Belmont Cragin Logo Design

Virtually every new Belmont Cragin venture realizes that they need a logo, yet few new business owners thoroughly recognize the essential role their logo design can play in their success, or precisely why one business logo functions more effectively than another. A business logo has an immediate and lasting effect on the financial success of a business, pick the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Belmont Cragin businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not demand contemplation, they can be grasped in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo will remain legible and equally emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the enterprise they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be timeless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.

Retro logo layout of a bicycle developed for a Belmont Cragin coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee bar were opening in an older part of town and wished to cast a retro feel without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished the two tasks by means of developing a company logo concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide and germs designed for Belmont Cragin medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that investigates the causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare that deals with the laboratory assessment of samplings of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Typically I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, yet it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and a lot more memorable.

logo style with a jumping green frog developed for a household fun center in Belmont Cragin.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and a tree - developed for Belmont Cragin travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality because travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but instead convey emotional experiences by means of the photos they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they frequently convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with just words. I attempted to do something comparable to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Belmont Cragin logo but also to reveal the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Belmont Cragin logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design projects that I take on I really savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however the customer, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy genuinely hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family didn’t share his contempt for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage all of them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get objective viewpoints on the value of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family and they adored the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to create their logo understand how crucial a logo design is for their organization so they are way more vested in the end result. Every logo project possesses it’s portion of difficulties, but the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, layout for Belmont Cragin publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, yet it is the most critical part of a printed book since it is usually the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. Regarding a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will likely ever get to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go nevertheless it seems like that in many occurrences 1 of the things folks often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a feeling of flight and it was undoubtedly a success.

Belmont Cragin logo design utilized for advertising and marketing as well as a label design for Vintage Instance features an antiquated font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be antique cases. For this logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid old style feel to it and could be utilized for everything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different point in time.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Belmont Cragin, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs considering that it appears that each and every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really love doing dental care logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 characters startled in height to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to explain specifically how people should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo design created for a hair layout workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo design that carried a sense of peace and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a concept which did not go the obvious course of crafting just a stylized orchid but alternatively created a logo design which implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is frequently the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately placed the emphasis on the perception that they really wanted to project to their customers.

Logo design for a software programmer the design functions and famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge in between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it intimated something to the owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism behind a logo design is just as important as how it serves the organization it stands for.

A logo design featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly knew the market was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a spot to market their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Belmont Cragin logo dsign using an image that pulls in the attention of vehicles and projects an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo layout has a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo concept wasn’t actually created for an Belmont Cragin regional farm it was actually designed for a commodities broker, and this particular business logo was one of many that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was to design a graphic that projected confidence, success, and wealth.
Logo made for the use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is evocative a renowned sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted dozens of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project in which I worked closely with the proprietor to develop a logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
