Memorable Logos That Tell Stories and Connect Emotionally

Designing a brand identity or a logo design that is both memorable and tells the story about who you are or what you do is a significant undertaking. The challenge is to produce a design which is simple enough to be understood at a glimpse and transmits enough relevant information that it can articulate who you are. However no logo design can genuinely tell your story or explain your organization, and going down that path often produces a logo design that performs neither. Although, in experienced hands, it is possible to strike a balance between the two and design a brand identity that both informs and emotes and reaching that sweet spot is what every business should hope for from their brand identity designer.

ImageCo is one person, Tim Garner, I am an independent branding professional. For over twenty years I have been creating unforgettable logos and brand identity designs which tell stories and resonate with clients. But don’t take my word for it, check out my portfolio and see for yourself. I don’t assert that I’m the best brand identity designer in the world, however, I do know what I am actually doing and my clients tend to agree.

A LOGO IS NOT YOUR BRAND

The expression “your logo is not your brand” is a statement that is often stated with such emphasis by people operating in the branding sector, that a person has to question why so many people in branding companies despise logos as much as they seem to. It is definitely true that your logo is not your business’s brand, but what does that make a brand that has no logo? One thing is certain, it guarantees that a brand with no logo will be faceless and easily forgotten.

Without a visual identity, a business’s brand is really nothing more than a fading memory because consumers would have virtually nothing to anchor their experiences too.

Some people compare a logo to a smile or a handshake which is slightly accurate, however it’s actually much more than that. A logo is a brand’s anchor and it also functions as the cornerstone of a business’s brand. A logo acts as an anchor due to the fact that the entire brand experience is anchored to it. It is also a brand’s cornerstone, since a cornerstone is the first stone placed when constructing the foundation of the structure above it, and once it is laid it will be the guiding reference point for every thing that comes after it. A logo functions in the same way, it is a foundational element that supports the organization it represents, and it continuously serves as a reference that helps guide a brand as it grows.

ImageCo is a brand identity agency and our goal is to assist our customers lay that cornerstone as well as drop that anchor. We help businesses look more established, more refined, and more experienced. This helps ensure that our clients will always stand out, and are not only entitled to a seat at the table, but look like they ought to be seated at the head of that table.

Winter Springs LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping small business owners establish memorable brand identities. We have undertaken brand design work for mechanics, colleges, diamond miners, wedding singers, restaurants, retailers, and practically every other kind of business you can imagine. What makes us different compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every branding project as if it will be utilized as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first technique our brand identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from fashion labels to neon signs. Our sign first technique guarantees that our logo designs are just as reliable whether they are used in TV commercials or website apps, they are consistently recognizable, understood, and always remembered no matter of scale or function.

American Made ★ Design

Something which seriously sets ImageCo apart from other design agencies that you may have stumbled upon on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are brought on board to do, we do in-house. Regardless of the kind of project we take on, business logo, website design, trade show exhibit, or electric sign, we do not, and never will job-out our customer’s work to companies located outside the USA. When you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that marks up the cost of your design project and dictates the terms of how you and I conduct business.

ASPECTS OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Winter Springs entrepreneur realizes that they require a logo, however few new business owners thoroughly realize the crucial role their company logo can make in their success, or why one business logo performs more effectively than another. A company logo has an instant and long term effect on the success of a company, select the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a business.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Winter Springs companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require scrutiny, they can be understood in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from label to store signs a scalable logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the item or business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be timeless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It is both a verb and also a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the process of denoting something so that it could be identified, its genesis originates from the brand branded onto animals. Nowadays a brand represents practically anything with an objective, regardless if it be earnings or political parties, a brand is an innate aspect of defining the value of something in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s attractive cousin, they are both from the same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition aimed at a specific audience, it’s goal is to develop a mental image that the audience will likely identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When someone states the names Lamborghini or Mustang what we think of is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people buy those products. Brand image is why people acquire specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can relate to.

Branding Firms – If you look back at the beginning of the majority of branding agencies you’ll find that they are quite often rebranded marketing and advertising firms. When someone claims they are in advertising and marketing many people will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that specializes in a type of visual design that helps shape the perception of a business, a product or an institution. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, packaging, and collateral products such as business cards, stationery, and also sales brochures. Some identity designers also build web sites as well as software interfaces. The essential duty of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues as well as a psychological tone with the objective of influencing actions, results as well as assumptions.

Featured logos & signs

Retro logo layout of a bike created for a Winter Springs coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and cafe were actually opening in an older section of the town and wished to cast a retro feel without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I achieved both of these tasks by developing a trademark design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide as well as germs designed for Winter Springs medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which investigates the triggers and consequences of diseases, especially the field of healthcare which works with the laboratory assessment of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I remember in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more appealing, more interest grabbing and a lot more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog developed for a family enjoyable center in Winter Springs.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better dynamic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and also a tree - created for Winter Springs traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality because travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but instead project emotional journeys through the images they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they oftentimes convey whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with mere words. I tried to do something the same to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Winter Springs logo design but also to reveal the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Winter Springs logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design projects that I take on I really enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but the client, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy really disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his hatred for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get neutral assessments on the value of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they adored the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Business logos are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their logo design realize how essential a logo is for their business so they are much more invested in the end result. Every logo design job has it’s portion of obstacles, but the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Winter Springs publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, yet it is the most critical part of a printed book given that it is ordinarily the initial thing a person sees in the bookstore. Regarding a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will likely ever get to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go however it seems like that in many instances one of the things folks often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young startup commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a sense of air travel and it was undoubtedly a success.

Winter Springs logo style utilized for advertising and marketing as well as a label design for Vintage Situation features an antiquated font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be vintage cases. For this logo design I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for every thing from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Winter Springs, layout include an arc with lines converging through it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can easily be one of the most difficult logo jobs considering that it appears that every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the same way dental practitioners do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really enjoy doing dentistry logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family members nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters startled in height to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to describe specifically how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If people have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that describes itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo style created for a Winter Springs hair design workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a business logo that carried an atmosphere of ease and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept which did not go the obvious path of designing simply a stylized orchid but instead delivered a business logo which suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl featured into the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is oftentimes the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead laid the importance on the perception that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Arabian equine logo design developed for a steed cattle ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a one-of-a-kind brand design styled to embody the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of horses. By having a different head shape and very high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most quite easily identifiable horse breeds in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Winter Springs restaurant logo layout a little restaurant, layout consists of a customized manuscript font style which hovers over a team of elaborate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo style a small restaurant, style contains a modified script typeface which hovers over a team of ornate lines and also dots.

Logo design for a software application programmer the layout attributes as well as legendary Winter Springs element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive operations. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it represented something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the meaning supporting a company logo is equally as important as how it serves the enterprise it represents.

Advance logo design developed for a Winter Springsinterior developer, design function a collection of red circles that intersect as well as replace the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Winter Springs interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who organizes, investigates, collaborates, and manages such tasks. Interior design is a diverse profession that includes conceptual development, area planning, site evaluations, programming, investigation, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and execution of the design.

logo design done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Winter Springs, the personalities for letter V as well as A in middle of the word progressed have been changed to connect straight right into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Winter Springs logo design project was completed for a leadership guide that enables business leaders to become more effective at handling people, expectations, and profitability.

A Winter Springs business logo layout including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly understood the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a place to sell their secondhand equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Winter Springs business logo design using an illustration which garners the attention of vehicles and sends an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo design MQ farms, this Winter Springs company logo style has a field incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t actually composed for an Winter Springs area farm it was really devised for a products broker, and this company logo was one of multiple that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was actually to create a graphic that projected esteem, success, and wealth.

Winter Springs Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo style feature for outwardly facing arrow and the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design that they desired, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the freedom to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without realizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo design designed for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font that is reminiscent of a popular Winter Springs sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed dozens of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project where I worked closely with the proprietor to design a logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
