TIPS FOR CHOOSING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design firm presents a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they simply cannot reimburse the time you commit which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but in the end a design agency can only be judged by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t feature actual samples odds are they will not be able to produce a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s purpose is to reflect your unique vision for your company. If a designer isn’t focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they can get paid.

Cary LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping small business owners establish memorable brand identities. We’ve done brand design work for ranchers, universities, heart surgeons, wedding singers, restaurants, retailers, and just about every other kind of business you can think of. What makes us different compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every logo design project as though it will be used as an electric sign. Because of our sign first technique our designs can, and have been used in everything from garment labels to billboards. Our sign first technique insures that our logo designs are just as effective whether they are used in television commercials or web headers, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and remembered irrespective of size or application.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which seriously sets ImageCo apart from many of the design firms that you might have come across on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are retained to perform, we do ourselves. No matter the type of project we take on, logo, website design, trade show exhibition, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will contract out our customer’s projects to companies located outside the USA. When you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that increases the cost of your design project and dictates the terms of how we conduct business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new Cary company realizes that they require a logo, yet few new business owners fully realize the crucial role their organization’s logo can play in their becoming successful, or exactly why one logo works more effectively than another. A logo design has a critical and long-term influence on the growth of a company, pick the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of an organization. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Cary companies succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require consideration, they can be comprehended in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from label to posters a scalable business logo will be legible and just as emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the item or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be ageless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It is a verb and a noun, it is an identifying mark as well as the act of marking something to make sure that it can be distinguished, its origin originates from the mark burned onto animals. Today a brand symbolizes virtually anything with a motive, regardless if it be revenue or political parties, a brand is an inherent aspect of specifying the value of something in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s sexy sister, they are all from the same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition directed at a specific audience, it’s objective is to create a mental image that the audience will relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated by advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When somebody states the names Porsche or Corvette what we think about is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and that is what makes people buy those brands. Brand image is why people get specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Firms – If you reflect on the history of the majority of branding companies you’ll find that they are often re-branded marketing and advertising agencies. When someone claims they are in advertising and marketing most individuals will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that specializes in a kind of visual design which helps form the public image of a company, a product or a company. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, as well as collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and also pamphlets. Some visual designers also develop websites as well as software interfaces. The necessary duty of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues and a psychological tone with the objective of affecting actions, end results as well as understandings.

select logos & signs

Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Cary coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and cafe were opening up in an older part of the town and hoped to project a nostalgic tone without appearing as boring or low energy. I achieved the two tasks by means of creating a logo concept that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and also bacteria created for Cary clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that studies the triggers and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of medicine that works with the laboratory evaluation of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more appealing, more focus grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog developed for a family enjoyable center in Cary.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental experts, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more enthusiastic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Cary travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche area because travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather project emotional journeys through the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo concept was to use negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they often convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with mere words. I tried to do something similar to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Cary logo but also to show the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Cary logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design projects that I take on I genuinely enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but the customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy genuinely despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members didn’t share his contempt for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage all of them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased viewpoints on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they adored the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Business logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo understand how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo project possesses it’s portion of obstacles, however the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Cary book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin parcel of real estate to work with, but it is the most important part of a printed book because it is ordinarily the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. With respect to a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will likely ever get to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart nevertheless it looks like that in many instances 1 of the things folks often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest startup commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a sense of flight and it was definitely a success.

Cary logo style utilized for advertising and also a label layout for Vintage Case features an archaic typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be older cases. For this brand concept I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another era.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Cary, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to suggest metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo jobs because it seems that each and every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business advertising, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dental professionals do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really love doing dentistry business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters startled in height to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to explain specifically how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that describes itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo style produced for a Cary hair design studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo that conveyed a sense of serenity and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept which didn’t go the obvious course of crafting just a stylized orchid but rather crafted a logo that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is in most cases the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the main focus on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Arabian horse logo style created for a steed cattle ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted an original company logo concept customized to display the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of equines. By having an unique head form and very high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most easily identifiable equine breeds in the world.

Las Cafe, A Cary restaurant logo design a tiny dining establishment, style includes a modified script font which hovers over a team of elaborate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a tiny restaurant, style contains a changed script font which hovers above a team of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Logo design for a software program developer the layout attributes and iconic Cary aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and disk managing. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it represented something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the symbolism supporting a logo is equally as important as how it serves the organization it represents.

Evolve logo design created for a Caryindoor developer, design feature a series of red circles that converge and replace the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Cary interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a person who arranges, researches, collaborates, and oversees such tasks. Interior design is a diverse occupation that involves conceptual development, space planning, location examinations, programming, research study, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and execution of the design.

logo style provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Cary, the personalities for letter V as well as A in middle of the word advanced have actually been modified to tie straight into words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Cary logo design assignment was undertaken for a leadership specialist that enables business leaders to develop into more effective at overseeing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Cary business logo style featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly knew the market was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a spot to sell off their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Cary logo design design with an image which captures the interest of traffic and sends an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo style MQ farms, this Cary company logo style has an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo concept wasn’t really designed for an Cary area farm it was really devised for a products broker, and this particular company was one of many which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to design a graphic that projected self-assurance, financial success, and wealth.

Cary Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo layout feature for externally encountering arrow and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the liberty to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye without realizing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this case, I hit a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo design designed for the use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script typeface that is reminiscent of a renowned Cary sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked directly with the owner to design a business logo which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
