Crystal Lake Logo Design

Nearly every new Crystal Lake company realizes that they are in need of a logo, but few new business owners fully recognize the key role their company logo will play in their becoming successful, or why one logo functions better than another. A company logo has an immediate and lasting impact on the growth of a business, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of an organization. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Crystal Lake businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require scrutiny, they can be grasped in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo design will stay legible and just as emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be timeless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.

Retro logo design of a bike produced for a Crystal Lake coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually launching in an old section of the city and really wanted to project a nostalgic tone without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished both tasks via creating a sign design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide and also bacteria made for Crystal Lake medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that examines the root causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of medicine which works with the clinical examination of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recall where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Normally I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves very literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more interesting, more focus grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo style with a leaping environment-friendly frog created for a family enjoyable facility in Crystal Lake.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more enthusiastic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and a tree - made for Crystal Lake travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche field because travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead project emotional journeys by means of the photos they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to use negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they often tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with just words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Crystal Lake logo design but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Crystal Lake logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design projects that I take on I really relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however my client, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man genuinely hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members did not share his scorn for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to share it with colleagues and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get honest judgements on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to design their logo design understand how vital a logo is for their business so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo design job has it’s share of challenges, however the most significant obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, design for Crystal Lake publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, yet it is the most essential part of a printed book given that it is usually the very first thing a person sees in the book store. With regard to a publisher, it’s the opportunity that they will ever have to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go nevertheless it seems like that in many cases one of the things folks often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small fledgling commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a feeling of air travel and it was definitely a victory.

Crystal Lake logo style utilized for advertising as well as a label layout for Vintage Instance includes an antiquated font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, which appeared to be antique cases. For this custom logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Crystal Lake, design include an arc with lines intersecting via it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo jobs considering that it appears that each and every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dental professionals do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really enjoy doing dentist logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family members not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities startled in elevation to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to describe exactly how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo layout created for a hair design workshop including a script font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo which projected a sense of ease and class for their new hair salon. I created a design that did not go the obvious path of crafting simply a stylized orchid but alternatively designed a logo which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the concept using the figure of a hummingbird floating above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is oftentimes the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately laid the emphasis on the feeling that they really wanted to project to their clients.

Arabian steed logo style developed for a horse cattle ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo layout for a software developer the layout features as well as iconic element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and disk operations. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it represented something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance supporting a business logo is just as important as how it brands the company it represents.

A logo design featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly realized the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a location to sell their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Crystal Lake logo dsign utilizing a graphic which garners the interest of vehicles and sends an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo style has actually an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo idea wasn’t really created for an Crystal Lake regional farm it was in reality designed for a products broker, and this logo design was one of several that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to generate a brand mark that projects assurance, financial success, and luxury.
Logo designed for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is evocative a popular sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted quite a lot of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked closely with the proprietor to produce a logo design that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
