Honolulu Logo Design

Nearly every new Honolulu company understands that they need a logo, but few entrepreneurs entirely understand the crucial role their logo can perform in their financial success, or why one logo design works better than another. A company logo has an instant and long term impact on the financial success of a company, go with the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Honolulu businesses succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require scrutiny, they can be grasped in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the company they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be timeless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

Retro logo design of a bike created for a Honolulu coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee bar were launching in an old section of the city and hoped to cast an old-fashioned tone without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished both of these jobs by developing a business logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and bacteria designed for Honolulu medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which researches the causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of medicine which works with the clinical examination of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the sole instance I call to mind where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Typically I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents quite literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more captivating, more attention grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo layout with a leaping environment-friendly frog created for a family members fun facility in Honolulu.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the types of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental professionals, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more dynamic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and a tree - developed for Honolulu travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I think it is a niche sector because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but rather convey emotional experiences by means of the images they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of good photographers in that they often share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be conveyed with just words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Honolulu logo but also to show the depth of her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Honolulu logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I truly relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but the customer, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family did not share his hatred for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge all of them to share it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get objective point of views on the benefit of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo design realize how important a logo is for their company so they are way more vested in the result. Every logo project possesses it’s portion of difficulties, but the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Honolulu book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender segment of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most important part of a published book due to the fact that it is ordinarily the primary thing a person sees in the bookstore. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity that they will likely ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it seems that in many occurrences 1 of the aspects people tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest start-up commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to affording a good sense of air travel and it was certainly a winner.

Honolulu logo design made use of for marketing and also a tag design for Vintage Case includes an archaic typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be older cases. For this business logo design I tried to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid retro feel to it and could be used for anything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different point in time.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Honolulu, layout include an arc with lines converging through it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects due to the fact that it seems that every single dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really enjoy doing dental logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo features 4 characters startled in height to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to explain how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that explains itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout created for a hair design studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo that conveyed an atmosphere of ease and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious course of creating simply a stylized orchid but instead designed a logo design that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is in most cases the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately placed the attention on the feeling that they wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo design developed for a horse ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created an original logotype concept tailored to epitomize the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. With an identifiable head form and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most quite easily recognizable horse types in the entire world.

Las Coffee shop logo layout a tiny restaurant, design consists of a changed script font style which hovers over a group of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Logo style for a software designer the style features as well as renowned component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive operations. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection in between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it intimated something to the owner of the business and in many cases the substance supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the organization it represents.

A logo layout including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly understood the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to sell off their pre-owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Honolulu logo dsign using an image which garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo layout has a field integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo concept wasn’t really composed for an Honolulu area farm it was really designed for an investments broker, and this creative logo was one of several which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to generate a brand mark that projected assurance, success, and affluence.
Logo designed for the use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is similar to a renowned sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed loads of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked directly with the proprietor to develop a business logo that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
