TIPS FOR DETERMINING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design company offers a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they can’t refund the amount of time you invest which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but in the end a design firm can only be determined by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio does not feature real life examples chances are they will never be able to produce a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s goal is to reflect your unique vision for your organization. If a logo designer is not focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how quickly they will get paid.

Edwardsville LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping businesses of all kinds grow notable brand identities. We have done brand identity design work for ranchers, colleges, diamond miners, wedding singers, coffee roasters, retailers, and just about every other kind of business you can imagine. What makes ImageCo different compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every design as if it will be employed as an electric sign. Because of our sign first strategy our designs can, and have been utilized in everything from fashion labels to billboards. Our sign first approach ensures that our logo designs are equally successful whether they are used in television commercials or web apps, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and always remembered regardless of size or application.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which really sets ImageCo apart from other design firms that you probably have encountered on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are retained to do, we perform ourselves. Irrespective of the kind of design project we undertake, logo, web page, trade show booth, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will farm out our client’s projects to 3rd parties located outside the United States. Whenever you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that marks up the price of your design project and dictates the conditions of how you and I do business.

QUALITIES OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Edwardsville business knows they require a logo, but few start ups fully understand the essential role their organization’s logo will perform in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo design works more effectively than another. A logo design has a critical and lasting influence on the growth of a business, pick the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, select the wrong one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the life span of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Edwardsville companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require scrutiny, they can be understood in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to retail signs a scalable logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the item or company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be timeless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s a verb and a noun, it is an identifying mark as well as the act of denoting something so that it could be recognized, its foundation originates from the brand branded onto livestock. Nowadays a brand symbolizes virtually anything with an intention, whether it be earnings or government agencies, a brand is an innate aspect of specifying the worth of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s attractive sister, they are both from the same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest aimed at a target audience, it’s objective is to develop an image that the target market can connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When someone states the names Porsche or Mustang what we consider is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals purchase those brands. Brand image is why people purchase most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Agencies – If you reflect on the origin of many branding firms you’ll find that they are quite often rebranded marketing agencies. When somebody says they are in advertising and marketing many people will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that concentrates on a type of visual design which helps shape the perception of a firm, a product or a business. Brand identity designers create logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, and also collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and also brochures. Some visual designers also build web sites and software interfaces. The crucial function of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and also a psychological tone with the goal of influencing actions, results and also understandings.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo layout of a bike created for a Edwardsville coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and cafe were actually opening up in an older part of the community and hoped to visualize an old-fashioned tone without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I achieved each of the jobs by means of designing a company logo concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo style with a microscope slide and also germs made for Edwardsville medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which researches the causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare that works with the laboratory examination of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the sole instance I remember in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents very literally, yet it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more interesting, more focus grabbing and even more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping eco-friendly frog made for a family fun facility in Edwardsville.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design including a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Edwardsville traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche field because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but rather reveal emotional experiences through the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they oftentimes share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with mere words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Edwardsville logo but also to reveal the depth to her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Edwardsville logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design projects that I take on I truly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but the client, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy really hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his contempt for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to share it with friends and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get objective viewpoints on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they adored the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Business logos are a weird creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their business logo understand how important a logo is for their business so they are much more vested in the end result. Every logo design job has it’s allotment of difficulties, however the most significant challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, style for Edwardsville publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin piece of real estate to work with, but it is the most necessary part of a printed book considering that it is in most cases the very first thing a person sees in the bookstore. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the opportunity they will ever get to publicize their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it seems that in many cases 1 of the aspects individuals often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young new venture commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a feeling of air travel and it was definitely a success.

Edwardsville logo style made use of for advertising and marketing and a tag style for Vintage Instance includes an antiquated font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, which looked to be vintage cases. For this business logo design I strove to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another era.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Edwardsville, layout include an arc with lines intersecting with it to imply metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can be one of the most challenging logo design projects considering that it seems that almost every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dental offices do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I actually love doing dental care business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wants to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to summarize specifically how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo style produced for a Edwardsville hair style studio including a script font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo design that communicated a feeling of contentment and class for their new hair salon. I created a concept which did not go the obvious route of crafting just a stylized orchid but alternatively created a logo design that implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is oftentimes the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the attention on the emotion that they wanted to project to their clients.

Arabian horse logo design developed for a steed ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed an original logotype concept tailored to embody the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of horses. By having an unique head shape and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most easily identifiable equine lineages in the world.

Las Cafe, A Edwardsville restaurant logo layout a tiny dining establishment, design includes a modified manuscript font style which floats above a team of elaborate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo layout a tiny dining establishment, design contains a modified manuscript font which hovers over a group of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo design for a software program programmer the design functions as well as legendary Edwardsville aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive operations. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection in between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the owner of the business and in many cases the meaning behind a company logo is just as important as how it serves the company it stands for.

Advance logo style created for a Edwardsvilleindoor developer, style feature a series of red circles that converge and also change the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Edwardsville interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who arranges, researches, collaborates, and manages such tasks. Interior design is a diverse occupation that involves conceptual development, area planning, location inspections, programming, investigation, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and implementation of the design.

logo layout provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Edwardsville, the personalities for letter V as well as A in center of words progressed have actually been modified to link straight right into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Edwardsville logo design project was performed for a leadership guide that assists business professionals to become more efficient at overseeing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Edwardsville business logo style including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly realized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a spot to sell their used goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Edwardsville logo design with a graphic that garners the attention of traffic and projects an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo design MQ farms, this Edwardsville company logo style has a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo idea wasn’t actually produced for an Edwardsville regional farm it was in reality designed for a products broker, and this brand was one of multiple which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to develop a graphic that projected trust, effectiveness, and affluence.

Edwardsville Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo layout function for ostensibly facing arrow and also the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the opportunity to investigate any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the very first try.

Logo created for making use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font style that is reminiscent of a renowned Edwardsville sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created quite a lot of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked closely with the owner to develop a logo which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
