Des Plaines Logo Design

Every new Des Plaines organization knows they need a logo, yet few new business owners fully recognize the key role their logo design will play in their becoming successful, or why one business logo works better than another. A company logo has an instant and long-term effect on the growth of a company, choose the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Des Plaines companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not demand deliberation, they can be comprehended in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will continue to be legible and equally emotive at every scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.

Retro logo style of a bike developed for a Des Plaines coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and cafe were opening in an older section of the community and wanted to cast a vintage atmosphere without coming across as boring or low energy. I accomplished both jobs via designing a sign design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and germs designed for Des Plaines clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that analyzes the root causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of medicine which deals with the clinical evaluation of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the sole instance I remember in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more captivating, more attention grabbing and even more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping eco-friendly frog developed for a family members enjoyable facility in Des Plaines.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to integrate a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and a tree - designed for Des Plaines traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture places or things but instead communicate emotional experiences through the photos they record. The thought behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with mere words. I attempted to do something the same to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Des Plaines logo but also to reveal the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Des Plaines logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design jobs that I take on I honestly relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but my client, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his hatred for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage all of them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced viewpoints on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really liked the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Business logos are a weird animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire an expert to create their logo understand how important a logo design is for their organization so they are way more invested in the outcome. Every logo design project has it’s allotment of difficulties, but the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, layout for Des Plaines book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, however it really is the most essential part of a published book because it is in most cases the very first thing a person sees in the book shop. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity they will likely ever get to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart but it seems that in many instances 1 of the traits people usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest startup commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a feeling of airline flight and it was definitely a victory.

Des Plaines logo layout made use of for advertising and marketing and also a tag design for Vintage Situation features an old-fashioned font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be antique cases. For this brand concept I attempted to come up with a logo that offered a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a web site to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different generation.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Des Plaines, layout consist of an arc with lines converging with it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can be one of the most challenging logo jobs considering that it seems that every single dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dental practitioners do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really love doing dental business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family nonprofit, the logo design features 4 characters staggered in height to represent a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization hopes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to describe how people should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo design created for a hair design workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a company logo which projected a feeling of tranquility and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that didn’t go the obvious route of creating just a stylized orchid but alternatively designed a logo design which suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the logo design using the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is in most cases the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the emphasis on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Arabian equine logo design developed for an equine ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian show equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Las Coffee shop logo design a tiny restaurant, layout consists of a customized script typeface which hovers above a team of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Logo style for a software programmer the style functions and also legendary element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive operations. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a bridge between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it meant something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the symbolism supporting a company logo is equally as important as how it brands the business it stands for.

Advance logo design developed for a Des Plaines indoor developer, layout attribute a collection of red circles that converge and change the letter O in the center of the logo style.

A logo layout featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly understood the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a location to sell their used products to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Des Plaines business logo dsign with an illustration that seizes the interest of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo design has a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem idea wasn’t actually produced for an Des Plaines regional farm it was actually devised for a commodities broker, and this brand was one of multiple which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to make an identity that projected trust, financial success, and wealth.
Logo design developed for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript typeface that is reminiscent of a popular sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted loads of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project in which I worked directly with the business owner to design a logo design which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
