TIPS ON CHOOSING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design firm presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they can not refund the time you invest which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but ultimately a designer can only be determined by the quality of their design work, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t contain real world samples chances are they won’t be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be understood and remembered, and it’s purpose is to mirror your personal vision for your company. If a logo designer isn’t focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how quickly they will get paid.

Carol Stream LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs develop memorable brand identities. We’ve undertaken logo design work for builders, colleges, heart surgeons, party planners, restaurants, retailers, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can envision. What makes us unique compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every brand identity project as though it will be used as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first strategy our logo designs can, and have been utilized in everything from fashion labels to electrical signs. Our sign first method insures that our logos are equally reliable whether they are used in television commercials or website headers, they are consistently recognizable, understood, and remembered irrespective of scale or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that really sets ImageCo apart from many of the design agencies that you probably have found on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are retained to perform, we perform ourselves. Irrespective of the type of design project we accept, brand identity design, web site, trade show exhibition, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will contract out our customer’s projects to companies located outside the US. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that increases the price of your project and determines the conditions of how you and I do business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Every new Carol Stream company realizes that they need a logo, however few start-ups thoroughly grasp the key role their organization’s logo will make in their success, or precisely why one business logo works more effectively than another. A logo design has an immediate and sustaining effect on the prosperity of a company, select the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of an organization. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Carol Stream businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require deliberation, they can be comprehended in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from label to store signs a scalable logo will stay legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the product or business they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo should be lasting and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s both a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark as well as the process of denoting something to ensure that it could be recognized, its genesis comes from the mark branded onto livestock. Nowadays a brand represents basically anything with an objective, regardless of whether it be profit or political parties, a brand is an inherent aspect of defining the value of something in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s attractive sister, they are each from the exact same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition aimed at a target audience, it’s goal is to develop an image that the audience will relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When a person mentions the brand names Ferrari or Mustang what we think about is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes people want those brands. Brand image is why people get specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Firms – If you look back at the history of many branding agencies you’ll find that they are quite often re-branded advertising and marketing agencies. When someone says they are in advertising most individuals will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or heard are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that focuses on a type of visual design that helps form the perception of a company, a product or a company. Brand identity designers create logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, and also collateral material such as cards, stationery, and also sales brochures. Some visual designers also develop sites and also software interfaces. The necessary function of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and a psychological tone with the goal of affecting actions, end results and also assumptions.

Featured logos & signs

Retro logo style of a bike developed for a Carol Stream coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee bar were opening up in an older section of the community and wished to project a nostalgic atmosphere without appearing as boring or low energy. I achieved each of the tasks by creating a company logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and germs created for Carol Stream clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the causes and consequences of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that works with the laboratory assessment of specimens of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more interesting, more interest grabbing and much more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping green frog made for a household fun center in Carol Stream.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental professionals, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Carol Stream travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I think it is a niche field because travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather communicate emotional experiences by means of the pictures they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they oftentimes tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with mere words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Carol Stream logo but also to show the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Carol Stream logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I honestly relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man seriously disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his contempt for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage them to discuss it with friends and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get objective point of views on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logos are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo design understand how important a logo design is for their organization so they are way more vested in the outcome. Every logo job has it’s share of difficulties, but the greatest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, design for Carol Stream book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender parcel of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most crucial part of a published book due to the fact that it is in most cases the primary thing a person sees in the bookstore. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the opportunity that they will likely ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go but it looks like that in many cases 1 of the traits folks usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to affording a sense of flight and it was definitely a victory.

Carol Stream logo style utilized for marketing as well as a label layout for Vintage Case includes an old typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be vintage cases. For this custom logo design I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be utilized for every thing from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another era.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Carol Stream, design consist of an arc with lines converging via it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can be one of the most challenging logo jobs considering that it seems that each and every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dental offices do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really love doing dental care logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family members nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters startled in elevation to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to illustrate precisely how people should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that explains itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo design produced for a Carol Stream hair style studio including a script font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo which related a spirit of simplicity and class for their new hair studio. I created a design that did not go the obvious route of designing just a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a business logo which implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is in most cases the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately put the main focus on the emotion that they wanted to project to their customers.

Arabian steed logo design produced for an equine ranch that specializes in breeding Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a unique logo design styled to exemplify the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. With a distinctive head shape and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the highly immediately identifiable equine lineages in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Carol Stream restaurant logo design a little restaurant, style includes a changed script typeface which hovers over a group of ornate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a small restaurant, style consists of a changed manuscript font style which hovers above a group of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Logo style for a software program developer the layout features and also legendary Carol Stream element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive operations. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge in between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it meant something to the owner of the company and in many cases the substance behind a logo is just as important as how it serves the enterprise it stands for.

Progress logo design produced for a Carol Streamindoor developer, style function a collection of red circles that intersect and replace the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Carol Stream interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who arranges, researches, coordinates, and oversees such projects. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that consists of conceptual development, area planning, location assessments, programming, research study, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Carol Stream, the personalities for letter V and A in center of words progressed have actually been customized to link straight into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Carol Stream logo design project was done for a leadership specialist that enables business leaders to develop into more effective at managing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Carol Stream business logo layout including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly knew the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a spot to market their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Carol Stream logo design design along with an illustration which garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo design MQ farms, this Carol Stream company logo layout has an area integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo idea wasn’t actually produced for an Carol Stream regional farm it was actually developed for a products broker, and this company logo was one of many which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to create a image that projects self-confidence, success, and opulence.

Carol Stream Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo style function for outwardly dealing with arrowhead and the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the opportunity to explore any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where the target is. Fortunately, in this case, I nailed a bullseye with the very first shot.

Logo created for making use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script typeface that is reminiscent of a famous Carol Stream sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created quite a lot of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked directly with the business owner to develop a logo design which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
