Griffin Logo Design

Every new Griffin company understands that they need a logo, however few entrepreneurs thoroughly recognize the vital role their logo will make in their success, or precisely why one business logo performs more effectively than another. A logo design has a critical and lasting influence on the success of a company, pick the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of an organization. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Griffin companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not demand deliberation, they can be comprehended in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable business logo will be legible and just as emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the company they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

Retro logo style of a bicycle produced for a Griffin coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee bar were launching in an old part of the community and really wanted to cast a retro vibe without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I fulfilled the two tasks by creating a logo concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria made for Griffin clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that researches the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare that deals with the laboratory evaluation of specimens of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recall in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Generally I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, yet it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more captivating, more interest grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping green frog made for a family fun center in Griffin.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental practices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and also a tree - created for Griffin travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but rather communicate emotional experiences by means of the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo design was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they often tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I attempted to do something comparable to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Griffin logo but also to illustrate the depth to her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Griffin logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I truly relish and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but the client, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man genuinely hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his hatred for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage all of them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced opinions on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logos are a weird animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire an expert to create their logo design realize how vital a logo design is for their business so they are much more vested in the outcome. Every logo design project possesses it’s share of obstacles, but the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, design for Griffin publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped segment of real estate to work with, however it is the most crucial part of a printed book due to the fact that it is ordinarily the very first thing a person views in the book shop. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will ever have to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it looks like that in many occurrences one of the items people often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest new venture commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a sense of flight and it was definitely a success.

Griffin logo design used for marketing and a tag layout for Vintage Situation features an antiquated typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be vintage cases. For this logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another era.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Griffin, layout consist of an arc with lines converging with it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects because it appears that every single dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company advertising, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dental offices do every one of their company logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I actually love doing dental care logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities surprised in height to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to describe specifically how people should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout developed for a hair layout workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo which projected a sense of ease and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a design that didn’t go the obvious route of designing simply a stylized orchid but rather created a logo that implied a flower in the formation of a swirl featured into the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is frequently the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the emphasis on the emotion that they wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo style for a software program developer the style attributes as well as legendary element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk operations. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge between the software and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance behind a business logo is equally as important as how it serves the organization it represents.

This particular Griffin logo design project was undertaken for a management guide that helps business leaders to become more successful at managing people, expectations, and productivity.

A logo design featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly knew the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a spot to sell off their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Griffin business logo dsign along with an image that grabs the interest of traffic and sends an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo layout has a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo design wasn’t actually created for an Griffin area farm it was really devised for a products broker, and this trademark was one of multiple that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to produce an identity that projected trust, effectiveness, and luxury.
Logo design made for making use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script font that is similar to a popular sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked closely with the owner to produce a business logo that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
