Cary Logo Design

Each and every new Cary organization understands that they require a logo, yet few entrepreneurs fully comprehend the key role their logo design can perform in their success, or exactly why one logo works more effectively than another. A logo design has a critical and sustaining effect on the financial success of a company, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Cary companies succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require contemplation, they can be realized in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable business logo will stay legible and equally emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be lasting and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

Retro logo style of a bicycle developed for a Cary coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee shop were launching in an older section of town and wished to cast a nostalgic vibe without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I accomplished each of the tasks via designing a business logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide and also bacteria made for Cary medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which investigates the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that deals with the clinical assessment of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recall in which I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Typically I try not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents very literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and more memorable.

logo style with a jumping green frog designed for a family fun center in Cary.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental offices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more enthusiastic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a flock of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Cary traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession because travel photographers don’t capture places or things but instead project emotional journeys through the pictures they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to use negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they frequently tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with mere words. I tried to do something much the same to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Cary logo design but also to show the depth of her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Cary logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design jobs that I take on I truly savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but the client, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy seriously loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his scorn for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge all of them to share it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t actually know so as to get neutral judgements on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo recognize how important a logo design is for their company so they are way more invested in the final result. Every logo project has it’s share of challenges, however the biggest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, layout for Cary publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin parcel of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most crucial part of a printed book considering that it is in most cases the first thing a person views in the book store. For a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will ever get to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go yet it seems that in many cases 1 of the aspects people usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a good sense of air travel and it was certainly a success.

Cary logo design made use of for advertising and marketing and also a tag style for Vintage Instance features an old typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for musical instruments, that appeared to be older cases. For this custom logo design I attempted to come up with a logo that had a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Cary, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo design jobs due to the fact that it seems that each and every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really enjoy doing dental care business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family members nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 personalities surprised in height to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to summarize exactly how people should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that describes itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo design created for a hair design workshop including a script font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo which related a feeling of calmness and connection for their new hair studio. I created a concept that didn’t go the obvious course of creating simply a stylized orchid but instead created a company logo that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured into the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is oftentimes the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the importance on the feeling that they really wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo design a tiny restaurant, layout consists of a customized script font which floats above a group of ornate lines and dots.

Logo style for a software designer the layout functions as well as iconic component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it intimated something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the company it represents.

Progress logo design created for a Cary interior designer, style function a collection of red circles that intersect and also change the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Cary logo design assignment was undertaken for a leadership guide that assists business leaders to become more effective at managing people, expectations, and profitability.

A logo style featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly knew the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a spot to market their pre-owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Cary logo dsign with an illustration which pulls in the attention of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo layout has actually a field incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t actually composed for an Cary area farm it was actually devised for a products broker, and this particular brand was one of multiple which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to design an identity that projects trust, effectiveness, and prosperity.
Logo design made for using an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript typeface that is evocative a popular sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed dozens of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked closely with the owner to produce a logo design which worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
