Chicago Heights Logo Design

Every new Chicago Heights business understands that they need a logo, but few new business owners fully understand the vital role their business logo can perform in their success, or exactly why one logo design performs better than another. A company logo has a critical and long term impact on the prosperity of a business, select the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Chicago Heights businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require deliberation, they can be comprehended in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be lasting and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

Retro logo style of a bike created for a Chicago Heights coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and bistro were launching in an older section of the city and really wanted to cast an old-fashioned vibe without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both of these jobs by developing a business logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo style with a microscope slide and bacteria made for Chicago Heights medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the causes and consequences of diseases, especially the field of medicine that deals with the laboratory evaluation of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the only instance I recall where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Generally I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, yet it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and much more memorable.

logo style with a jumping environment-friendly frog created for a household enjoyable center in Chicago Heights.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the types of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental professionals, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Chicago Heights travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture places or things but instead communicate emotional experiences through the photos they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they frequently tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I made an effort to do something the same to this logo by using the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Chicago Heights logo design but also to show the depth to her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Chicago Heights logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design jobs that I take on I really savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however my customer, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his scorn for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge them to share it with friends and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get honest assessments on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they really loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their logo design realize how crucial a logo is for their company so they are much more vested in the outcome. Every logo design project has it’s share of challenges, but the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Chicago Heights publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin slice of real estate to work with, yet it is the most vital part of a printed book because it is in most cases the initial thing a person views in the bookstore. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will ever get to publicize their product and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart yet it seems that in many instances one of the traits people tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to affording a good sense of air travel and it was undoubtedly a winner.

Chicago Heights logo style utilized for advertising and a tag design for Vintage Case includes an old-fashioned typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that provided a fluid vintage feel to it and could be utilized for everything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different point in time.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Chicago Heights, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can be one of the most difficult logo jobs considering that it appears that every single dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dentists do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I actually love doing dentist logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters surprised in elevation to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to explain how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that explains itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo design produced for a hair design studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo which conveyed a spirit of ease and class for their new hair studio. I created a design which didn’t go the obvious direction of creating just a stylized orchid but rather designed a logo design that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is more often than not the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the emphasis on the feeling that they really wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Logo layout for a software program programmer the layout functions as well as renowned aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and disk management. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it intimated something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance supporting a company logo is just as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

A logo style featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a spot to market their secondhand equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Chicago Heights business logo dsign using a graphic which garners the interest of vehicles and sends an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
