North Druid Hills Logo Design

Nearly every new North Druid Hills venture understands that they need a logo, but few new business owners entirely realize the essential role their company logo will perform in their success, or exactly why one logo functions better than another. A business logo has an immediate and lasting influence on the growth of a business, pick the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help North Druid Hills businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand scrutiny, they can be understood in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo will remain legible and just as emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be enduring and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bicycle created for a North Druid Hills coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and cafe were actually opening up in an old part of the city and really wanted to project a nostalgic atmosphere without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved both of these tasks by creating a company logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and also bacteria created for North Druid Hills medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the root causes and effects of diseases, especially the field of medicine which deals with the clinical assessment of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recollect where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents rather literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more captivating, more attention grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo design with a leaping green frog developed for a household fun facility in North Druid Hills.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dentists, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to feature a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more enthusiastic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and a tree - created for North Druid Hills travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead project emotional journeys through the images they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they often share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with mere words. I attempted to do something the same to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  North Druid Hills logo but also to illustrate the depth of her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

North Druid Hills logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design projects that I take on I seriously enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but the customer, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his contempt for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get objective viewpoints on the value of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo recognize how crucial a logo is for their company so they are much more vested in the outcome. Every logo job possesses it’s allotment of difficulties, however the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, layout for North Druid Hills publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, but it really is the most critical part of a printed book due to the fact that it is ordinarily the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will ever get to promote their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it looks like that in many occurrences one of the items consumers often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller start-up commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to affording a good sense of flight and it was certainly a winner.

North Druid Hills logo layout made use of for marketing and also a tag style for Vintage Instance includes an antiquated font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be antique cases. For this logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that offered a fluid retro feel to it and could be utilized for everything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another generation.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in North Druid Hills, design include an arc with lines converging via it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects because it appears that every single dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dental professionals do every one of their company logos would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would most likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really love doing dentist logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a household not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 characters startled in height to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization hopes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to summarize precisely how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If people have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that describes itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo design developed for a hair design workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo which conveyed a feeling of simplicity and class for their new hair studio. I came up with a design which didn’t go the obvious course of creating simply a stylized orchid but rather crafted a logo design which implied a flower in the formation of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the logo design using the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is more often than not the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the importance on the feeling that they wanted to transmit to their customers.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo layout for a software program designer the design attributes as well as famous element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive managing. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection in between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it intimated something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a company logo is just as important as how it brands the enterprise it represents.

A logo design featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly recognized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a location to sell their pre-owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their North Druid Hills business logo dsign utilizing an image which garners the attention of vehicles and sends an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo style has an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo concept wasn’t really designed for an North Druid Hills area farm it was actually created for a commodities broker, and this particular logo was one of multiple that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to design a graphic that projects trust, effectiveness, and opulence.
Logo design designed for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is evocative a renowned sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked closely with the owner to produce a logo design which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
