Calhoun Logo Design

Each and every new Calhoun company understands that they are in need of a logo, but few entrepreneurs fully are aware of the crucial role their organization logo can make in their financial success, or why one logo functions better than another. A logo design has an immediate and long term impact on the prosperity of a company, go with the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the life of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Calhoun companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require contemplation, they can be comprehended in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo design will stay legible and just as emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the enterprise they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be enduring and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

Retro logo style of a bicycle produced for a Calhoun coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and cafe were actually launching in an older part of the town and really wanted to project an old-fashioned tone without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled both tasks by creating a company logo design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide as well as germs developed for Calhoun medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare that works with the laboratory evaluation of specimens of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the only instance I call to mind in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more interesting, more interest grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo layout with a leaping eco-friendly frog made for a household enjoyable center in Calhoun.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental professionals, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Calhoun traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but rather communicate emotional experiences through the images they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they oftentimes convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with mere words. I made an effort to do something very similar to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Calhoun logo design but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Calhoun logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design projects that I take on I truly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but my client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy really loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his aversion for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to share it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get neutral viewpoints on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their logo comprehend how crucial a logo is for their company so they are much more vested in the end result. Every logo project has it’s allotment of difficulties, but the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Calhoun publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender segment of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most vital part of a published book given that it is often the initial thing a person sees in the book shop. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the opportunity they will ever get to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart nevertheless it seems that in many cases 1 of the things individuals usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest fledgling commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a spirit of air travel and it was undoubtedly a victory.

Calhoun logo design made use of for advertising and marketing and also a label design for Vintage Instance includes an old font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand-new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be older cases. For this logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that provided a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be utilized for anything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another era.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Calhoun, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs because it appears that almost every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dental offices do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really love doing dentist logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family nonprofit, the logo design features 4 characters startled in elevation to stand for a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wants to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to illustrate how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that describes itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout produced for a hair style workshop including a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo that carried a sense of relaxation and elegance for their new hair studio. I came up with a design that didn’t go the obvious path of crafting merely a stylized orchid but alternatively created a business logo which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is more often than not the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the focus on the perception that they really wanted to project to their patrons.

Logo layout for a software program developer the design attributes and also famous element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a bridge in between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it intimated something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the substance behind a company logo is just as important as how it brands the enterprise it stands for.

A logo layout featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a place to sell off their secondhand items to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Calhoun logo dsign with an image that pulls in the interest of vehicles and sends an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo design wasn’t really developed for an Calhoun regional farm it was actually created for a commodities broker, and this particular company logo was one of multiple which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. Logo design created for using an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript typeface that is similar to a well-known sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted dozens of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked directly with the business owner to create a logo design that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
