Calumet City, Illinois Logo Design

Virtually every new Calumet City business knows they require a logo, yet few entrepreneurs thoroughly recognize the key role their logo design will take in their financial success, or why one logo functions more effectively than another. A business logo has an instant and long term influence on the financial success of a company, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of an organization.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Calumet City, Illinois companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not demand scrutiny, they can be grasped in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo will be legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo layout of a bike produced for a Calumet City, Illinois coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee bar were opening in an old section of the city and wished to cast a nostalgic tone without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I achieved each of the tasks by creating a custom logo design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and also bacteria made for Calumet City, Illinois clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that studies the causes and consequences of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare that deals with the laboratory examination of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the only instance I remember where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more interesting, more focus grabbing and more meaningful.

logo design with a leaping environment-friendly frog created for a household fun center in Calumet City, Illinois.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the types of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dentists, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the company features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more lively high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Calumet City, Illinois traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture places or things but instead project emotional experiences through the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of good photographers in that they frequently share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I attempted to do something the same to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Calumet City logo but also to illustrate the depth in her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Calumet City logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design projects that I take on I genuinely enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but my client, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his hatred for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage all of them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial opinions on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family and they loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their logo realize how important a logo design is for their organization so they are way more vested in the result. Every logo job has it’s portion of hurdles, but the largest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Calumet City, Illinois book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender piece of real estate to work with, however it is the most necessary part of a printed book since it is ordinarily the first thing a person views in the book shop. With regard to a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will likely ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it seems that in many occurrences 1 of the items people often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a feeling of airline flight and it was surely a success.

Calumet City logo design utilized for advertising as well as a label design for Vintage Situation features an antiquated font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be much older cases. For this brand concept I sought to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid retro feel to it and could be used for everything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Calumet City, Illinois, style consist of an arc with lines converging with it to imply metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs due to the fact that it appears that each and every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dental offices do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I actually love doing dental care logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 characters staggered in elevation to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo that conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to describe how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that illustrates itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout created for a hair style studio including a script font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo which communicated an atmosphere of simplicity and class for their new hair studio. I created a design which did not go the obvious route of creating just a stylized orchid but instead crafted a logo which suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is oftentimes the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the focus on the emotion that they wanted to transmit to their customers.

Logo style for a software designer the layout features as well as iconic element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and hard drive operations. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it meant something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the substance behind a company logo is equally as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

A logo layout featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly knew the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a place to sell off their pre-owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Calumet City business logo dsign using a graphic that garners the interest of vehicles and projects an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo style has actually an area integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo design wasn’t actually composed for an Calumet City, Illinois area farm it was actually devised for an investments broker, and this particular trademark was one of several that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to produce an identity that projects self-assurance, success, and wealth.

Calumet City Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo style function for ostensibly encountering arrow and the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the liberty to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without knowing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this particular case, I hit a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo made for the use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font that is similar to a well-known sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed loads of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked closely with the owner to produce a logo design that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
