Champaign Logo Design

Each and every new Champaign venture realizes that they need a logo, but few entrepreneurs fully grasp the pivotal role their logo design will perform in their financial success, or exactly why one logo design performs more effectively than another. A logo has an instant and lasting impact on the success of a business, select the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Champaign businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand deliberation, they can be comprehended in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable business logo will be legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be lasting and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a Champaign coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and bistro were actually launching in an older section of town and wanted to project a nostalgic feel without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled the two jobs by designing a custom logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and also germs created for Champaign medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which researches the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the field of medicine which deals with the laboratory assessment of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the only instance I recall in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Generally I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents very literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more appealing, more attention grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo layout with a jumping green frog made for a family members fun facility in Champaign.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to integrate a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more dynamic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Champaign travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather project emotional experiences through the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of almost all good photographers in that they frequently convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with mere words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Champaign logo but also to illustrate the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Champaign logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design projects that I take on I seriously savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however the client, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members did not share his aversion for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage them to share it with colleagues and family members as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased judgements on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to create their business logo recognize how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are much more invested in the outcome. Every logo design project possesses it’s portion of obstacles, however the biggest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Champaign book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped segment of real estate to work with, but it is the most crucial part of a published book since it is often the primary thing a person views in the book shop. For a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will likely ever have to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart nevertheless it seems that in many occurrences 1 of the items people usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young fledgling commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a feeling of flight and it was surely a success.

Champaign logo style made use of for advertising and marketing and also a tag style for Vintage Instance features an antiquated font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be much older cases. For this logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be utilized for everything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another era.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Champaign, style include an arc with lines converging via it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can be one of the most challenging logo projects due to the fact that it appears that every single dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dentists do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I actually love doing dental care logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family nonprofit, the logo features 4 personalities startled in elevation to stand for a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to illustrate how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout created for a hair style workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo that communicated a feeling of peace and connection for their new hair studio. I created a design which didn’t go the obvious path of designing just a stylized orchid but instead designed a company logo which implied a flower in the formation of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is more often than not the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately put the attention on the feeling that they really wanted to project to their clients.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed an original organization logo design customized to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of horses. With an identifiable head form and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most immediately identifiable equine breeds in the whole world.

Logo design for a software developer the style features and famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk operations. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge in between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it represented something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a company logo is equally as important as how it brands the organization it represents.

A logo layout featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly realized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to sell off their previously owned items to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Champaign business logo dsign along with a graphic which captures the interest of traffic and projects an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo layout has a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo idea wasn’t really created for an Champaign regional farm it was actually created for an investments broker, and this particular logo design was one of many which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was actually to create a brand mark that projected confidence, financial success, and opulence.
Logo design made for making use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script typeface that is evocative a famous sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted quite a lot of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project in which I worked directly with the business owner to create a business logo that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
