once it is laid it will be the reference point for every thing that comes after it. A logo functions in the same way, it is a foundational element that supports the organization it represents, and it continuously serves as a reference that helps guide a brand as it expands.

ImageCo is a brand identity firm and our objective is to assist our clients lay that cornerstone as well as set that anchor. We help companies look established, more polished, and more knowledgeable. This helps ensure that our clients will always stand out, and are not only entitled to a seat at the table, but look like they ought to be seated at the head of that table.

As a result of our sign first technique our designs can, and have been employed in everything from garment labels to electrical signs. Our sign first method insures that our logos are just as successful whether they are used in television commercials or website apps, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and always remembered irrespective of scale or use.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that really sets ImageCo apart from other design firms that you may have encountered in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are enlisted to perform, we perform in-house. Regardless of the kind of project we take on, logo, business website, trade show banners, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our customer’s work to organizations based outside the United States. When you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that increases the price of your design project and determines the conditions of how my customers and I conduct business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Tampa company realizes that they probably need a logo, however few start ups thoroughly recognize the crucial role their organization’s logo can make in their success, or why one logo functions far better than another. A logo design has an immediate and long term impact on the prosperity of a company, pick the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of a company.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Tampa businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not need contemplation, they can be comprehended in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo design will stay legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be enduring and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It is both a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the process of marking something so that it can be identified, its foundation comes from the brand branded onto livestock. These days a brand symbolizes virtually anything with an objective, regardless if it be profit or government agencies, a brand is an innate aspect of defining the value of a specific thing in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s sexy sister, they are both from the exact same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest aimed at a target market, it’s goal is to develop an image that the target market can connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing and identity design. When somebody states the names Lamborghini or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can deliver us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes people purchase those products. Brand image is why people acquire most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Firms – If you reflect on the beginning of a lot of branding agencies you’ll find that they are often rebranded advertising agencies. When somebody states they are in marketing the majority of people will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or heard belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that specializes in a kind of visual design which helps shape the image of a company, a product or a company. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, as well as collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and pamphlets. Some visual designers also design websites and also software interfaces. The necessary function of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the goal of influencing activities, results and also understandings.

select SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo layout of a bicycle created for a Tampa coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and bistro were actually opening in an old part of the community and hoped to cast an old-fashioned atmosphere without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled each of the jobs by developing a logo design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and also germs created for Tampa clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that researches the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the field of medicine which deals with the clinical evaluation of samplings of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recall where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves very literally, yet it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and much more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog made for a family enjoyable facility in Tampa.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a more dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Tampa travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession because travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but rather project emotional journeys through the images they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they often share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with mere words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo by using the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Tampa logo but also to show the depth to her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Tampa logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design jobs that I take on I seriously take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man really loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family did not share his aversion for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge all of them to talk about it with friends and family as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get neutral point of views on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logo designs are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their logo understand how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo job possesses it’s portion of obstacles, however the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Tampa book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, but it is the most crucial part of a published book since it is ordinarily the initial thing a person views in the book shop. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will ever get to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart yet it seems like that in many occurrences one of the traits folks usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller start-up commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a good sense of flight and it was surely a success.

Tampa logo style used for marketing and a tag style for Vintage Situation features an antiquated typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be older cases. For this custom logo design I sought to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid vintage feel to it and could be used for everything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different generation.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Tampa, style consist of an arc with lines converging via it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo jobs due to the fact that it appears that every dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dental offices do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really enjoy doing dentistry business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities staggered in height to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to illustrate exactly how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that describes itself won’t have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo layout developed for a Tampa hair style workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo which conveyed a sense of ease and elegance for their new hair studio. I came up with a design which didn’t go the obvious course of designing just a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a logo that implied a flower in the formation of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is generally the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the attention on the perception that they really wanted to project to their patrons.

Arabian equine logo layout created for an equine ranch that focuses on reproducing Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a distinct logo design customized to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of horses. With an unique head shape and very high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the most quite easily identifiable equine breeds in the world.

Las Cafe, A Tampa restaurant logo layout a small restaurant, layout contains a customized manuscript font which floats over a team of ornate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo design a little restaurant, style contains a customized manuscript typeface which floats over a group of ornate lines as well as dots.

Logo design for a software application developer the design attributes and famous Tampa element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive managing. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it represented something to the owner of the business and in many cases the substance supporting a company logo is equally as important as how it brands the business it stands for.

Advance logo style produced for a Tampainterior developer, style function a collection of red circles that intersect and change the letter O in the middle of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Tampa interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is an individual who organizes, researches, collaborates, and oversees such tasks. logo design provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Tampa, the characters for letter V and also A in middle of words advanced have actually been modified to connect directly right into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Tampa logo design assignment was undertaken for a management guide that assists business professionals to develop into more successful at supervising people, expectations, and productivity.

A Tampa business logo style featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly understood the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a location to market their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Tampa business logo design along with a graphic that garners the interest of traffic and sends an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo style MQ farms, this Tampa company logo layout has an area included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo idea wasn’t actually produced for an Tampa area farm it was really developed for an investments broker, and this particular company was one of many that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to generate a graphic that projects confidence, success, and affluence.

Tampa Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo design function for outwardly encountering arrowhead as well as the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design they desired, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the flexibility to investigate any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of recognizing where the target is. Fortunately, in this instance, I hit a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo created for making use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is reminiscent of a popular Tampa sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed loads of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking where I worked directly with the business owner to develop a logo design which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
