Decatur Logo Design

Nearly every new Decatur business realizes that they require a logo, yet few entrepreneurs fully recognize the crucial role their organization logo will make in their financial success, or why one business logo performs far better than another. A logo design has an immediate and sustaining impact on the financial success of a business, go with the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the life span of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Decatur companies prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require contemplation, they can be comprehended in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo design will continue to be legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the company they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.

Retro logo style of a bicycle developed for a Decatur coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening up in an older part of the town and really wanted to cast a nostalgic atmosphere without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished the two jobs via developing a trademark concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and also bacteria made for Decatur medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that investigates the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the field of healthcare which deals with the clinical examination of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents very literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more appealing, more focus grabbing and even more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog created for a household enjoyable facility in Decatur.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and a tree - made for Decatur travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but instead project emotional experiences through the photos they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of almost all good photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I tried to do something similar to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Decatur logo but also to illustrate the depth to her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Decatur logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design projects that I take on I honestly savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his scorn for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to talk about it with friends and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased assessments on the value of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they adored the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo design realize how vital a logo design is for their company so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo design job has it’s portion of obstacles, however the greatest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Decatur book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, however it is the most critical part of a printed book due to the fact that it is usually the first thing a person sees in the bookstore. Concerning a publisher, it’s the opportunity they will ever have to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart nevertheless it seems that in many instances 1 of the traits people usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller new venture commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a feeling of air travel and it was surely a winner.

Decatur logo design used for advertising as well as a label layout for Vintage Situation features an old font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be much older cases. For this brand design I sought to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Decatur, design include an arc with lines converging via it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can be one of the most difficult logo design projects considering that it appears that almost every dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dental offices do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I actually love doing dentist logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family members nonprofit, the logo design features 4 personalities staggered in height to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to describe precisely how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that explains itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo style developed for a hair layout studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a company logo that projected a spirit of calmness and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious path of making just a stylized orchid but rather delivered a business logo that suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design along with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is more often than not the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead laid the main focus on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their clients.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo layout for a software program designer the design functions and also iconic component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk management. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a bridge in between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it intimated something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the meaning behind a company logo is just as important as how it brands the business it represents.

Evolve logo layout created for a Decatur indoor developer, design function a collection of red circles that intersect and also change the letter O in the center of the logo style.

logo design done for Advanced Management Solutions, the personalities for letter V and A in middle of the word progressed have been changed to link directly into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Decatur logo design project was done for a management consultant that helps business professionals to become more successful at handling people, expectations, and productivity.

A logo style featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly knew the market was primed for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a spot to sell their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Decatur logo dsign along with an image which garners the attention of traffic and projects an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo design has actually a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand design wasn’t actually created for an Decatur regional farm it was really created for a commodities broker, and this particular creative logo was one of several which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to create a brand mark that projected self-confidence, success, and affluence.
Logo design designed for the use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font style that is reminiscent of a well-known sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed dozens of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the business owner to design a logo that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
