Hawaii Logo Design

Every new Hawaii company realizes that they are in need of a logo, but few new business owners thoroughly realize the essential role their company logo can make in their success, or exactly why one logo performs better than another. A company logo has a critical and lasting impact on the financial success of a company, pick the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life of an organization.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Hawaii companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require contemplation, they can be grasped in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo will stay legible and just as emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Hawaii coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company

This start-up coffee roaster and bistro were opening up in an old section of the city and hoped to visualize a vintage feel without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I achieved both of these tasks via designing a business logo concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and also bacteria made for Hawaii clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design Project

Pathology is the science that researches the triggers and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare that works with the clinical assessment of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the only instance I recollect in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Generally I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and a lot more memorable.

logo design with a jumping eco-friendly frog designed for a household enjoyable facility in Hawaii.

Cool Springs | Retail Branding Project

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental practices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a much more lively high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Hawaii travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead communicate emotional experiences by means of the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they often convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with just words. I attempted to do something comparable to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Hawaii logo design but also to show the depth of her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Hawaii logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design Project

The majority of logo design projects that I take on I genuinely relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however the customer, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man truly loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family did not share his aversion for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge them to share it with friends and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get objective point of views on the value of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logos are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to create their logo realize how important a logo is for their organization so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo design job possesses it’s allotment of hurdles, but the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, style for Hawaii book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design Project

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most crucial part of a published book considering that it is often the first thing a person sees in the bookstore. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity that they will likely ever have to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books. This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design Project

Airlines arrive and depart however it seems like that in many cases one of the aspects consumers often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young new venture commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a feeling of flight and it was definitely a success.

Hawaii logo design used for advertising and marketing and a tag design for Vintage Instance includes an old font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design Project

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be older cases. For this brand concept I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different generation.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Hawaii, design consist of an arc with lines converging through it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design Project

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo design jobs due to the fact that it appears that every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry. I really enjoy doing dental logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on. Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.
William McNally logo made for a household not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities staggered in elevation to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design Project

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to communicate. The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to describe exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If people have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that describes itself won’t have the chance to be understood.
Logo layout developed for a hair style studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo which projected a spirit of simplicity and class for their new hair salon. I created a concept which did not go the obvious route of crafting simply a stylized orchid but rather crafted a logo design that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl blended into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is generally the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the focus on the emotion that they wanted to project to their clients.

Las Cafe | Logo Design Project

Las Cafe logo style a little restaurant, style contains a customized manuscript font style which floats above a group of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Logo style for a software program designer the style attributes and renowned aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design Project

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive management. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge between the software and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it meant something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance behind a company logo is equally as important as how it serves the company it stands for.

Advance logo layout created for a Hawaii interior developer, style function a collection of red circles that intersect and also replace the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design Project

A logo layout including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly understood the market was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a place to sell off their pre-owned items to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Hawaii logo design with an image that grabs the interest of traffic and projects an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.

Logo design MQ farms, this logo style has actually a field incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t actually created for an Hawaii area farm it was in reality created for a products broker, and this particular logo design was one of multiple that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to develop a image that projected self-assurance, financial success, and prosperity.

Hawaii Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo style feature for externally dealing with arrowhead and the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the freedom to delve into any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of understanding where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo developed for using an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script font that is reminiscent of a renowned sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Branding

I have designed quite a lot of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked directly with the owner to produce a logo that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
